First Impressions

This month’s box is the ‘Summer Essentials’ edition. I’m interested to see what curation has been sent our way to face the summer head-on.

Now, on to the items!

ALLKEM Press-On Nails in Daring Red Medium Long Ballerina and Mocha Long Coffin - Retail Value $29.98

Whoaaa, here we have not one but two press-on nail sets from Allkem. For a while, I got really into using those handy nail stickers, but I haven’t done that for a minute. Maybe these will inspire me to shake it up. The first set is Daring Red Medium Long Ballerina and the second is Mocha Long Coffin. Now, unless it’s for a special occasion, long nails aren’t an everyday look for me personally… I usually go for a classic straight nail; I do too much typing on a regular work day to make having long, pointy nails like that feasible. But these press-ons are truly stunning. They look great, especially in person, and the quality seems on par if not better than other press-ons I’ve seen in the past. You won’t have to worry about these breaking during a night out; they are solid.

EXSENS Intime Fresh Intimate Cleansing Foam, 150 ml - Retail Value $13.50

This is my new favorite thing. I’ve received quite a few products from Exsens in the past, so I already know the high quality of the brand. This Intime Fresh Intimate Cleansing Foam from Exsens is really nice, and the foam makes it feel extra luxurious. The texture cleanly washes away, and it’s not at all irritating to my most delicate skin. With an aloe vera and rose water formula, it’s very gentle and pH balanced, which I appreciate. There is a mild rose fragrance to it, but it’s not at all overpowering. I typically go for unscented or fragrance free, since various scents may mess with your pH levels or cause irritation, but I’m happy to say that I haven’t had any issues with this foam.

NOW SOLUTIONS Aloe Soothing Gel, 237 ml - Retail Value $8.99

This Now Solutions Aloe Soothing Gel came just in time for battling the dead of summer. Whether your skin is dry, burnt, irritated, etc., applying this gel really helps to alleviate any stinging or itching. I really love the texture; it’s incredibly cooling to the skin, and thanks to the aloe-based formula, it’s non-irritating even for sensitive skin. This is the perfect thing to have on hand especially during this time of year. Bug bites, sunburns, or maybe even poison ivy? No problem. This aloe vera gel can handle it.

PHRESH WELLNESS EverGreen Aluminum-Free Natural Deodorant, 60 ml - Retail Value $14.99

I love the idea behind this Phresh Wellness Aluminum Free Evergreen Natural Deodorant. Natural ingredients and zero-waste packaging? Awesome. Just one small issue… The aluminum-free bit. Let’s just say that I’ve had a few scarring experiences with others wearing natural deodorant in the past, and it’s given me an extreme paranoia about my own body odor. But then again, that was a while ago, and I’m ready to give it a go once again. I really do appreciate the fresh evergreen scent of the deodorant; it’s not overpowering to my nostrils but seems strong enough to tackle the average person’s B.O. It’s a nice size too, yet compact enough for travel. I’m excited to give this a try over the long-term.

PUFFCUFF EdgeMaster 3-in-1 Edge Brush/Styling Tool - Retail Value $16.00

PuffCuff is a brand that’s new to me, and I’m very intrigued by their products thus far. This EdgeMaster 3-in-1 Edge Brush/Styling Tool is a welcome inclusion to this month’s box. The first thing I noticed is that it has silicone bristles! I’m thinking this might be easier to keep clean over the long-term as opposed to my regular edge brush, and if that’s the case, an edge brush with silicone bristles is the only kind of edge brush I’ll be using from now on. The bristles are a bit soft but dense enough that this 3-in-1 tool still works pretty well for me when it comes to styling.

PUFFCUFF Junior Single - 3-inch, 1-pc - Retail Value $11.00

Another wonderful product from PuffCuff, this PuffCuff Junior is just the thing I need to get a nice poof in my hair quickly and easily. I especially love that it’s clear so that it doesn’t stand out too much while in my hair. The way the product is made, you can clip it right onto your hair, and it doesn’t give a super tight-looking ponytail puff like a regular hair tie would. Plus, having this in my stash saves me from the hassle of trying to find a hair tie that’s actually big enough and strong enough to hold my head of hair securely enough. Best of all, though, is the fact that this allows me to keep my hair in a nice puff without getting a migraine from a really tight hair tie. I’ll get a lot of good use out of this!

ZENTOES Fuzzy Moisturizing Gel Heel Socks, 2-pair - Retail Value $14.99

Oh my gosh, only once before have I ever received a product like this in a subscription box, so I am absolutely thrilled with this inclusion. These ZenToes Fuzzy Moisturizing Gel Heel Socks are the best. I honestly wish I had an unending abundance of these. The other day, I came home from a long day of standing in heels, and later that night, I put on these heel socks before bed… Wow. They provide such a relieving sensation and were comfortable enough for me to keep on the entire night. When I removed these in the morning, my heels were incredibly moisturized and felt wonderfully smooth to the touch. These socks use a mixture of jojoba seed oil, olive oil, and vitamin E to deliver a hefty dose of hydration to your heels. I couldn’t be happier with these. They are reusable and washable by hand, and the pack comes with not one but two pairs, which I truly appreciate. I also enjoy that these are in a resealable bag, and best of all, the open toe design is what makes these super comfortable, especially if you’re not someone who can usually stand wearing socks to bed (like myself).

Verdict

This was an awesome Cocotique box! My favorite item this month was the PuffCuff junior clip. It’s something entirely new to me, and I appreciate that it was made with thick, textured hair in mind. The PuffCuff 3-in-1 edge brush is also great because of the unique silicone bristles. I think it’ll be much easier to keep cleaner than my usual edge brushes. I really love the heel socks from ZenToes; they will be perfect for the dry patches on my heels that I’ve noticed after doing pilates or yoga barefoot.

Now Solutions’ aloe gel is a great inclusion especially for a summer box, and I have to say, I appreciate the generous sizing of the product. The cleansing foam from Exsens is great because it’s something I use on a regular basis and something I’ll always need to repurchase, so it’s nice to have a backup on hand. Although I’m always a bit skeptical of natural deodorants, this one from Phresh Wellness has a nice, fresh evergreen scent that I don’t mind. Lastly, the two press-on nail sets from Allkem… I’m not sure how often I’ll reach for these, but these nail sets are pretty and seem to be good quality. Overall, I thought this was a really great box! I love it when the box includes more everyday products, and the value is definitely there.
