First Impressions

Each month, Nourish Beauty Box usually arrives with an info card that has a quick overview of the box on one side and more detailed information about the products included on the other. This month I did not receive a card.

Usually this box comes with at least one Nourish Naturals product, which has been a staple brand of the box for as long as I can remember… But last month was different. So, I’m very interested to see if they’ve continued the trend in this month’s curation. I do appreciate when a box mixes it up since predictability can get boring over time.

Now, on to the items!

H. HONEYCUP Lip Scrub Gentle Exfoliator in Aloe Coconut, 14.2 g - Retail Value $20

The lips are one of those delicate areas that sometimes get overlooked when it comes to an everyday skincare routine. I’ve been guilty of this in the recent past, and I’m always working to improve my consistency. I love the name of the brand, ‘H. Honeycup,’ and I really love lip scrubs, so this is right up my alley. Packed with nine soothing and hydrating ingredients, the natural formula does a lovely job to exfoliate each and every bit of dry skin off your lips. I truly appreciate that the exfoliation is a sugar scrub rather than those little plastic beads of olde. Plus, the coconut oil works doubletime to lock in ultimate hydration, leaving behind nothing but smooth, supple lips. The formula is incredibly gentle too, and did I mention the scent? It’s giving me major tropical vibes and transported my mind to the nearest island, which I especially appreciate while we’re in the midst of a cold front.

PLANT BASED BEAUTY Avocado and Algae Face Mask, 30 ml - Retail Value $22

Although I’m a huge mask lover, a DIY mask like this has never been my go-to choice. I’d take a sheet mask any day; even a wash-off mask would do. But one I have to mix up myself before even getting it onto my face? It’s not happening, and I know that, so instead of wasting a perfectly good product like this Plant Based Beauty Avocado and Algae Face Mask, I’m going to pass this along to a friend of mine who is more into the DIY way of life.

One thing I did notice about this mask is that it’s truly a powerhouse asset for your skincare routine. With its superfood formula, it’s packed with vitamins, fatty acids, and antioxidants. So, whether you’re a seasoned pro or an adventurous beginner when it comes to DIY masks, this one is truly impressive in terms of the benefits it can provide after consistent use. Simply place up to two scoops of the mask into your palm and mix with an equal amount of water to make a paste. Leave that on for five minutes, wash it off, and you’re left with glowing skin.

RAIN ORGANICA I Am Enough Facial Oil Blend, 15 ml - Retail Value $34

I already have semi-oily skin that can get irritated somewhat easily. Due to this issue, I’ve never been one for oil-based products, especially when it comes to my face’s skincare routine. Now, oil on my body, I consider to be the ultimate hydration, but for my face, it’s a potential disaster. And believe me, I’ve done the research; I’m well aware that incorporating facial oils into your skincare can in fact reduce oil production. Maybe I’m just different from most because it’s the complete opposite for me. This ‘I Am Enough’ Facial Oil Blend from Rain Organica is a product I’ve received once before, and like before, while I won’t be using it in my skincare, I will indeed be hanging onto this for whenever my dry eczema patches flare up. I did find it to be instantly hydrating when applied to ultra-dry skin and along with it came absolutely zero irritation. While the scent is very natural, it’s not too overpowering and seems to go away rather quickly, which I appreciate. If you’re a fan of oils or get such dry skin that only an oil can combat, this might be just the thing for you.

MALAYA ORGANICS Repair and Style Hair Oil, 30 ml - Retail Value $48

I am always in need of more hair oil, and having used this specific product in the past, I am thrilled to have more. The Malaya Organics’ Repair and Style Hair Oil works fantastically for me. It’s easy to apply and evenly coat through my hair. The oil absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave my hair feeling greasy to the touch. I’m impressed with how nicely it smooths down any split ends I have while simultaneously taming any frizz and flyaways. I found that it doesn’t weigh down my curls at all, and it leaves my hair feeling silky and soft. Plus, the formula contains hair-strengthening properties, which I appreciate. Definitely one of my preferred hair oils.

Verdict

I thought this was a good month for Nourish Beauty Box! The highlight for me is absolutely the lip scrub from H. Honeycup because I am always trying to enhance my lip care routine. Malaya Organics’ hair oil is truly a great product, and it works wonders when it comes to hydrating my hair and also calming any frizz and flyaways. Rain Organica’s facial oil is luxuriously hydrating, and while I won’t be using it on my face, my eczema patch has already started to improve in texture. Lastly, the Plant Based Beauty is a superfood DIY mask that I’ll be passing along to a friend of mine, and they are sure to be impressed with the quality and benefits it provides. Overall, this was a nice collection of products, and I was thrilled to see that the subscription has strayed slightly from a makeup-heavy curation and instead put a self-care twist on things.

A dry mask that you prep yourself takes a few extra seconds, but offers several benefits. First, it stays fresh longer. A dry powder won’t spoil as easily when exposed to air and light. Second, you can customize it by adding a few drops of facial oil or even whole milk to your mixture to create a more beneficial paste. I understand it’s a bit more trouble, but in my opinion, it’s worth it.
