IPSY Glam Bag Plus is a $28 per month subscription box from IPSY. Every month you’ll receive five full-sized beauty products. The box will have a retail value of at least $120. (This box was voted as one of the best makeup subscription boxes and best beauty subscription boxes by MSA readers!)

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes).

First Impressions

As always, my goodies arrived in the pink IPSY bubble mailer and a drawstring bag. The design is a realistic leopard.

Also worth noting: I didn't make choices this month to see what kind of assortment would arrive!

Here is the info card.

Now, on to the items!

Reina Rebelde Presumida Palette - Retail Value $29

I really like the Day of the Dead inspiration behind this palette. I think for myself, it is tough to pull off a multi-use palette (this one is eyes and cheeks) with every shade being a winner. And that is where this one lost me a little bit. There are 4 eyeshadow shades and I personally would only use 2 of them often. The bold purple and coral are a bit much for me. I also thought those matte formulas could use more pigment. The shimmer eyeshadows were great though, and I loved the colors. I also found myself very fond of the blush and highlighter shades. All in all, I liked experiencing a palette from this smaller brand.

Pūrlisse Pumpkin + Ginger Detoxifying Charcoal Mask, 2.5 fl oz - Retail Value $48

I first experienced this mask in a FabFitFun assortment and it just isn't for me. First, I can't stand pumpkin spice anything. Second, the clay formula is drying on my face. I generally love Purlisse, but I really can't get into this mask. I will be passing this one on to an oily and PSL-loving friend.

Refreshments Cleansing Face Balm, 3oz - Retail Value $20

As someone who loves a cleansing balm and has had favorable experiences with Ipsy's Refreshments line, I expected to like this balm more. But it could have been more, well, balmy. It has a thinness to it that I just didn't like at all. The end result was good though: I had clean and soft skin. The other missing piece here was that this balm was completely odorless which made it feel a lot less fun and a lot more clinical than the gorgeous packaging would suggest. If this was reformulated with a natural scent and a thicker texture though? It would be my new obsession.

Pacifica Vegan Ceramide Barrier Eye Cream, 15 mL - Retail Value $16

It is never too early to start caring for the delicate and thin skin around your eyes. I wish I had started sooner myself! This is a very user-friendly sort of formula that you can't go wrong with. A few little dots of this creamy gel and your skin is moisturized and brighter. The vegan formula contains ceramides, soothing calendula, and strengthening amino acids. A little goes a long way and I rather like how affordable this tube is for how nice the results are.

PYT Beauty Friends with Benefits Lip Duo in 'Go-Getter'  - Retail Value $20

My last item was a lipstick and matte liquid lip duo in a super flattering rose shade. Mattes can be tricky since I am a lip biter, but I found both ends of this stick to have opaque coverage and give a matte finish without flaking or showing off the more unflattering texture of my lips. You can use both formulas together for some major drama or each looks great solo depending on what finish you prefer.

Verdict

This month's IPSY Glam Bag Plus was a little hit and miss. The hits were the lip duo and eye cream. Misses were the mask and the cleansing balm. I don't think this was a very "WOW" bag for me, but the value was technically still there, landing at $133 for a $28 bag. Hopefully, December brings a little more holiday excitement.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? You'll likely start with December as your first month. As of publication, there was no IPSY waitlist!

Cost Breakdown: This box costs $28, meaning each of the 5 items has an average cost of $5.60. Here is how that breaks down per item:

  • Palette $6.11
  • Mask $10.11
  • Cleansing Balm $4.21
  • Eye Cream $3.37
  • Lip Duo $4.21

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

Honestly, I would have been pretty happy with this bag. I got these items, some of which I chose, but only because I didn’t have any good choices: FIRST AID BEAUTY Ultra Repair Face Moisturizer, HEY HONEY
BE CLEAR Skin Purifying Bee Propolis Drops, R.E.M. BEAUTY
Practically Permanent Lip Stain Marker in Miss Berry, GLOSS MODERNE Clean Luxury Perfume Oil in Universelle, R+CO
Submarine Water Activated Enzyme Exfoliating Shampoo.

I’m surprised you don’t like some of these items! R+co is my favorite haircare brand, and I chose the clarifying treatment for my november bag, and it’s amazingggg. I also got the first aid moisturizer, which I’ve used before and excellent for calming skin and redness. I’ve also received the hey honey product but I have not tried it yet… Im really excited to though. I have acne and issues with dry spots and angry skin lol and it’s supposed to be good for all of that.

I’m sorry, I wasn’t clear. I posted in haste. I didn’t mean that I didn’t like any of the items. I already have multiples of the First Aid Beauty moisturizer. I am excited to try the Hey Honey Drops and the R+CO shampoo. I didn’t care for the perfume and am just “meh” about the lip stain marker. I have the same skin issues you do, so let’s hope the Hey Honey stuff works for both of us. 🙂

Is there a reason other than “let’s see what ipsy sends?” that you don’t pick your items? I’d rather see what you pick and your reviews of those items. My sense is that ipsy sends the overflow/less desirable products to people who seem not to care enough to pick their items. I could be wrong though. Love your reviews, Megan!

What’s with the freebird sale? I wanted to get one for my boyfriend but the code doesn’t work!
