First Impressions

This month’s theme is ‘Fall in Love;’ perfectly fitting for the recent autumnal shift I’ve been experiencing lately. The bag, inscribed with ‘Self-Care Always Matters,’ serves as a reminder to take time for yourself amid the changing leaves. What an elegant fusion of style and substance for the season.

NOW SOLUTIONS Organic Eucalyptus Roll-On, 10 ml - Retail Value $7.99

Kicking off this month’s selection, we have Now Solutions’ Organic Eucalyptus Roll-On. I’m not a huge fan when it comes to essential oils; partially because I’m sensitive to scents but primarily because my exotic parrots have incredibly delicate breathing systems, and essential oil of any kind can be harmful, which I’d rather not take the chance on. This roll-on makes precise application effortless, allowing quick dabs on the wrists, chest, or neck for a top-notch aromatic experience at your immediate disposal. Some people like essential oils, and others don’t. In any case, this is a high-quality product with a formula that boasts a pure blend of jojoba seed oil and eucalyptus leaf oil, without any synthetic fragrances. While this product isn’t something I can safely keep around the house, I’ll be passing it along to a grandma who loves stuff like this. Any fans of eucalyptus are sure to enjoy this product, and the travel size is the cherry on top.

SHEA MOISTURE Raw Shea Butter Body Wash with Frankincense and Myrrh, 384 ml - Retail Value $10.29

Raw Shea Butter Body Wash with Frankincense and Myrrh, how exciting! And from Shea Moisture no less. Now, I’m always here for a new body wash, but keeping it real, when it comes to scents and me, we just don’t mix. The fragrance attached to this product reminds me of a vintage perfume my aunt used to wear in the 90's. So, while the scent isn’t entirely my jam, I couldn’t be more thrilled to see a body wash in a subscription box. That’s something I’ve definitely not seen enough of. The shining star of this product is its moisturizing capabilities. Talk about hydration galore. The magnificent blend of shea butter, mango butter, and argan oil left my skin feeling like I’d just emerged from my own mini spa sesh. While the scent isn’t my fave, Shea Moisture’s skin-rejuvenating magic is at it again, and I’m a fan.

SHEA MOISTURE Raw Shea Butter Hydrating Body Lotion with Frankincense and Myrrh, 384 ml - Retail Value $10.29

This month we’ve been graced with not one, but two Shea Moisture products, and this Raw Shea Butter Hydrating Body Lotion with Frankincense and Myrrh is another welcome inclusion. I always go through body lotion faster than I expect, so I am always happy to see one as large as this in a subscription box. I’m all about that post-shower moisture, and this little gem? Top-tier hydration. Now, once again, the scent is not my favorite, but it’s something I’m able to look past, thankfully, and it doesn’t last all that long anyway, which is a blessing for a scent-sensitive soul like myself. What’s especially exciting about this product is the cocktail of skin-loving nutrients that come together to create such a smooth lotion. If you’re in search of a lotion that’s both indulgent and effective, this could be the holy grail. Slather, enjoy, and repeat!

SUNNY ISLE Rosemary Mint and Strong Roots Oil, 88 ml - Retail Value $9.99

If you’ve ever dreamed about a magical elixir for hair, let me introduce you to Sunny Isle. Okay, to be honest, my excitement level was a bit extra this time around. I’ve experienced some minor hair thinning after years of protective styles, and let me tell you, this Rosemary Mint and Strong Roots Oil did not disappoint. Its Double Growth formula is perfect for anyone eyeing a little extra love for their hairline. The blend of natural ingredients, including the powerhouse Jamaican black castor oil and biotin, is like a nutrient feast for my follicles. In fact, it feels like a VIP treatment; it’s versatile enough for daily care or as a part of a more serious scalp treatment. This oil tackles everything from dry scalp to split ends to frizz and flyaways. Plus, it’s paraben and sulfate free, which is a huge bonus. Whether you’re rocking braids, weaves, locs, or your natural hair, this oil is a game-changer for stronger, happier hair.

SUNNY ISLE Rosemary Mint Hair and Strong Roots Pomade, 142 g - Retail Value $9.99

Another win for my hair care arsenal from Sunny Isle is this Rosemary Mint Hair and Strong Roots Pomade. Now, I didn’t notice it as strongly with the oil, but the pomade is giving me ‘Sunday roast vibes’ due to its savory rosemary flair. Do I want my hair smelling like a pot roast? Not exactly. But, hey, on those self-care days when I’m not leaving the house, or at least not until much later, the scent is a non-issue (and quite tasty, in fact). The Double Growth formula is backed by the delightful blend of Jamaican black castor oil and biotin, making this mixture a dream come true for my hair. With the ability to tackle everything from dry, itchy scalp to frizz and flyaways, this pomade is a solid product, and it doesn’t weigh down my hair in the slightest, thanks to its lightweight texture.

RED BY KISS Power Wave Premium Boar Brush with Case, 1-pc - Retail Value $11.99

Wow, what a time warp! This Red By Kiss Power Wave Premium Boar Brush with Case features the one and only Bow Wow (formerly Lil’ Bow Wow) and sent me into a wave of nostalgia. Equipped with 100% natural boar bristles, this luxury wave brush is tailored for medium to coarse hair, gliding smoothly over your locks to define those waves. Sensitive scalp? No worries; this brush gives more of a gentle caress while also eliminating and/or assisting for frizz, split ends, and breakage. Even better, this brush comes with a convenient, sleek storage case that keeps it free from everyday grime. This brush might not be for me, but my brother will get a ton of use from it.

EUFORA Triple Bond Repair Treatment, 30 ml - Estimated Retail Value $8.72

Alright, as you know, I’ve been on the hunt for the best hair repair and/or growth solution, so this Triple Bond Repair Treatment from Eufora has got me buzzing with excitement. After my most recent protective style, my hairline took a slight hit from the heaviness of my locs. Ouch, right? If you know, you know. But here’s where this treatment steps in. I apply this for five minutes, and this powerful formula dives deep into each hair strand, working its bond-repairing magic. With its Pro-Bond Complex, this product targets not one but three primary bonds in my hair. The result? Strength, elasticity, and a luscious texture. So, if you’ve ever needed to nurse your hair back to health after various chemicals, heat treatments, and more, I’d highly recommend giving this a try.

This was a great month for Cocotique! The highlight for me was Eufora’s hair treatment, which ensures hair revival with consistent use. Sunny Isle’s hair oil and pomade may come with a rather unusual aromatic profile, but they deliver. Tailored to address everything from minor hair loss to that pesky frizz, this combo is like a rejuvenating treat for the tresses. And speaking of, Red By Kiss’ boar brush has proven to be a curly-hair savior, and my brother couldn’t be happier with it. Shea Moisture hit us this month with a one-two punch of body wash and body lotion; a powerhouse duo for my shower routine. Although the scent is a bit much for me, there’s no denying their hydration heroics, making every shower feel like a luxury spa escape. Lastly, Now Solutions’ eucalyptus roll-on… I’ll be passing this along, but if you’re a fan of essential oils, this provides a potent aroma that’s a blast to the senses. Overall, I thought this was a solid month packed with hair care products galore, and that’s something I truly appreciate; plus, the value is there.
