Breo Box Review Spring 2023

Breo Box is always a highly rated subscription on our site, so I was excited to get this spring box and try it out. They had already released a couple sneak peeks of a few of the products and I was definitely intrigued and hopeful when I saw them!

One of the things I love about this box (aside from the products) is the packaging. Instead of just chucking the products in and letting them fly loosely around the box, they put them in a dust bag and pack them in a sturdy box that swings open. Now, this is probably not a big deal for most people, but as a mom with two little kids who end up having tons of school projects...these boxes are actually super handy!

But what about the products? Well, for the most part I loved almost everything they sent and thought they were pretty useful products. Let's get to this seasons Breo Box review, so you can check them out for yourself.

Statik Charge Tray — Retail Value $89.99

Ok, soooo I love the idea of this. A bedside tray to keep everything organized and charged is a fantastic product. In fact, I actually have something similar already, just in a different form. Unfortunately for me, the tray would not charge my phone wirelessly. Now, that is no fault of the tray as it works just fine. My phone is a couple-years-old One Plus (I know, I know, I'm a green bubble person) and as far as I can tell is not Qi enabled. The Statik tray will work on any phone that is Qi enabled, which is most smart phones these days. I tried it on my older iPhone and it worked great. So, before you decide to order this BREO Box or get upset if your phone is like mine and doesn't charge, be sure to check to see if you phone is compatible. The Statik Charge Tray is one of the bigger items in this season's box, so you will want to get your use out of it if you can.

The Statik Charge Tray also has a USB-C and USB-A charging port, so you can charge additional devices. Both of these worked great. The other side of the tray is a small leather area where you can organize things such as keys, glasses, additional devices, basically anything that you consistently need by your bedside or pick up in the morning. I think for most people this product is going to be a great addition to the box and will be happy with this charging tray. My husband, who has an iPhone, will be getting this now on his side of the bed, so thankfully it's still going to go to good use in our household!

Rocket Book Cloud Cards — Retail Value $27.99

I'm not going to mince words with this one...I don't like them. I can appreciate a product that is trying to find ways to reuse things, however, these just seem like a stretch. First off, to write everything down on a notecard, then take a photo to upload to an app, then have to send that off to people, just seems tedious. Why not just use your notes app or write an email? I could see that there may be a time when you need to draw something to clarify it, but can't you then just do that on a piece of paper and take a photo of it? It seems as if there are one (and sometimes two!) extra steps with these.

You can also only use the supplied notecards and pen, so will need to store these every time you are finished and not lose them. Which for me...can be a challenge. I remember writing notecards back in college and it was horrible. Sometimes, hundreds of notecards would have to be written. Nowadays, there are notecard apps that you can just type your information into and I'm super annoyed they didn't have anything that easy when I was in school. If I went back to school tomorrow, there is no way I'd kill my hands writing all that study material again.

Now, I can understand there is also something nice about the old school way of doing things. Personally, I prefer an actual book to a Kindle, so I get there are people who might like the idea of these. They are also reusable, so you aren't just throwing them away when you are done. (Although, it felt so good to chuck those study cards after a test!) However, I think these would be better to just be marketed as reusable notecards. Take the digitization out of it, and just use these as reusable index cards.

MPOWERD Luci Solar Utility Portable Light — Retail Value $19.95

I absolutely love this solar light. This is a really handy and useful light that can pretty much be used anywhere. It has both solar charging capabilities and a USB charging port. The week I got this box it happened to be an incredibly rainy few days at our house, so I was unable to get it into the sun for more than a few minutes. I appreciated the fact that I could still charge and use this though despite the recent grey days here.

We are always outside in the summer here, so this will also be perfect to take on our camping trips and give the kids a reading light at night. In fact, the only problem I have with this is that they only sent one!

The light has three levels of brightness and one flashing setting. This little guy gives off some serious light as well. Even the dimmest setting is still a good bit of light. After it was fully charged, we hooked it onto my son's bunk bed and it lasted for hours. Needless to say, I'm really impressed with this product. And for the price, you really can't beat it!

Prepara Dressing Mixer — Retail Value $26.00

This thing is insanely easy to use! This dressing mixer is the perfect size and I love that I don't have to get out my blender or food processor to make dressing. This makes it so easy and really emulsifies the ingredients together. The only downside to this product is that it's hand wash only. Ugh...why!!?? However, a quick and easy way to do that is to wipe down the inside as best you can and then drop a couple drops of dish soap in with warm water and blend it up. This helps to clean up any remaining areas that you just can't get with a sponge.

The dressing mixer takes two triple A batteries and has a push button start. You need to hold the button down in order for it to stay on, but it only takes a few seconds to whip the dressing up. It then has a hole at the top that you can pour your dressing out from. This really is a great little product and I'm happy it was added to the spring BREO Box!

Riddia Sleep — Retail Value $24.00

This is a really cute idea, but I think it's best used for kids. My sleep schedule is ridiculously varied as some nights I need a glass of wine and Netflix and other nights I just want to crash with my kids and be well-rested for the next day. My kids, however, have a fairly consistent bedtime (except on weekends) so this is a great device to help their brains calm down and understand it's time for sleep. The light will stay on for one hour before bed and also turn on one hour before you wake up.

It works off a really simple premise: you just plug it in an hour before bed and then each night at the same time it will come on. Here's the thing though, there are no settings on it. I kind of love the simplicity of, but, for the life of me I couldn't figure out how long this thing thought you should sleep for and when you should wake up. I assumed it would be eight hours, however, I like my kids to get more than that at night. So, after testing it out I found that it wasn't really as accurate as I had hoped. It did last eight hours, but the first night I plugged it in at 11:15pm and the second night it came on automatically at 9:15pm. This put my eight hours at 5:15am, which is way too early for me and my kids to wake up.

Overall, I love the idea, but I think it needs a bit of tweaking in order to get it right.

Sneaker Mitt — Retail Value $15 (for 10 mitts)

These are made by a company called Trip Wipes. They make individually packaged wipes to make your trips easier and hassle-free. In the spring BREO Box there are two sneaker mitts for you to try and they do a really decent job. I had my kids use them on their sneakers and I'm not sure why, but they thought it was quite the novelty! I was also shocked at the amount of dirt that came off their shoes!

I'm not sure these would be something I would buy all the time, but if you have a particular pair of shoes you want to try and clean, these might be worth giving a shot!

Value – Was This Box Worth It?

Overall, yes. There was one product that I didn't like and one product that I wish worked a little better, but everything else I thought was a great addition to the box. I was bummed my phone won't charge on the tray, but again, not the tray nor BREO Box's fault. My kids and husband are now fighting over it, so it will still go to good use in our household! The salad mixer and solar light are great and I love that the price point makes them a fantastic deal also. As long as your phone is able to charge wirelessly (which most smartphones are nowadays) then this box is an amazing deal, and I would recommend it!

The Cost: $159 per quarter + free shipping to the contiguous US.

Value Breakdown: The total value of the box is $240 despite only costing $159. That's an $80 savings!

In a nutshell? I'm a bit of a walking contradiction!

I love traveling the world and stepping out of my comfort zone, but I can also be a complete introvert and will be totally happy hanging out at home with my family for days on end. I enjoy working out and going for runs or HIIT classes at the gym, but I also have no problem binging on a bag of cheetos and a glass of wine (which pairs surprisingly well together!). I love how I look dressed up and ready to hit the town, but am much more comfortable in a pair of sweats while watching The Mandolorian with my husband and two little boys. I love trying exotic foods and the different spices and textures that come with it, but my all-time-favorite meal is a juicy cheeseburger with fries.

So, maybe I should just call myself well-rounded!? Whatever it is, I keep an open mind about everything and am always on the hunt for a new and exciting adventure!

Love your honest review, Kelly! I am a longtime BREO box subscriber (I think I started with the 2nd or 3rd box). Some boxes are better for me than others but there is always something I never knew existed and never knew I needed. For me it was the salad dressing mixer. I make my own dressing but usually just mix up enough for a salad for one. This mixer is small enough to keep on a fridge door without taking up too much room. My YA son claimed the charger/catch-all as I knew he would. It’s much more versatile than his little cordless charger.
And while I love Rocketbook (I have 3 and use 2 almost daily) I agree with you on the index cards. I might try using them for family recipes. Not the most exciting BREO box but I still am very happy with this one.
p.s. My box had 4 of the sneaker wipes.
