First Impressions

This month’s theme is ‘‘New Year, New You Beauty Transformation.’’ We’re kicking off the new year by keeping the delicate mesh bag in lieu of the canvas tote bag, and I’m here for it. The mesh bag can be repurposed, whether for a gift or otherwise, and I do appreciate the nod to sustainability.

Now, on to the items!

OLORI Damage Be Gone Deep Conditioner and Restorative Treatment, 340 g - Retail Value $26.00

This Olori Damage Be Gone Deep Conditioner and Restorative Treatment is a new staple in my haircare routine. The thick, creamy texture of the product is unlike other conditioners. It feels almost like a paste but spreads easily, ensuring every strand gets coated with its hydrating formula. The scent is absolutely divine (reminding me of a fancy chocolate), adding a luxurious touch to my weekly self-care ritual. After just a few uses, my hair feels noticeably hydrated, revitalized, and full of life. I highly recommend this restorative treatment to anyone looking to give their hair some much-needed TLC.

APPEAL COSMETICS Melon Crush Sugar Scrub, 30 ml - Retail Value $21.00

Ohhh, I love sugar scrubs, and this Melon Crush Sugar Scrub from Appeal Cosmetics has been a lovely surprise. First thing I noticed about this product was the enchanting watermelon scent; a true aromatic pleasure. The fine exfoliant has a unique sand-like texture, and this scrub gently but effectively exfoliates, sloughing off dead skin cells without any irritation (despite being a scented product). Upon application, the product feels slightly oily, but after washing it off, there is no residue left behind, just silky, smooth, moisturized skin.

FLEUR AND BEE Eyes Eyes Baby Anti-Aging Eye Cream, 17 g - Retail Value $65.00

I’ve used this Fleur and Bee Eyes Eyes Baby Anti-Aging Eye Cream in the past, and it never disappoints. Plus, I’m always happy to try anything anti-aging. What I really appreciate about this eye cream is the water-based formula, which works nicely for me. Some eye products are a bit too thick and heavy for my sensitive under-eye skin, often leading to irritation and clogged pores, but that’s not an issue with this lightweight eye cream. It’s not at all greasy, but it does take a few extra minutes to fully absorb into the skin. Very hydrating and gentle, which I appreciate, and the caffeine-enhanced formula works overtime to help banish fine lines, puffiness, and dark circles around the eyes. Thanks to the caffeine, I often look wide awake and ready for the day, regardless of how tired I am on the inside. Plus, there’s no detectable scent, which I especially enjoy.

CHAP-LIP Lip Butter 100% Natural Lip Balm in Watermelon, 4.2 g - Estimated Value $0.83

I will always need more lip balm, and this 100% Natural Lip Balm in Watermelon from Chap-Lip has been a great addition to my nightstand. Its firm yet smooth texture glides effortlessly along my lips without leaving a sticky aftermath. As someone who’s usually sensitive to fragrances, the watermelon scent is truly heavenly, offering a subtle hint of summer without overwhelming the senses. After applying this to my lips, it brings a pleasant, long-lasting hydration that gently nourishes. I’m a huge fan.

ORIGIN Instants Dual Action Dissolvable Teeth Whitening Strips with HAP3, 8-pc - Retail Value $8.99

The Dual Action Dissolvable Teeth Whitening Strips with HAP3 from Origin Instants is a welcome addition to this month’s product line-up. I love whitening strips, and what’s especially interesting about these is the fact that they’re dissolvable. Opening the package, you’ll find a wafer-thin strip. Now, practice makes perfect, so don’t get discouraged; application does have a slight learning curve. The thin strip adheres snugly to teeth, offering a fuss-free application without the need for removal, which is seriously a game-changer, especially if you like to whiten your teeth before bed. However, for perfect alignment, precision is required. The strip itself is moisture-activated, which means it’ll stick to your fingers or lips if moisture is present. Once you’ve gotten the hang of it, though, the overall convenience of these whitening strips shine through, providing the simplest whitening experience I’ve tried yet.

Verdict

This was a great month for Cocotique! The highlight for me was Olori’s conditioner and restorative treatment; with a scent that is absolutely divine and an effective formula that envelops each and every strand, it’s the ultimate lifesaver for hair. Fleur and Bee’s eye cream is always a win for me, thanks to its lightweight water-based formula that never causes me any irritation or clogged pores. Another lovely inclusion was Origin Instants’ whitening strips. I’ve never had the pleasure of using a dissolvable whitening strip, but now that I have, I don’t think I’ll ever go back to non-dissolvables. The sugar scrub from Appeal Cosmetics is a true delight, with its mouth-watering watermelon scent, leaving my skin feeling smooth and hydrated without any irritation. Lastly, the watermelon lip balm from Chap-Lip Lip Butter… I appreciate the firm yet smooth texture of this lip balm, and once again, the scent is thrilling. Overall, I thought this was a great box; I’m a huge fan of watermelon-themed products, and the value is there.
