First Impressions

This is the perfect box if you’re looking for a fun activity that isn’t media-based. It’s definitely something that can help keep your mind sharp. You get to jump into an unsolved case and become your own favorite armchair detective.

I love how sleek and minimalistic the black envelope is, complete with the gold logo of the Quinn Detective Agency and featuring a mysterious fingerprint.

Notecard

Every Be The Detective box comes with a product card that has instructions on one side, a list of the box’s contents on the other, and a QR code that will allow you to access any information if something was mistakenly left out of your box.

What's Inside "The Dual" Be The Detective Mystery Box?

Letter

Letter for Be The Detective The Dual Part Two

Once you open the confidential black envelope, you’re greeted by an official letter from none other than private detective Phineas Quinn, updating you on the evidence he’s discovered since Box One and explaining what needs to be figured out in Box Two to move the case forward.

Death Investigation Report

Death Investigation for Be The Detective The Dual Part Two

This month’s box includes an official death investigation report, detailing the discovery of victim Claire Anne Fontaine’s body, as well as four transcripts of police interviews between the detective and a person of interest in the case. Are they a witness or the perpetrator? You’ll have to keep reading to discover if they had any potentially sinister motives.

Patient Application Form

There is also a patient application form and photograph of a person of interest that may or may not include incriminating evidence against said individual.

Clues

Inside the envelope are other clues that may be the evidence needed to break the case wide open, such as handwritten letters, receipts, text messages, photographs, news articles, and maps, all to help you on your journey to unravel the web of lies behind this heinous crime.

So, grab your pot of bad coffee, your best puzzle-solving friend, and channel your favorite private investigator, hardened detective, or amateur sleuth, and get to work.

My Verdict

I thought this was a great Be The Detective Mystery Box! One of the goals of this box was determining Claire's time of death. And with this task came more challenges... In order to discover Claire's time of death, I needed to find key pieces of evidence and then combine those pieces of evidence with some information that Phineas Quinn compiled, which I found via the website in his letter. Another thing that upped the ante of this box was that in order to complete the goal, you had to revisit episode one, take your knowledge of that evidence and analyze it along with the evidence in this month's box. It was definitely a bit more challenging than episode one alone. But for anyone who thinks this would be an impossible task, don't worry; any time I got stuck or needed to be pointed in the right direction, I was able to access a password-protected file online that had some hints to keep me on the right track. I have to say, this is one of my favorite adult beverage night activities. My friends and I always have a blast challenging our minds while a glass or two of wine in.

Love mystery/crime solving games. Great review and wish more games included props like hunt a killer but still love the thought that goes into crafty each mystery and puzzle.

Why is it called “the dual”? Dual what? Dual is an adjective. Where’s the noun?
