The Seasonal Subscription Box from Margot Elena is a quarterly subscription box featuring full-size beauty and lifestyle items. (If you aren't familiar with this brand, it's carried in stores like Anthropologie.)

For $59.99 a quarter + $6.95 shipping (to the contiguous US only), you'll discover the world of All Things Beautiful—this box is filled with over $200 worth of full-sized products curated by the Margot Elena team.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Opening The Box

Ready to ring in Fall with the latest Margot Elena Subscription Box? Fall 2023 greets us with rich pinks, purples, and reds, and a mix of new and familiar scents that span the lines.

The intro card beautifully sets the scene for a season of cozying up with luxurious scents and self-care. No box exclusive items packed in this quarter, but some gems nonetheless.

Here's What's Inside

Lollia Relax Perfumed Shower Gel, 8 fl oz — Retail Value $23

I've come to really love the Relax scent from Lollia. Over the recent years we've received it in the forms of bubble bath, then body butter, and now this body wash. I think of myself as reaching for deeper scents for the most part, but this box has warmed me up to brighter ones for bath and body, and they really brighten my mood as I get ready for my day.

TokyoMilk Savage Belle Eau de Parfum, 1 fl oz — Retail Value $48

As for that depth I just mentioned, I'm noticing that it continues to be what I grab when I'm choosing a scent to wear to leave the house. This Savage Belle scent fits the bill, as most TokyoMilk eau de parfums do, and this one is also really evocative for me! It's reminding me so much of a shampoo my dad used for years and years, that's no longer in stock, but this eau de parfum version is freshened up with the distant florals of wisteria and some spice thanks to ginger. A really cool experience for me to wear!

The Cottage Greenhouse Carrot & Neroli Handcreme, 4 0z — Retail Value $26

Carrot & Neroli, like Relax, is a scent we see come through this box with some regularity. I currently have the shower oil version of this scent up and running in my shower after sitting in my "to use" basket for awhile. The familiarity I have with this scent actually inspired me to go digging and see if The Cottage Greenhouse has a super-limited selection of aromas, or if some are being gatekept from subscribers. It's the latter! I don't recall ever receiving a Rosemary Mint, Violette Fig & Black Currant, or Wild Ginger & Agave product from The Cottage Greenhouse—do you? I do enjoy Carrot & Neroli, and the other frequents Japanese Plum & White Tea and Cucumber & Honey, but I'm really curious about the others as well.

TokyoMilk Greeting Cards — Retail Value $5.50 each

It's become the norm for subscribers to receive three blank greeting cards among the curation. They're typically vintage-inspired and touched with a little sparkle. Occasionally they're amusing, other times they're underwhelming. Personally I'd be OK with a break from receiving the greeting cards, but I do sometimes find use for them.

TokyoMilk Let Them Eat Cake Candle — Retail Value $20

I think we all enjoy when candles make appearances in our box! This one has notes of Citrus Zest, Mimosa, Rosewood, and Mandarin. Such a pleasant combo! It offers a lightness and brightness to the room that provides a lovely contrast to the natural deepening of ambience fall brings.

TokyoMilk Kiss Kiss Black Cherry Lip Balm — Retail Value $10

Lip balms are another recurring inclusion that I've come to realize I could take or leave. The reason being that they come in a variety of designs but are always the same scent. The cherry scent (and slight flavor) is just too fruity for me. Down the line I'd love to see a lip tint or a different style/scent of lip balm.

The Cottage Greenhouse Cucumber & Honey Fine Salt Scrub — Retail Value $28

Here's another Cottage Greenhouse including in a scent we see regularly. We know it! We enjoy it! I'm pleased to have it in my arsenal, to use when my current scrub runs out.

I like the texture and grit to this scrub, and have found that it works well for getting bicycle grease off my skin. It's also hydrating thanks to its avocado and cherry oils.

Infinite She Vibrant Eau de Parfum — Retail Value $48

Guys, this feels like a big deal: I've found an Infinite She scent I like! This is the first scent I've connected with from this line since its launch in 2021. It does still have a youthful vibe to it, but thanks to notes of Vetiver it's got a lower frequency and a more textured delivery than this line typically gives.

Value - Was This Box Worth It?

The Cost: $59.99 + $6.95 shipping to the contiguous United States.

Value Breakdown: Fall 2023 with the Margot Elena Box included a total of 8 products (considering the 3 cards as 1 item), adding up to a value of $219.50. The box costs $66.94 with shipping included, so just the same as last quarter (and most quarters), this breaks down to $8.37 per item. There has never been doubt in my mind that this box is an amazing value, with high-quality items that are beautiful inside and out, and just as much of a treat to gift as they are to keep.

Key Takeaways

There was plenty I enjoyed about this Margot Elena Box, highlights being the nostalgic scent of Savage Belle Eau de Parfum, the candle, and the surprisingly textured Vibrant Eau de Parfum. But it did lack a bit of wow factor. Whereas the past few quarter included some longed-for exciting and exclusive home products—a tote bag, a dish towel and spatula, a trinket dish—this quarter contained nothing of the sort, not even an exclusive item. Was that a little disappointing? Yes. Will I always and forever adore the Margot Elena subscription anyway? Always and forever, yes.

Oh wow this is a great deal and items I really need. If not for the shipping charge I might go for it, but I’m on a no spend. Also it’s hit or miss with fragrance for me.

I’m tired of the cards and lip balms! But I loved getting two full size fragrances.

Christen, I loved how you touched on the power of scents to evoke recall of childhood memories. How the Tokyo Milk parfum brought back the sense of being near enough to your Dad to smell his now discontinued shampoo is a great example. I also like reading the vocabulary you use to describe scents and perfumes. Thank you for also finding out whether subscribers are kept from receiving certain scents with The Cottage Greenhouse brand. It’s funny, I’m always happy to receive lip balms and note cards, but wish I would never see a hand cream in this box again.

I love this sub and one of my favorite things about it are the cards! Lol I’m a stationary girl so always happy to give these out! Got a different candle, but love the lip balm and always excited if it’s not for me I can always gift it to someone!

I’m a stationery lover too, and hearing you say this softens me to these cards—I have all sorts of greeting cards in a big drawer, and I suppose these provide variety! Thanks for your input!

I have had this box since it started, I am missing that special item. I agree about the salt scrub I could not get mine to come out😒
I will continue to subscribe, I hope they bring back those special items🩷

Two perfumes in the same box? That’s unusual for this sub. No household items, though.

I am not sure who thought it was a good idea to package the salt scrub in a tube! It is HORRIBLE to get out and use! It gets clumped up and blocks the opening then you shake it super hard to get it flowing again to get a giant glob come out and splatter everywhere! It has been the only thing I hate about this box. Got a tube of it last box (or time before-they all blend together!) and it felt like SUCH A WASTE. I understand saving on packaging and I support that-but a salt scrub DOES NOT belong in a tube! Plus tubes are SO yucky in the shower-they get water in the lip then you tilt it and get a cold dose of water when you use it next! LOL I guess I just hate tubes for showers! Bad idea!

I agree on the cards–lets lose those..we have had enough.

But I disagree on the lip balm-I love it and use it regularly so glad to restock that 🙂

With that said-I did skip this season and I am glad-it is kinda underwhelming…hoping they do better for Winter.

Interesting, Jodi, I have not had the experience with my salt scrub tube clogging, but I can so see it happening. Truth be told I squeezed out a little to show the texture for this review, but I have yet to actually use this tube, because I have tons leftover in the last one we received. Salt scrub is nice to have on hand but I personally don’t use it every time I bathe, so it lasts quite a long time and needs not be sent too frequently.

In other news, so glad you’re loving the lip balm! I love hearing different perspectives on the items that didn’t do it for me, because it always warms me up to them!

LeslieK.

I was disappointed in this box. Mostly repeats of previous items and a lot of scents that I don’t like. First box that I really haven’t found at least one thing that I really loved.

The title says Summer but the box says Autumn Beauty n dancing leaves. If I wanted to order this box, what season would I request?

Christen Russo

Oh gosh, Katie, thanks for pointing out my error. It’s the Fall box. I’ve updated the title just now!

I got a different candle. I think I will be pausing to use up products I have
