As I have confessed previously, I am a candle addict. Not only do I enjoy the look of candles in my everyday decor, but they truly have been an important component in my battle with anxiety. Honestly, I find nothing more relaxing and rejuvenating than a hot bath, complete with lavender Epsom salts topped off with the lights dimmed and a candle burning. Because of my candle obsession, I have tried hundreds of brands, but have decidedly made the switch to natural, toxin-free versions such as the ones Vellabox offers. Though a little pricier than most, I find the quality of these candles second to none and have yet to meet a fragrance I didn't like. Along with the candle, you also receive a surprise gift, a Spotify playlist, and a card with an inspirational quote to make this box an entire experience.

This month's candle maker is MOCO Candles. Created in 2018, Morgan Conner started making handcrafted goods using her background in art and design. Wanting to create home fragrances that pose no threat to the environment, without sacrificing scent, her candles are zero-waste and carbon neutral, all while being beautiful and wonderfully fragranced. This particular jar candle has a simplistic design but is understatedly beautiful and smells absolutely fantastic. An aroma of grapefruit, lime, and tequila (my fave), this candle has a substantial scent throw that lights up a room with its bright and citrusy arousal without being overpowering. Perfect for summer, this candle is an absolute must-have for those humid summer nights that you never want to end.
I love the fact that this box features a different candle maker each month. Not only do we receive a background story on each candle maker, but we also received a coupon code, and a QR code for easy re-purchase.

I love baking and have just recently gotten on the silicone baking pan train. Using silicone cake forms I received from "The Adventure Challenge Box", I recently took home a blue ribbon, and the "Bea Kehr" award at our local county fair with my not really famous, but very delicious carrot cake recipe! Made from 100% food-grade and BPA-free silicone, these silicone muffin cups are not only dishwasher and freezer safe, but also free of toxic chemicals and cheaper to use in the long run! Coming in a variety of colors, these little liners are not only adorable, but easy to store, and hold their shape, unlike paper liners. While I tend to make more than 6 muffins at a time, these will definitely come in handy for my mammoth blueberry muffin recipe that makes only 6. I can't wait to try them. What a great secret item to round out the August box!
Was This Box Worth It?
The Cost: $38
I have to say, this month of Vellabox was absolutely amazing. Not only did I absolutely adore the scent of this month's Paloma candle, but I loved the inclusion of the silicone baking cups, as it is something that I have wanted to try yet haven't yet ordered. I know that small-batch candles are a lot more expensive than big box brands, but I can tell you from experience that with these candles they not only last longer, but they will keep your furnace filter cleaner, but leave less soot on your walls and appliances than any other candle. This month's curation was absolutely fantastic, and I can't wait to see what they have in store for next month.
