Macy’s Beauty Box is a monthly beauty subscription box that sends you deluxe product samples of skincare, makeup, fragrances, and beauty tools for $15.00/month. Plus, you also get a beauty coupon for use at Macy’s in-store and online.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)

First Impressions

Everything came inside a white Macy's branded box, and when you open the box you find everything has been neatly packaged together with pink tissue paper.

You'll also find a helpful monthly booklet. The booklet goes over each product in detail, and they even sent along with a coupon for your next Macy's beauty purchase.

The Products

Dior Forever Skin Glow Hydrating Foundation Sample

While this was listed as one of the official items in this month's box, I'm not assigning a value to a card with single-use blister samples of foundation on it. I've heard amazing things about the Dior Forever Skin foundation line, but none of these shades matched up well with my coloring.

Kabuki Brush

This box typically comes with an unbranded item- in the past I've received nail wraps and a cup. This Kabuki brush fits the theme of a beauty box a little better than some items sent in the past, and while it's not the most impressive brush I've ever used, it can get the job done and didn't feel scratchy on my cheek.

Bodyography Eye Pencil in Bali Bronze - Retail Value $11

I recently treated myself to one of Bodyography's beautiful pressed pigment eyeshadows, so I felt a little impressed that Macy's sent us a full-size eyeliner from the brand. The shade "Bali Bronze" is more brown and doesn't have the shimmer that one would expect from a shade called bronze (or maybe it's just me), but it's still a really pretty shade. And! It's not black! The formula is made with coconut oil, so it's no wonder this pencil can really glide across my eyelid without tugging or pulling. I'm a fan.

Chella La Vie Neutral Eyeshadow Palette - Retail Value $20

This is a really pretty eyeshadow quad- it's small and would be ideal for travel, and the shimmery shades are super pigmented while the mattes are buttery smooth. I really like the colors together and the overall performance, but I can't shake the feeling that this exact palette came in an Allure Beauty Box or Ipsy Glam Bag years ago, and I just can't bring myself to be excited about it for that reason. If this was your first introduction to this eyeshadow quad, I think you'll be happy- it pairs beautifully with the Bodyography eyeliner and Lancome mascara.

Here is the eyeshadow quad swatched below the eyeliner.

Jean Paul Gaultier Le Beau Eau De Parfum, 1.5 mL - Estimated Value $1.74 (buy the 75 mL version for $87)

You can always count on your Macy's Beauty Box subscription to bring the perfume samples- the first this month is a more traditionally masculine scent with notes of coconut wood, santal wood, tonka bean, and a hint of bergamot. This is an intense cologne- people will smell it on you as you walk into a room. I liked the deep woodsiness of this cologne, but I think it will take a confident personality to wear it.

Jean Paul Gaultier La Belle Eau De Parfum, 1.5 mL - Estimated Value $3.50 (buy the 1 oz version for $70)

La Belle is an amber fragrance paired with notes of citrus, pear, bergamot, and vanilla. It's a sensual perfume- I usually go for perfumes that are a little more fresh, and definitely would need to be feeling confident if I were going to be wearing this. Some people will love this, some will absolutely not want to wear it.

Lancome Monsieur Big Volumizing Mascara, 0.06 oz - Estimated Value $4.91 (buy the 0.33 oz version for $27)

I've used this mascara before and I'm a fan- I actually was wearing the waterproof version of this when my fiancé proposed to me (and it held up really well to the ugly crying!). I'm a little resentful that the packaging on this isn't as pretty as Lancome's packaging for their other mascaras (maybe that's just me), but this mascara absolutely brings the volume. If I apply too many coats too quickly sometimes I have to deal with a little clumping, but overall this is one of the mascaras I would happily use on a daily basis.

Origins GinZing Into The Glow Brightening Serum, 5 mL - Estimated Value $7.67 (buy the 30 mL version for $46)

Origins is one of the first "grown up" brands that I used when I was getting into skincare, and I'm always happy to see their products featured in boxes. This serum is infused with vitamin C and has hyaluronic acid, orange peel oil, and caffeine. I wouldn't call it a safe pick for those who have sensitive skin, but it's definitely going to go to work to make your skin appear more radiant.

The Verdict

I thought this was a fun box from Macy’s Beauty Box. While the single-use foundation sample didn't impress me, I do like that we got everything you need for a cohesive eye look in eyeshadow, eyeliner, and mascara- especially since all of those products performed really well for me. I couldn't get a value for everything in the box, but the values I did calculate adds up to $48.82. Overall, I think this was a decent box for the $15 price tag, and I appreciate that Macy's continues to bring its best effort each month considering it seems to be the only $15 box left (the rest seem to have raised their prices or left altogether).

I notice no reviews or spoilers since August 2022. However I just recieves my December box. I found spoilers on line and though it wouldn’t be great but my box arrived yesterday for the month of December and I am quite happy with the box 7 items plus 2 perfumes and a 10$coupon. I am quite happy with this box. Had a couple repeats but I’m not mad as there were plenty of new items. November which was the shiseido box and I feel they made up for a lackluster box the previous couple months. I will keep my macys sub in 2023 unless something drastic happens.

There hasn’t been a lot of spoilers or reviews this past year it seems. It makes me sad as this was one of the sites I visited daily. I miss the spoilers and while I do read what reviews there are, the lack of comments is something I also miss. I’m glad to see your thoughts Lola! Macy’s is probably my favorite sub now, it’s consistent even when it’s not exciting.

The Chella eyeshadow palette was in the Allure beauty box in April 2021, and I also got it in an Ipsy bag this year.

I am pretty sure we’ve gotten that quad in another box as well. It was actually my first thought when I opened the box.

I don’t think that box value is $48, $15 for sure. But I think they include a $coupon for a purchase as well?

They do include a $5 off $20 or $10 off $40 coupon. I’ve had several issues redeeming them online though.

I got lucky with the foundation samples – the lightest one works well for me. I pretty much never wear foundation and was astonished to find I love the way this one looks! To the point that I might actually buy it! (I got several wears out of the sample.)

My eyeliner, which is quite pretty, was uncovered with the point completely smushed and the cover somehow outside the folded tissue paper parcel containing all the items. It could not have fallen off in transit and wound up outside the tissue paper, it has to have been packed that way.

This was my 1st box. I was totally bummed out by it. Hoping Sept. is better. It shows I’m getting 5 items in Sept. Doesn’t show the face palette on my list. Does anyone know if that means I won’t be getting it? Does everyone get the same products every mo.? The rest of the items for Sept. are a let down for me- I’m not a highlighter person (I’ve had the same product thru other boxes). I cancelled but will be getting Oct. too.

I really like the Macys box, and this one was good for me. The pencil and the liner are beautiful together, and with the mascara you have a great eye look that will work for most people. While I agree the foundation is not really an item, I absolutely like to try the colors/ formula before I buy so mission accomplished to try something new!
