This is a review of the "Protect" box.

First Impressions

Bespoke Post almost always has a good presentation. They have a different, perfect-sized box – or bag – for everything.

Tilit Portland Apron with Vegan Leather Straps - Estimated Price $???

I have a habit of wiping my dirty hands on my shirt and pants, especially when I'm cooking. I usually try to utilize a towel (see photo), but knew I needed to step my game up to a proper, mature cooking apron. I also have a habit of getting things from Bespoke Post in the wrong season. So I jumped at the chance to get the "Protect" box, even though most of my grilling is done for the year. Available in cream or forest green, the apron is 100% cotton canvas with 100% Cotton webbing. (I was surprised to find the cream fabric is literally identical to my background for shooting photos. So I had to switch to the gray.) There are two large front pockets and a smaller chest pocket for things like writing utensils or a meat thermometer. The leather neck strap is vegan and removable. After looking at Tilit's site, I see now that I was supposed to wrap the strap around my back and tie it in front. I guess that tells you how often I've worn an apron. Looking at my photo, it sort of looks like a butcher's apron and I'm wondering if green might have been a more mature choice. I personally like when functional items show their wear and tear, so I'm excited to get this dirty.

Note: The "Portland" apron does not seem to be anywhere on Tilit's website. Not sure why. There are many similar-looking aprons ... with many different prices. The closest visually is the Luxe Chef, which has the leather strap and two pockets. However, the retail price for the Luxe is $105 and I don't think the Portland has that kind of price tag. I did find the apron on Poshmark selling for $89 with a listed retail price of $105. So, I'm not sure what to think.

Kat Home Chef's Pot Holder - Retail Price $10

I always like when Bespoke Post throws in a second or third item to not only pump up the value but also round out a nice box of useful items. This pot holder isn't exactly exciting, it is useful and classic. It's soft, 100% cotton, and machine washable. It's pretty standard, but I like the thought and look.

Verdict

I always like a Bespoke Post box that is exactly what I expected. I saw the apron. It was what I wanted. It was what I got. Done. If I had to complain about something, I would like to see the fabric be a little beefier. And I would have preferred a glove to a pot holder. However, overall, I was very happy. I'll be reaching for this apron time after time.

Let's Talk About Value

To be honest, I have no clue what this box could cost. I'm going to completely guess and wager it is around $80. I think the apron fabric isn't as good of quality as the ones on the site. Still, I'm estimating this at $16 more than the subscription cost ($54 including shipping). While that is a complete guess, with this theoretical money, I'm going to buy a nice piece of meat to cook on the grill.

To Wrap Up

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, the "Protect" is available at the time of this post. If you ever do miss out on something though, be sure to check back, because boxes usually return or there are similar items.

I used to love Bespoke Post and I’m sure others will confirm the past year all the boxes went downhill in terms of quality and value. Yet the price increased. Not worth it anymore.

Thanks for the review!

I’ve always liked buying Bespoke Post items for gifts, plus we used to subscribe, because the quality was good. This looks underwhelming. IMHO, the cotton quality looks inferior because it’s visibly too thin, and I dislike the fake “leather”. I think the potholder was a mistake and there definitely should have been a glove or something similar. I might have purchased this for a gift but it’s very disappointing.
