Can you believe it's almost September? I feel like just a few weeks ago I was trying to figure out where to celebrate St. Patrick's Day and now it's time for pumpkin beer and pumpkin lattes. I must admit, pumpkin beer is a serious weakness of mine and the stronger it is, the more I regret it the next morning.

In an ode to the end of summer, I rented a bunch of really beachy earrings for a trip to Dewey Beach, DE and Ocean City, MD. Keep reading to find out all about them.

Rocksbox is a jewelry styling and rental service. Members pay a flat rate every month to get unlimited access to the Rocksbox collection and the option to buy whatever they love at a discounted price. Each month, Rocksbox will curate sets of three pieces to send your way, including at least one piece from your ever-growing wishlist. Members can keep and wear the three pieces they receive for as long as they want, or they can switch out sets whenever they'd like. Rocksbox also offers a monthly credit so you can buy the pieces for less.

This is a review of the monthly plan for $21, which includes shipping to the US only.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Just like other subscription boxes, when I signed up for Rocksbox I had to set up a style profile that asked me questions like my metal preference, and which necklace, earring, bracelet, and ring styles I liked the most.

Let's check out this month's delivery!

What I Received

Kendra Scott Ember Statement Earrings - Retail Value $198

About this item: These beautiful earrings really make a statement! Crafted in 18k gold over brass, these dangle earrings feature linear strands of colorful beads. Measuring at 3.5 inches long, they're a bit on the heavier side and are finished with a high-polish shine.

Condition: Excellent.

Review: I'm not Kendra Scott's biggest fan, but these earrings are stunning. If they were a lot cheaper, I would've made a purchase using my monthly credit, but they don't even offer a Rocksbox discount. Also, they are quite heavy.

COCOACENTRIC Jumbo Micha Hoop - Retail Price $54, Member Price $51

About this item: Another COCOACENTRIC piece! Inspired by nature, these large marbled square statement hoops are a reminder of the natural beauty all around us. The square angular shape is a unique hoop style with a polished and refined gold closure. They're made of out resin, on the heavier side and measure at 2.5" long.

Condition: Excellent.

Review: I really like this pair and think they're perfect for summer, but they won't hang straight. I was constantly flipping them around because they'd twist and do weird things. Plus, they're a bit heavy.

Soko Nyundo Hoops - Retail Value $88, Member Price $84

About this item: Featuring a layered, hammered gold detail, these shiny, 24k gold-plated hoops are ultra-versatile and beautiful! With a post closure, these earrings measure at an adjustable 2.2" in diameter and while they're smaller than the other two pairs, they're just as heavy.

Condition: Excellent.

Review: I wore the gold hoops at least a dozen times. They're super versatile, but also on the heavier side. Again, I'd make a purchase if there was a better discount.

The Verdict

So, I skipped necklaces and rings because I feel like most of them fit a little oddly and I never end up wearing them aside from the one necklace in June. I'll try something new for September and get into the fall spirit with something fun and autumn-y.

Value Breakdown: Rocksbox membership costs $21 per month. At retail, the three pieces would cost me $340. With my Rocksbox discounts and the member pricing including the buy-all-three-items $10 discount and the $21 of Shine Credit (the membership fee for the month, which goes towards your purchases),that price drops to $297.

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Every box is different and packed based on the customer's tastes and what's available at the time. You can, however, help guide the Rocksbox stylists and add your favorite pieces to your wishlist!

If shopping were an Olympic sport, I’d be a gold medalist. And while my bank account often feels the crunch, I just can’t stop buying secondhand clothing and accessories, under-the-radar designer goods, stuffed animal unicorns (I have about 75), and toys for my pet bunny rabbit. After 20 years of city slicking in NYC and DC, I now have a car and love to tour the Virginia countryside looking for vintage shops, undiscovered wineries and breweries, historic sites, and Thai restaurants—I’m addicted to Thai food. I never leave home without a spare phone charger because I love horror movies and therefore have an irrational fear of being stranded somewhere with a dead battery.
