Add to Cart is a reader-interest series that breaks down products and launches in beauty and skincare from your wish list. Has something caught your eye and preoccupied your desires? What products are you curious to learn more about? Let us know what's living on your wish list in the comments - each month, we'll select, buy, and review one product to see if it lives up to the hype!

Welcome to another round of Add to Cart! Glossier just released a new lip product so you know my entire life went on hold until I could try it out. The downside? Ordering from Glossier. Luckily, I waited a few days and ordered from Sephora, claiming those sweet, sweet VIB points.

The Product I Chose:

Glossier G Suit Soft Touch Lip Crème, 6 mL - $22

My Subscription Addiction paid for this product. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

The Packaging

Like almost everything Glossier, these liquid lipsticks arrived in minimal and millennial pink regalia. The tubes are plastic, have a nice weight, and feature a clear bottom displaying the shade inside. The applicator has a triangular wedge shape for precision application in the cupids bow, though, honestly, I think it doesn't grab enough product in one go. This is a weird thing to be happy about, but I love that the wands stay pretty clean with each usage. It looks nicer, speaks to smart design, and should prevent the wands and caps from being covered in gunky product over time.

The Texture

This formula is designed to be demi-matte, meaning it gives the whole look of a matte lip but never gets too dry or flaky. It kind of has a whipped texture and the pigment levels are off the chart. The downside is that the formula smells like plastic. And over time, I found it drying, though I admittedly have dry lips that I am constantly biting. The first time I used this stuff, I actually hated it and I was ready to really complain in this review. But after a few more days it grew on me for sure. I just wish it didn't smell like straight-up chems.

The Colors

I try to always grab two shades when I review a lip product and I make a point to grab two very different shades. I found the color selection of this product to be very nice and I struggled to narrow it down to just two for this review. I settled on a natural peach (Curve) and a bold, fun pink (Flip). Both were so pretty on! And the one-swipe color is no joke, though, again, I wish the applicator held more. Curve is a great everyday shade that compliments my natural makeup vibes really well. And Flip, well, that shade is pure summer fun. You can't help but smile when you wear this color.

In terms of longevity, this isn't going to be an all-day lipstick. I reapplied every few hours which doesn't actually bother me at all. I did find that Flip left behind a beautiful stain that I think is an extra plus!

My Takeaway

So, this isn't a perfect launch from Glossier. And unlike their Balm Dotcom that they should have left alone, I kind of hope this formula is tweaked a little in the future. The smell is going to be an issue for many, and I would imagine anyone with super dry lips would find this only exacerbates that issue with continued wear. But, the more I wear these, the more I really like them.

Should You Buy Glossier G Suit Soft Touch Lip Crème?

This is a yes if:

  • You love a matte lip without a flaky finish.
  • You want high-impact color in a great shade selection.

Skip it if:

  • You're smell sensitive/picky.
  • Your lips are already dry and flaky.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

LOL I’m actually curious why the downside is ordering from Glossier. I’ve never ordered directly from them. Is it a not-great experience?

I think she meant you don’t get anything by ordering from Glossier directly, whereas you get a few points when ordering from Sephora that you can accumulate and then redeem for a tiny little sample.

I’m interested in reviews on the Glow Recipe cleanser and the mascara!
