BREO BOX Review Fall 2023

I'm new to the scene of BREO BOX, so admittedly, I may have had my cruise control set a mile or two higher than usual after I noticed my package had been delivered. I resisted the urge to check out more than the first spoiler, so I had no idea just what this box might contain and was extremely excited to dig in! This month's theme was all about embracing change with fall adventures in mind, and was quite fitting for me personally, as in September I headed back to the classroom with an entirely new admin team. How does one encompass such an idea in one box you might ask? Read below to find out!

Like I mentioned above, BREO BOX is an entirely new subscription for me, but one I have had my eye on for quite some time. Packaged in a box that is designed using a single-sided printing method, the entire presentation is beautiful. Gently arranged in a cloth sack, the contents of the box arrived safely at my door, and I couldn't wait to dig in.

Welcome Card

To introduce this season's box, we received a sort of welcome card that features a QR code linking us to the fall 2023 catalog. There is also a short description as to the theme of this month's box and how it was curated for fall adventures. While I'm used to printed content cards containing all item info, I do have to say, I appreciated the very detailed information the website provided, along with videos in use, and retail value.

Also included was an advertisement for one of the items featured in this box. Swanwick not only makes anti-blue light bulbs, but blue light glasses as well!

RiddiaPress - Portable Iron - Retail Value $32

Small in size, but mighty in heat, this portable iron uses a patented heating circuitry that heats it up almost instantly. This iron features built-in sensors that adjust to the perfect heat settings for your clothing, and is the size of an avocado. Perfect for travel, this is literally small enough to fit in a purse. To charge, a USB cord is provided, and will fully charge in under two hours.

While I don't personally travel a whole lot, I do sew. One of my least favorite parts of sewing (especially during appliqué) is dragging out my ironing board and iron for small pieces. This has come in super handy and has found a home right next to my Baby Lock. With a flick of a switch, this itty bitty iron turns on, and you can instantly feel the heat. In case you do forget to shut it off, it will turn off on its own, which is a plus. I've tried this guy on a variety of fabrics, and it has worked well on them all. While I am using a little unconventionally, I am actually really excited this was part of the fall line-up!

Carson PageGlow - Retail Value $40

As an educator, I have spent a good majority of motherhood reading to my boys. I can think of nothing more powerful than the ability to read. That being said, all three of us prefer physical books over the digital versions and for that I am so thankful! This inclusion is one that works with paperback books to provide a light without disturbing others around you. Rechargeable, and with an LED bulb, this clip casts a gentle glow across your pages in three stages, as you choose. Also included is an ergonomic thumb groove and clip that lets you attach the book to your reading material. Lastly, instead of needing to replace batteries, this light comes with a USB-C wall adapter, for ease of use. Neat!

Like I mentioned above, I am all about physical books, as are my kids. I tried using a kindle but found it uncomfortable to hold and just not the same as a paperback. This light has come in very handy to read "Warrior Girl Unearthed" while my husband snores away. While extremely helpful for me, it has also been excellent for car reading. I tend to get nauseous when reading in the car, but the boys absolutely love this. Another interesting, and fun inclusion to my first BREO BOX!

Power To Go MagPak Dual Power Bank - Retail Value $49

I run an iPhone11 and my battery is terrible. I hardly use the thing, and by 5:00 p.m. it's at 10% battery life. Generally this isn't a huge deal because I have chargers at school and at home, but because my car charger quit working, I have been left phoneless a few too many times. The next item we received will change all that, as it is a power bank charger. This 5000mAh power pack can charge two devices at once via wired and wireless technology. With USB-A and USB-C ports, this pack is compatible with many devices and provides ample power to keep your devices charged throughout the day. There is a magnetic back that can be adhered to a device for a wireless option. Small enough to toss in your purse, this really can be a lifesaver! I charged it up overnight, and it brought my phone back from 10% - 100%. Yay!!

Fellow Stagg Stovetop Tea Kettle- Retail Value $85

I am not a tea drinker, which is ironic because I own about 18 antique tea pots that I have displayed in my curio cabinet. While this definitely is more contemporary than anything I own, I am sort of loving it, especially because it pairs fantastically with my husbands French press! Sleek in design, with a sophisticated stainless steel spout, this really makes a cup of coffee seem extra fancy. Complete with a silicone top and thermometer, you just can't go wrong. Functional in nature, this piece also looks beautiful when set on the stove.

Did I absolutely need a fancy tea kettle? Probably not, but it does elevate the look of my stove, and makes some really mean SwissMiss.

Swanwick Better Nights Anti-Blue Light LED Bulb- Retail Value $25

As the included advertisement stated, we also received a Swanwick anti-blue light LED bulb. This bulb is designed to reduce exposure to blue light all while creating a soothing environment that enhances your sleep quality. Compatible with most standard light fixtures, this bulb is easy to install, and helps transform your bedroom into a relaxing, sleep haven. Especially beneficial to people that spend extended periods of time in front of screens, this bulb is designed to improve sleep quality.

I was very intrigued by this idea of the anti-blue light bulb, and was eager to put it in my son's lamp. I recently re-painted our hallway and purchased a really fun small chandelier, but the clear glass leaves the hallway lit up like an airplane runway. Charlie likes a bit of light in his room, so he's been sleeping with his lamp on and the hallway light off, but it was a little too bright. As you can see, from the before and after pictures, the anti-blue light bulb is quite yellow, but really creates more ambiance than the regular bulb. Charlie is a fan because he thinks it looks cooler, and I like the idea that it may help him get more quality sleep at night. A win-win for everyone!

Tooletries The Scalp Massager - Retail Value $20

Designed to massage your head and scalp, this massager features silicone bristles that are said to provide a gentle touch, alleviating headaches and helping to deep clean the roots and scalp. Waterproof and portable, you can easily toss this into a toiletry bag or purse.

Gentle touch eh? Our entire family of four tried this out and didn't find it gentle at all. Charlie mentioned it might feel good if he were bald, but he currently has a mullet, so he did not enjoy the scalp massage. Hank's massage lasted about 5 seconds and then, as you can see, he requested a back massage with it instead, which is said felt much better. Charlie decided to also jump on the back massage bandwagon, and now has added a mini back massage to his bedtime routine. What did you think of this massager? I too liked it as a back massager much better than a scalp one!

Value – Was This Box Worth It?

Honestly, I thought this was a very interesting curation of items, and enjoyed them all, though some in unconventional ways. The item with the highest retail value (the teapot) is one I probably didn't need, but is one I've come to use more often than I thought I would. I also have really enjoyed the mini iron, page light, and charger, which made the box definitely worth it for me. Overall, I was satisfied with this season's curation, and am already looking forward to the winter BREO Box. What did you think of the fall BREO Box?

The Cost: $159 per quarter + free shipping to the contiguous US.
