Test of Time is a series that revisits a box from the past (~6+ months ago) to explore how it fared in the long term. We often review boxes with our First Impressions, but what impact and value did the items inside contribute to our lives? Find out in this series!

The allure of subscription boxes often fades away with time. What we once loved at first sight may lose its initial appeal and become run-of-the-mill over a few months, or even weeks. They say first impressions last a lifetime, but is that true for all subscription boxes? In this edition of Test of Time, we’ll revisit the Asystem box I tried out back in October of 2021. Find out below just how well its contents fared over the course of a year in my life!

TL;DR: How Did Asystem Fare?

  • I became a lifelong lover of all things CBD
  • Anything else that wasn’t CBD-based was a non-repeat for me
  • The Radical Relief Gel Roll-On and Superhuman Supplements are still sitting in my bathroom drawer

How Did Asystem Impact My Life?

Overall, Asystem introduced me to my new love - CBD. Yes, I had heard all about CBD and its wonders from the internet and (even my family), but I hadn’t tried it out myself. However, many of the products I tried from my Asystem box contained CBD, and, oh my, how it changed my life for the better!

As I had noted in my initial review, my husband and I devoured both the De-Stress and Sleep Gummies within the first week of having them, and we experienced results within the first day. This converted me into a CBD fan for life and I now take CBD daily for my anxiety and sleep because of it.

Would I repeat these gummies and the anti-inflammatory pills? Of course!

What Products Failed To Stand The Test Of Time?

I didn’t feel much of a need to continue with the other products that didn't contain CBD, as they were just extras and non-essentials for me. Sure, the Invigorating Cleanser, Defense Moisturizer, and Overnight Rebuilding Cream were fun to try out, but I didn’t find them to be absolute must-haves or life-changing products compared to the products with CBD.

Would I try them out again if I was gifted them? Absolutely! Would I buy them on my own to use daily? No. Although I ended up using them up, it took me several months to do so.

Were there any products I had left sitting in my bathroom drawer at the time of writing this article? Yes - Radical Relief Gel and Superhuman Supplements.

Don’t get me wrong - I love the idea behind Radical Relief Gel, but the product didn’t deliver as anticipated. I thought it would release a bit more gel than it did as you applied it, so I found myself practically hammering the roller onto my skin…with little results. I decided to hold on to this product rather than throw it away as it still slightly works if you depress it hard enough, but I was let down by this product and kept it on hand for the days that I need help massaging my back. In the end, Radical Relief Gel Roll-On works great as a massager…but that’s about it.

As far as the Superhuman Supplements go, I also really liked the concept behind this product, but my husband wasn’t a fan of anchovies for the fish oil in the Brainiac pills. Now, I realize he could just toss out this pill and use the others (which is what he did), but that’s such a waste, and Asystem could have used a better source like krill or cod liver.

My husband also didn’t like some of the forms used for certain nutrients, like iron and magnesium, and found the main MultiMan pills a bit difficult to stomach compared to his usual multi which uses the glycinate form for several nutrients. Finally, my husband discovered at least 2 vitamin packs that were compromised (i.e. opened or some pills were crushed) which didn’t give him much confidence in the overall quality of the supplements. In the end, my husband chose to use his usual multivitamin over Asystem’s Superhuman Supplements due to taste, digestibility, and overall quality.

The Verdict

Overall, I found roughly half of the products included in my original subscription box to prove helpful over time. While there were products I loved, like the CBD gummies, there were others that I certainly got use out of but wouldn't order again. Next time when I subscribe to Asystem, I'll make sure to include all of their CBD-based products but will toss out the supplements and skincare products from my order as they just didn't fit up my alley very well.
