First Impressions
This month's box is "The Glow Box," and it is full of clean beauty products to help make your skin look radiant.
Kinder Beauty has embraced a "choose your own adventure" approach to their subscription; they offer 3 base or "foundation" products, and you can choose one product from each of two categories. Kinder was kind enough to send us each product in both categories so you can get a better look at this month's choices.
The Choices
The first category included a choice of three products. Choose between Clover by Clove+Hallow Glow Stick Illuminator in Cleo ($16 value), Clover by Clove+Hallow Glow Stick Illuminator in Glass Slipper ($16 value), or Laguna Herbals Vegan Eye Balm ($65 value).
In the second choice category, you get to choose one of two products, including Sweet Chef Superfood + Vitamins Moisture Boost ($19 value) or Uve Beauty Helio Antimicrobial Blender ($10 value).
My Choices
Clover by Clove+Hallow Glow Stick Illuminator in Cleo - Retail Value - $16
This was a tough decision, but I will always enthusiastically choose a new cream makeup product, especially when it comes in a convenient stick. Clover by Clove + Hallow is a new-to-me brand, and based on the smooth application and subtle yet refined glow, I'd love to see more from this company. I feel like a glazed donut in the best way.
Uve Beauty Helio Antimicrobial Blender - Retail Value - $10
Within the last few months, I've rekindled my love for beauty sponges, and I am once again hooked. The good news is that my foundation looks and feels natural and well-blended every day. The bad news is that sponges don't last as long as brushes, so my wallet and the environment do not share this lovefest; however, Helio is made out of a plant-based non-toxic material that is biodegradable up to 58% in 45 days. The sponge feels great like most other beauty sponges, and its pointy tip can get into any nook or cranny.
Foundation Products
Each month, Kinder Beauty sends out three base products. This month had some of my favorite picks so far!
Pixi In-Shower Steam Facial - Retail Value - $22
I'd describe the texture of this cleansing mask as a hard jelly. It was really satisfying to rub this interesting texture between my fingers, and when I finally applied it to my face, I felt a very brief warming sensation. I left this mask on for about 5 minutes, and it was very easy to rinse away. I thought it did a nice job of cleansing, while the collagen and peptides prevented my face from feeling dry or tight.
Fleur & Bee Just Dew It Hydrating Serum - Retail Value - $58
Winter weather is already starting to wreak havoc on my dry complexion, so I didn't waste any time with this serum. I've slathered it on the last 4 days, and I am really impressed with how it is keeping up with my needy, thirsty skin. Hyaluronic acid keeps the skin hydrated, along with Prickly Pear Seed Oil and Seabuckthorn Oil. In addition, vitamins, antioxidants, and Superfood complex nourish the skin while performing some anti-aging magic.
Luxe + Willow Tongue Scraper Set - Retail Value - $29.99
Somehow I went from being an avid tongue-scraper to who I am now: a non-tongue-scraper. Things have changed, and I've once again seen the light. It is such an easy step to add to your brushing routine, and it has a huge payoff like fresher breath and less plaque. I also just read that with regular use, scraping your tongue can help refresh your taste buds. This metal design is resistant to rust and mold, and it is also dishwasher-safe! I am sold, and this two-pack was really thoughtful; my husband and I are now on team tongue-scraper again.
The Verdict
This month's Kinder Beauty Box has an awesome range for a beauty box. I love receiving skincare, makeup, a beauty tool, and personal care products all in one month, wow! Every item, from the tongue scrapers to the fancy skin serum, worked and exceeded my expectations this month. I am really pleased with this month's foundation products, and even though it was hard for me to pick from the two categories, I am glad I picked the beauty sponge and my new fave highlighter.
The element of surprise and experimentation that subscription boxes offer is still there with the three base products everyone receives, but choosing two things has made this subscription even dearer to me. This month’s box variation, including the two products I selected, has a retail value of $135.99, which is a fantastic value for its cost of $27.
