IPSY is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. For $13 per month, you get five full-size or deluxe-sized products, plus a cute makeup bag.

This is one of our top recommendations if you are looking for a subscription box - the value and sample sizes are amazing. (FYI – Ipsy sends out many different variations of their bag each month – so my review is just one of the bag variations you might receive!)

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes).

First Impressions

Your IPSY Glam bag will come in their standard pale pink bubble wrap mailer. When you open it up, you can always expect to find a makeup bag storing your new beauty products and an info sheet with additional details.

Every month you receive a makeup bag in addition to your five products. This month's bag is fun black bag (with a silver spider zipper pull!) with a matte-like finish, and a shiny lacquer-like design of a spider web contrasting against it.

The Breakdown – What’s Inside My October 2022 Ipsy Glam Bag

Best Face Forward Clarifying Toner, 20 mL - Estimated Value $3.80 (buy the 100 mL version for $19)

This is a gentle exfoliating toner made with salicylic, glycolic, and lactic acid along with green tea, vitamin C, and hyaluronic acid. I like toners like these for my sensitive skin- I am very cautious with exfoliation since my skin is sensitive, so I am much more comfortable reaching for exfoliating toners rather than stronger treatments. This didn't cause any stinging or burning, and it didn't leave my face feeling tight, either- I don't quite know that it was hydrating for my dry skin, but it wasn't drying.

Firma Beauty 405 Precision Angled Blending Brush Pro - Retail Value $13.99

This eyeshadow brush has really dense synthetic bristles that make it ideal for blending shadow into your crease. This brush had a good weight, which made it feel mice in my hand as I was using it so that’s always a plus.

Item Beauty Hey Hi Halo Liquid Highlighter in Electric, 5 mL - Estimated Value $6 (buy the 15 mL version for $18)

Item Beauty products have been popping up in subscription boxes since the brand was launched by Addison Rae, but so far I have no complaints- the products have performed well and the brand's aesthetic is a fun one. While I prefer powder highlighter, there is no denying this liquid highlighter is a beauty. The shade Electric is a pretty shimmery pink champagne, and it’s all shimmer, no glitter- no chunks of glitter here. It was really easy to dab a dot at the high point of my cheekbones and on the bridge of my nose and blend out, and I liked how seamless it became with my skin.

Jazmine Beauty Lip Lock Lipstick in Stay Cozy, 1.4 g - Estimated Value $8 (buy the 3.5 g version for $20)

This is a really pretty and wearable shade of lipstick. Stay Cozy is a rosy mauve nude shade that pulls pink on me, and that’s exactly how I like it. This has a satin finish so it didn’t dry fully matte, but it still provided plenty of pigment and was long-wearing without being drying.

Here is the lipstick swatched above the highlighter.

Korres Greek Yoghurt Probiotic SuperDose Face Mask, 0.68 oz - Estimated Value $10.71 (buy the 3.3 oz version for $52)

I've used this mask before, and my skin actually loves the stuff- it's why this was my choice item this month! The second ingredient is probiotic-packed yogurt (something Korres is known for), and my dry, sensitive skin soaks up every bit of nourishing hydration this mask has to offer. I am actually on my second full-size jar because I love it so much and use it so frequently, so I figured getting a travel-sized tube to keep handy for after flights would be a good call!

Value – Was This Box Worth It?

The Cost: $13

Value Breakdown:

  • Best Face Forward: $3.80 → $1.16
  • Firma Beauty: $13.99 → $4.28
  • Item Beauty: $6 → $1.83
  • Jazmine Beauty: $8 → $2.45
  • Korres: $10.71 → $3.28

This month everything in my Glam Bag added up to $42.50, which is definitely on the low end of what I have come to expect from this $13 subscription. Alternatively, it breaks down to paying $2.60 per item, not including the actual bag.

Key Takeaways

Even though the value of this IPSY bag wasn't very high, I still think it was a good bag for me- and I would much rather have a bag with a low value that I get a lot of use out of than a bag with a higher value that I don't really reach for. I liked both the lipstick and highlighter samples and thought they were pretty both on their own and worn together, and appreciate that they were both wearable shades. I'll never turn down a new makeup brush, and I love that Korres mask, so I am happy to have a travel-sized tube to add to my travel skincare bag. Even with a lower value than normal, this is still a tough subscription to beat.

I’m liking the Jazmine line. I got a mascara from them 2 mo’s ago. I don’t usually want mascara often and hadn’t tried it before review. I regret not giving it 5 stars all the way. (I have stick straight, skinny lashes), curled w/the Jazmine mascara-wow and it stays full and lifted. I know this doesn’t have anything to do w/this mo. review except the lipstick is the only 2nd Jazmine product I’ve seen. Wish I’d received the lipstick this mo.
