What's Inside The Bag

So Susan Limited-Edition Makeup Bag, October 2022 - Retail Value $12

It seems like once October hits, a light switch is flipped and instead of reaching for cheerful pinks and oranges for summer, I am after moodier colors perfectly displayed on this bag. I am happy they're still into the animal themes, like this bird pattern, but I would have been a little happier to have a more centered view instead of just pieces of the bird in the corners. Other than that, I am happy with this month's bag.

Jelly Pong Pong Cosmetics Lip Patine in Talisman  - Retail Value $22.oo

Metallic formulas can be a little tricky to wear on lips that aren't perfectly smooth. I do a decent job of hydrating my lips, but they're definitely not in tip-top shape since summer has ended, and alone, this formula seems to accentuate any deep lines or cracks. When I add a balm to the mix, it looks much better, but it also takes away a little bit of the pigment. This red shade is gorgeous for the fall, and even though I think the finish is exaggerated on the website, it does provide a nice metallic sheen that can be played up by applying gloss to top it off.

Trifle Cosmetics Cheek Parfait in Marmalade - Retail Value $9.50

It is no secret that I am obsessed with cream products, especially for the cheeks. This stick is sooo pigmented, it is actually pretty intimidating to apply. Luckily I swatched it before applying directly to my face, otherwise, I think I would have had two red circular stains on the apples of my cheeks for the rest of the day. Since I knew what I was getting into, I ended up spraying a setting spray on my fingertips before dipping them into the stick. I rubbed my fingers together to get a watery paint, and then I applied to my cheeks. The spray ended up giving me a pretty dewy finish, but when I applied the stick directly to my lips it was matte.

So Susan Cosmetics The Silhouette Palette - Retail Value $45.00

This palette reminds me of silky satin sheets, and it is lovely. The colors range from pearly white to a hazy plum with a copper shadow thrown in to mix it up a little. The texture of these is soft and buttery and are best applied with your fingertips. I came up with my eye look below within about 5 minutes, which is exactly the kind of product this mom needs. If you're looking for an eye look to last all day, I would maybe look elsewhere; however, if you need a look that packs a punch for a few hours, this palette could be great when you're on the move.

So Susan Cosmetics Color Trip in Poser - Retail Value $18.00

Some parts of me still get very excited about glitter, no matter what format is comes in, but the more practical side of me sees a jar of loose pigment and wonders how these are still around when there are so many other options without the mess. I am out of glitter glue, so I used a glitter liner to stick this pigment on my lid, but it didn't work out too well. I do enjoy the metallic copper shade, especially for this time of year.

Swatched above: Jelly Pong Pong Lip Patine, So Susan Color Trip Pigment, Trifle Cosmetics Cheek Parfait, So Susan Cosmetics Silhouette Palette

I am wearing all of the products from this month's bag in this photo. This is probably my favorite look I've done, and it's all thanks to that cheek stain--lovely!

Verdict

This month's So Susan Color Curate was pretty solid; I enjoyed each product, and I always enjoy playing with all my new products. My favorite product has to be the Trifle Cosmetics Cheek Parfait; even though it was a little difficult to work with at first, I love how it looked watering it down with a setting spray. This sub included 5 full-sized products (including this month's bag), and I think the retail value of $106.50 is great for a $20.95 subscription!
