First Impressions

Boxycharm always arrives with a cute card detailing all of the products inside and listed retail values.

Now, on to the items!

NATASHA DENONA Zendo Eyeshadow Palette – Retail Value $69

I was SO excited to open this palette. We have seen Natasha Denona in this subscription before, but it is kind of rare and usually a mini palette. But this is a biggie! And can you think of a more perfect fall color story? Warm browns, firey reds, moody greens, and some nudes come together to create an autumnal vibe that is a total dream. And in typical ND fashion, the formulas are amazing. Shadows from this brand always feel so finely milled and incredibly smooth and the mix of mattes, shimmers, and unexpected glitters make this a palette I can't wait to use.

LAWLESS The One & Done Volumizing Mascara, 12 mL – Retail Value $25

Of course, with an incredible palette, you need an amazing mascara too. And I really liked this one from LAWLESS. It has a brush that felt a little awkward when I first used it because the silicone bristles feel almost too widely spaced apart. But they grab lashes and coat them in a true black pigment perfectly. This is more of a length+definition sort of formula on my lashes, but you could make a second pass for more volume. Even better? It is vegan and cruelty-free.

OLEHENRIKSEN C-Rush Vitamin C Gel Moisturizer, 35 mL – Retail Value $34

When I think of gel moisturizers, I usually think they are going to be lightweight and underwhelming for drier skin like mine. But, wow, this stuff isn't playing around. Sure, it feels lightweight on my fingertips, but when applied to my face, the quality ingredients inside really start to show off and the texture is cooling and rich without being heavy. It also is one of those products that is just kind of fun to use because it smells great and the bright orange tub just makes you smile when you open it. In addition to moisturizing panthenol, hyaluronic acid, and collagen, this formula boasts three different types of vitamin C that are very stable and help give your skin a brighter and smoother finish over time.

REN Clean Skincare Evercalm Redness Relief Serum, 30 mL – Retail Value $60

Was this box custom-built just for me? I am starting to think so! In addition to being pretty dry, I also have skin that is prone to redness. And it isn't always that cute youthful, sun-kissed sort of red. It is that flushed for no reason, splotchy sort of red! REN is a great brand for sensitive or reactive skin, and this serum is designed to help reduce redness while comforting and nourishing your skin with the help of soothing white mushroom extract. It has a milky texture that goes a long way and absorbs nicely. I did not experience any pilling when I layered it with my normal skincare. I also had success using this as a treatment for smaller red areas on my face with leftover redness from long-gone breakouts.

MAKE BEAUTY Serum Balm in 'Pink Cerise', 4.3 g – Retail Value $26

Annnnd this box just keeps getting better. I love effortless lip products that just add a hint of color while making my lips feel soft and plump! This formula has a cheery sheer cherry pink shade and contains ingredients like hyaluronic acid, avocado oil, and botanical antioxidants. I am a big fan of the chubby tube and oversized applicator. Application is a breeze and the serum balm feels thicker that expected but incredible on. I want this in every color.

BEAUTYBIO Bright Eyes Collagen-Infused Brightening Colloidal Silver Eye Masks, 8 pairs – Retail Value $28

I have had a pretty crazy life lately. And I spend a lot of time in my car driving to and from my family home. I generally spend about 22 hours a month driving this route and since I drive straight through with minimal stops, that means I am in my car from morning until night. And (I swear I am not trying to sound vain here) it is showing on my face. I reapply sunscreen religiously though the trip but I always just look so tired when I finally arrive. Eye gels like this are my secret weapon for a roadtrip! Once it gets dark outside I apply a pair of these babies and it feels immediately pampering. I also look a little less haggard when I crawl out of my car too, which is a big bonus. This set of 8 will last me 4 trips!

QVEEN Partners in Crime Lip Liner Duo – Retail Value $18 ($9 each)

I really wish I could pull off the brown liners that are so trendy right now, but I haven't found a way to make it work for me yet. But, the brighter red shade in this duo has my name all over it! It works great as a traditional liner, but I prefer it all over my lips. The gel formula is soft and flexible but long-lasting. And the brown shade can be gifted to a friend.

DOMINIQUE COSMETICS Silk Tone Cream Blush in 'Soft Pink', 5 g – Retail Value $22

Finally, my last item is a cream blush that I actually have received already, but I loved it so much that I don't mind having a backup. The main draw of this formula is that it can be used on cheeks and lips, and this medium pink suits me beautifully. The pink pigment is buildable and blendable, meaning that perfect natural flush is beyond easy. I also give this stuff bonus points for some seriously great packaging.

Verdict

The total retail value of this BoxyLuxe was around $282, which is a fantastic value for a $60 box. And wow, did this one feel LUXE. Starting off with that insane ND palette and finishing with one of my favorite cream blushes, I can't say there was a single item in here that I didn't really enjoy! This box was well-rounded and included everything from makeup (eyes, lips, and cheeks!) to skincare (a cream, serum, and eye gels). I am so impressed with this delivery and have my fingers crossed that every upcoming BoxyLuxe can be this incredible.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

Waiting to see all the comments of other people being heartbroken and/or mad over this box. I’ve seen it all over Reddit where people are receiving full Luxe boxes from 2020 and 2021 instead of this box. Some are successful in getting refunds. One person was sent a full 2020 Luxe box and their remedy was to get a new replacement box, that one being from 2021. Highly suggest Reddit if you need to contact Boxy because you were promised the Zendo palette and didn’t receive it.
On a different note, I had Boxy premium from the first box all the way up until July I believe when a payment didn’t go through. I had kept the box for a long time because of the box you have to purchase with no choices upon resigning up. Reddit has truly shown me that I probably just need to stay on the sidelines. Boxy appears to be a dumpster fire at this point. I blame Ipsy for most of this. I have major FOMO and premium was my last beauty box. But if I’m completely honest with myself, I have Boxycharm boxes all over the place with products inside never used or just swatched once and put back into their boxes. It was nice while it lasted.

Oh forgot to add I’ve told Boxycharm about this through email at support@boxycharm and I’ve heard a few excuses or been completely ignored. One person said there were complications and now they are working overtime to get the boxes out.

Well it’s September 27 and my Boxyluxe still hasn’t shipped and there’s no tracking info! Ridiculous! All the decent products will be gone by the time they put my box together! I’ve been reading the reviews on their website under the specific boxes (not the products) you know base, premium and luxe and tons of people are in the same boat as me and they’re highly upset. Apparently the ND Zendo and more items are sold out and people are getting products from past boxes (those who have actually received their box!!) I already have that ND Cupid face palette I got it when we got the matching Cupid eyeshadow palette a couple months ago and that’s another complaint I read is that people are getting products they already have been sent before! I’m so done!! At this point just give everyone a refund omg! In just a few days we will be charged for October boxes!! When we haven’t even received September’s boxes!!?? Something is wrong with that picture.

Qveen Herby! I was wondering when (or if) her cosmetics line would make it into the mainstream. I guess girl’s been hustling! 😊

Wow! This is a great box. I was so worried when Ipsy bought boxycharm it would never be the same. This feels like, “I’m back baby!”

I’m an esthetician as well, and that C-Rush moisturizer is one of my faves. Sooooo cooling and hydrating!

Megan, we were box twins- and I agree, my mind was blown as well. My skin has been loving the Ren serum, I already knew I loved the beauty bio eye gels so I was stoked to see them in the box, and I can’t wait to play with the ND palette. My favorite discovery is the color balm from MAKE. I’ve been seeing the brand all over Instagram but this was my first time trying them, and holy goodness do I love the formula- I want every formula too.
