First Impressions

My typical white box arrives beautifully packaged.

Included were helpful cards and a booklet with loads of details about this hair-centric box!

The Products

True Enlightenment Scalp Scrub, 190 g - Retail Value $42

I don't often get to really enjoy hair scrubs when I receive them in my boxes. Why? Well, my husband Will loves a salty hair scrub more than he loves ice cream and video games. That guy can't get enough! I have to remind him they aren't a daily sort of treat and encourage him to space out his usage over time. But, before I know it, the tub is empty. I didn't even show him this one until I got a chance to try it out myself!

The first thing I noticed was the very tingly peppermint scent. Secondly, I noted the pretty reddish-cream color of the formula. That color comes from Hawaiian red salt which is rich in detoxifying clay. I always appreciate a scrub with salt or sugar because those ingredients dissolve in water instead of getting stuck in my hair like some of the weird little beads used by other brands. This stuff was like a wake-up call to my scalp and my nose! That peppermint is really strong and the whole shower felt like chugging a Red Bull. I left my bathroom feeling quite awake and with a happier and calmer scalp.

Detox Hair Mask, 6 oz - Retail Value $30

My second item was a bluish-grey detox mask. I have a drier scalp and I rarely use a ton of hair products, but ever so often I think it is a good idea to use something like this to remove product buildup and give my tresses a fresh start. This formula has vinegar, clay, and charcoal inside and these ingredients work to clean your hair shafts without stripping its natural oils. I did find that while this formula left me feeling squeaky clean and my roots light and volumized, it wasn't nearly as drying as I expected. The scent is also a huge selling point for me personally. The mix of ylang-ylang, orange blossom, resins, and herbs is to die for. I absolutely see this as a once-a-month hair treat!

Hydrating Hair Mask, 6 oz - Retail Value $30

This hydrating mask is a little more my speed. I have coarser hair that is thick and prone to frizz and dryness. While this generally works for my laid-back hair looks (I sleep on it wet for decent waves!) sometimes my head is a dull tangled mess, in desperate need of some pampering. This mask is full of butters and oils that immediately make my hair feel stronger and look shinier. This combo of jojoba, coconut, and monoi oils is really potent! It also smells really lovely, of orange flowers and citrus. I like to use this mask, towel dry my hair, and then twist it into a bun before bed for the prettiest beach waves ever.

I Create Shine, 50 mL - Retail Value $40

My last item is a beautiful golden bottle of hair oil. I absolutely love hair oil, and I use the same one every single day. While this bottle isn't going to take the place of my holy grail oil anytime soon, it is still such a great product and I think if it has the smell of my OUAI oil, it might have edged out on top! Again, I sleep on damp hair. Which means when I wake up in the morning, sometimes those waves are looking super frizzy. A silk pillowcase has helped, but hair oil is my favorite quick fix for flyaways and fuzz. A few drops in my palms and some finger combing and I am suddenly looking like someone who actually tried. This formula is as good for the health of your hair as it is for the appearance, with a blend of oils from avocado, jojoba, macadamia, and coconut.

Verdict

It isn't super often that Beauty Heroes curates a 100% hair-focused box, but when they do, it is always a wow. I really enjoyed all 4 products inside this month and I think that while the formulas are targeted to different hair care needs, anyone could use any of them and love the experience. The value inside is also pretty fantastic. For $58.95 you receive $142 worth of quality hair care. What's not to love?

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

This was the first box of my Beauty Heroes subscription, and I am so utterly disappointed, the box is still on my kitchen island where my husband dropped it off from the front porch.

I HATE haircare in sub boxes and this brand does NOT get good reviews. I have hair that is thick and long and it would be a total pain to use scalp scrubs, my hair is colored and I would never put a strip type masque on it. Add insult to injury, there was not even SHAMPOO or CONDITIONER in the box!!! As I said, the brand gets terrible reviews and Shampoo and Conditioner were the worst ( likely many more sales of those two products).

Paid way too much for way too little, IMO. I will use the pseudo- conditioner and the hair oil, period.

I agree with others on here. So surprised to hear such a strong reaction to Innersense. I’ve only heard and experienced really positive things. This box is big and feels really generous with 4 full-size products -and really luxurious. They say the products are safe for colored hair – wondering why you are having such a strong reaction without even giving the products a try. Clean Haircare is so hard to find, so I’m excited to try these new products. So far, I’ve loved the scalp scrub, A LOT and the 2 masks. I’m still playing with the Shine Drops to find the right amount to use on my hair. The bottle is so luxe – I think this is as luxury of a haircare box as I’ve ever seen. Very pleased this month – I think it’s the opposite – huge value for what I paid.

I have very thick, frizzy, coarse hair and this brand is my holy grail. You should try it!

This brand is actually more so for thick or curly hair. Not sure where you read the reviews but scalp scrubs go on the scalp and these are luxury coming from a thin haired, color treated female i think the products are amazing and one of the best depending upon what you have used or use..

I typically hate hair products in sub boxes but this time I have to disagree. Innersense is an amazing line that a lot of hair stylists rave about. Their items are concentrated and have a learning curve on how to use them, so I bet that’s why some people have issues. Their products typically cost $30 each for regular size and their small sizes are $12.50 (but some products don’t come in a small size), so this looks like an amazing deal to me.

I dare say that the most people who try their products and dislike them either were expecting miracles after 1 use or don’t know how to use them correctly and never bothered to ask an expert. They are professional use products so a tiny bit emulsified in water goes a long, long way. I have had one of their 8 oz shampoos (that I use all the time) for over a year. I actually use 5 of their products and have tried others and enjoy using them because I was shown how to.

I’m not a paid partner of Innersense nor do I work for them, but I do think that since you own the items, you should do some research before trying them. Reach out to the company on their site and let them know what you have. I bet they’d be happy to let you know how to use them. From what I’ve seen on the IG pages of certain very outspoken and brand agnostic hair stylists that I trust, the Innersense folks are very helpful and receptive.

I subbed for a few years to this box and just recently let it lapse. BUT you can email them and tell them to let you know in advance if there will be a haircare specific box and they can pause it for that month. I am also NOT a fan of haircare boxes so it worked out well for me.
