First Impressions

FYI: This bag arrived late and about a week before my September bag. I know some subscribers are experiencing delivery delays and we sadly aren't immune!

As always, my goodies arrived in the pink IPSY bubble mailer and a drawstring bag. The design is a light pink with cartoonish beauty illustrations.

Also worth noting: I didn't make choices this month to see what kind of assortment would arrive!

Here is the info card.

Now, on to the items!

Alo Glow System Radiance Serum, 30 mL - Retail Value $68

This serum has some great stuff inside: hyaluronic acid, aloe, avocado oil, and sesame oil. It also has an ingredient called Amla, a berry loaded with vitamin C and antioxidants. I really liked the texture of this formula. It was juicy and squishy and left my skin cooled and soft as it easily absorbed without leaving behind any weird film or residue. It is a nice addition to any routine and will help your skin stay smooth and radiant while feeling great! Use this one AM or PM!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz Ultra-Slim Precision Brow Pencil in 'Taupe', 0.085 g - Retail Value $23

I always feel bad reviewing brow products because I am lazy and I only use the easiest type: tinted brow gel. Pencils? Well, those require work and skill. But when they are used well my brows look incredible. I decided this pencil was worth the effort because the super thin tip allows me to create such realistic hair strokes while the spoolie end helps me feather and sculpt my brows into bushy perfection. This shade was great for my ashy hair. The only real downside here is the disappointingly small amount of actual product inside. Details like this make repurchases difficult for me to justify.

True & Lucious Flowerdose Lip & Eye Serum, 14 mL - Retail Value $34

I am going to try and be kind here. Even though my feelings about this product are not glowing. First, this is an eye and lip serum which seems weird, except both of these areas of skin are sensitive and extra prone to fine lines and wrinkles. So a 2-in-1 plumper is genius, right? Not for me. First, on my lips this stuff tasted so terrible that I don't think I would care how well it smoothed and plumped them. And I am used to some spicy lip glosses! And under my eyes? Well, do you enjoy burning eyes? Me neither. I am sure if you can handle the taste and if your eyes aren't sensitive this might have been a win for you. But for me? Big nope.

Shaina B Miami Cream Blush in Bellini, 5 g  - Retail Value $18

Is this blush or concealer? I was so confused when I opened this little pink compact. I have super pale skin and I generally love peach blushes. But for me this isn't peach at all. It looks like a skin-toned concealer. And on my face it just made me look like someone who really didn't understand bronzer. The formula was pigmented and creamy, which is a plus for sure. But the shade is a mystery to me.

ITEM Beauty By Addison Rae Overdew Clean Intensive Cream Moisturizer with Argan Oil, 50 mL - Retail Value $20

I so want to love this stuff. It is so affordable and has a ton of cica extract (my fave!). But it smells really weird. Did I get a bad tube? It has a scent that is a hint of lime with a side of something that was wet for too long. The scent doesn't stick around for long and that is good because I think this cream feels great on my dry skin. It has some dryness heavy-hitters like cicapair, argan oil, and olive, plus a nice antioxidant boost for long-term anti-aging benefits. And for $20? It is a great price point. And, sure, a lot of us dislike celebrity lines (are TikTokers celebrities?) but ITEM Beauty has had some bright spots for me personally, like this cream and their lip oil.

Verdict

This month's IPSY Glam Bag Plus has a value of $163, and was filled with 5 items that I found pretty polarizing. The winners included the cream, brow pencil, and serum. The items I could live without are the lip+eye serum and that blush shade that I am still really confused about. I don't think I would consider this curation to be one of my favorites from IPSY, but I have my fingers crossed for next month.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

That can’t be a blush shade in my mind. It’s like they forgot to put the pigment in it to make a shade.

They gave you the bag from Jun 2021. The Aug 2022 bag was green with palm leaves.
