First Impressions

This month’s theme is ‘Self-Care is Self Love.’ Now that I’m a bit older and a bit wiser, I can absolutely say that that sentiment rings true. Self-care IS self love, and too many people don’t give themselves enough of it. Let’s get to products and see what kind of pampering awaits.

Now, on to the items!

SPALIFE BEAUTY Skin Tint Hydrocolloid Pimple Patches in Dark, 14 patches - Retail Value $6.00

I love pimple patches, but what I love even more is how inclusive the product is. SpaLife’s Skin Tint Hydrocolloid Pimple Patches are available in a variety of skin tones, and the one I received (‘Dark’) happens to work perfectly with my own shade. I have never before seen a pimple patch that was created to match the shade of my skin color, and it was really nice how ‘seen’ that made me feel. With these tinted pimple patches, I can now conceal a blemish, under makeup or not, and it’s barely noticeable. I applied one of these to a stubborn zit I’ve had for a few days, and this patch really helped to clear the pore without drying out my skin in the slightest. I’ve always seen great success from hydrocolloid patches, and these are no different. I’m thrilled to have them.

RED SEAL Whitening Toothpaste, 100 ml - Retail Value $8.79

Oooh, I love the packaging on this Whitening Toothpaste from Red Seal; it’s giving me vintage vibes. What I especially enjoy is the natural formula with activated charcoal and without any artificial colors or flavors. Clean ingredients are important to me, especially when it comes to something going inside my body, but efficiency counts as well, and this toothpaste has it all. This whitening formula leaves my teeth feeling fresh and clean, without the harsh aftertaste and chemicals of regular toothpaste. Plus, the tube is large, and a little goes a long way, so this will last me for quite a while.

OLIVE NATURAL SKINCARE Eye Contour Cream, 20 ml - Retail Value $29.99

First, I love eye creams. Second, I love the fun packaging of this one; the colorful box is perfect for summertime. Third, one of the formula’s ingredients is green coffee bean. This Eye Contour Cream from Olive Natural Skincare really impressed me! Finding the right eye cream can be difficult; I need a lighter texture as opposed to a cream as a cream often leads to irritation for me. This is virtually scentless, which is a big plus when it comes to any product going around my eyes. The texture is creamy but very lightweight, almost like a water-based gel product, and it absorbs quickly. Very hydrating and gentle to the delicate skin of my under-eyes. I love how nicely this cream works to depuff and hydrate the bags under my eyes, making me look wide awake, alert, and enthusiastic, no matter how tired I feel on the inside.

NOW Tea Tree Essential Oil Blend, 10 ml - Retail Value $7.99

I love a good rollerball; in fact, this form of application is one of my favorites when it comes to a medicinal type of product like this one. This NOW Tea Tree Essentials Oil Blend Organic Roll-On makes it quick and easy to apply the healing blend directly to that emergency zit that just happens to pop up at the most inopportune time. This blend also works wonders when it comes to bug bites, leaving behind a cooling sensation. Plus, I like how compact it is; super easy to toss into one of my bags and have it with me while on the go. It’s perfect for those late summertime parties where I’m almost guaranteed to get at least a few mosquito bites. As someone sensitive to scents, I appreciate that the scent isn’t too overpowering. I like having this on hand.

PALMER’S Skin Success GLOW Radiance Sheet Mask, 1 mask - Retail Value $5.55

I’ve received this particular sheet mask in the past, and I loved it. Palmer’s Skin Success GLOW Radiance Sheet Mask is a very luxurious mask, packed with star ingredients like white lily, licorice, and Japanese soyngyi mushroom. The unique combination works to fight against dull, dry skin, and boost radiance. After my nighttime skincare, I applied this mask and let it sit for ten minutes. The mask’s adhesion to my face was impressive; there’s nothing more annoying to me than having to adjust a sheet mask after the slightest movement. After ten minutes, I took off this face mask to reveal refreshed, glowing skin. I highly recommend this sheet mask after a long day; so incredibly soothing to my skin!

PALMER’S Coconut Oil Lip Balm, 4 g - Retail Value $2.95

I am obsessed with coconut oil; obsessed like ‘I have a Costco-sized tub’ obsessed. I put it all over my body, all over my hair, and it works wonders. I don’t need any luxury body lotion, hand cream, or lip balm. Just give me some coconut oil, and I’m good. But when I’m on the go, transporting my tried-and-tried coconut oil tub is extraordinarily inconvenient. This Coconut Oil Lip Balm from Palmer’s makes it easy to have my coconut oil available at all times. I love the inclusion of SPF 15, and the formula is extremely moisturizing yet somehow lightweight. Plus, it’s free of any nasty ingredients, which I very much appreciate. I can’t say enough good things about this lip balm.

URBAN HYDRATION Breath of Fresh Hair Shampoo and Conditioner, 360 ml x2 - Retail Value $20.00

I absolutely love it when a subscription box includes a haircare duo. This Breath of Fresh Hair Shampoo and Conditioner from Urban Hydration is a great set that I’m happy to add to my shower. The shampoo has a delicious scent that reminds me of a tropical summertime getaway; strong piña colada / pineapple vibes. The conditioner has a bit more of a paste-like scent. Both of the products are free of all sulfates and other nasty ingredients, which I very much appreciate. I also really love the cute packaging bottle design. With an oil-based formula featuring avocado, almond, and argan oils, this haircare is incredibly hydrating and leaves my hair feeling clean and hydrated but not at all stripped.

Verdict

This was a great Cocotique box! I love it when a box includes everyday items like shampoo and conditioner, toothpaste, etc. The highlight for me was the Urban Hydration shampoo and conditioner haircare duo. With such a hydrating formula, this set works perfectly for me and leaves my hair feeling clean but never stripped. Red Seal’s toothpaste has an excellent all-natural whitening formula; I’m interested to see the difference after some long-term use. I was thrilled to see SpaLife’s skin tone pimple patches. The fact that something like this finally exists makes me feel seen. Palmer’s lip balm was another welcome addition to this self-care themed box, keeping my lips perfectly moisturized from morning ‘til night. Sheet masks are always a hit with me, and Palmer’s GLOW sheet mask left my skin feeling soothed after a long day. I was impressed with the formula of Olive Natural Skincare’s eye cream, and it definitely helps for my early morning Zoom meetings. Lastly, the tea tree roll-on from NOW… I’m not an avid user of essential oils, but this roll-on is essential for summertime bug bites, so I’m happy to have it. Overall, I thought this was a great box, with products that reflected the theme, and the value is definitely there.
