Let us know what's living on your wish list in the comments - each month, we'll select, buy, and review one product to see if it lives up to the hype!

Welcome to another round of Add to Cart! Most of you already know that I absolutely adore cream and liquid blush formulas. So I was pretty delighted when I saw that YSL released a trio of cheek+lip colors in a balm formula. I am pretty much a makeup minimalist and the thought of combining a cheek and lip product in my small purse makeup pouch enticed me. Does this new kid on the block really provide both a beautiful and wearable lip and cheek flush? Read on!

The Product We Chose: Yves Saint Laurent Nu Lip & Cheek Balmy Tint in 'Nu Flush', 15 mL - $26

My Subscription Addiction paid for this product. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

As is typical for me, I picked the brightest shade available. There are three colors to choose from: Nu Flush (a bright red cherry), Nu Chills (a pretty plum), and Nu Pinch (a natural peach). All three are very pretty and would make great cheek and lip colors.

The Ingredients

Here is a closer look at the ingredient list:

Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Ppg-5 Pentaerythrityl Ether, Peg-5 Pentaerythrityl Ether, Butyrospermum Parkii Butter / Shea Butter, Polybutene, Cera Alba / Beeswax / Cire Dabeille, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, Silica Silylate, Glycine Soja Sterols / Soybean Sterols, Octyldodecanol, Ci 77891 / Titanium Dioxide, Ci 77492 / Iron Oxides, Ci 77491 / Iron Oxides, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-Di-T-Butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, Alumina, Ci 15985 / Yellow 6 Lake, Citrus Aurantium Amara Flower Oil / Bitter Orange Flower Oil, Vanilla Planifolia Fruit Extract, Linalool, Ci 15850 / Red 7, Tribehenin, Aluminum Hydroxide, Limonene, Sorbitan Isostearate, Silica, Farnesol, Punica Granatum Fruit Extract, Geraniol, Trihydroxystearin, Lactic Acid, Sodium Hyaluronate, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1, Citric Acid, Glucomannan.

The Key Players and What They Do

Shea Butter: Soothing moisturizer that is also rich in antioxidants.

Orange Blossom: Smells great and softens!

Hyaluronic Acid: Moisture bomb! Use this for hydration and firmness.

Beeswax: Locks in hydration and improves texture.

My Takeaway

What Does It Smell Like?

You can smell that orange blossom for sure! It is a very pretty and slightly floral scent that I loved immediately. It works well as a scent that is going to be near your lips, which is an important factor if you have ever applied something that you had to sniff all day and just wasn't "right" for your lips. This smells clean, pretty, and special.

What Does It Feel Like?

I think the biggest difference between this product and other liquids/creams out there (my mind goes to Glossier's Cloud Paint and Rare Beauty's liquid blush) is that this YSL formula is indeed a true balm. It has a thicker viscosity that makes it a little harder to squeeze from the tube and it holds together to coat the lips really well. Does something like that translate to cheeks too, though? Yeah, it does, incredibly well! My general routine is this: SPF, brow product, sheer lip color, and blush. I will add or subtract as needed for the day. Because my face is minimal and doesn't have any sort of powder, this texture works well for me. If you tend to wear a lot of foundation or finish that might be smudged by a thicker and waxier layer like this, I might skip this.

How Did It Look On?

Here is a peek at the texture straight out of the tube:

As you can see, there is a lot of pigment. So beware! It is buildable and blends really well though, so I just used the extra on my lips.

Should You Buy Yves Saint Laurent Nu Lip & Cheek Balmy Tint?

I really liked this product and I didn't think the price was bad for the size of the tube. I have found myself wanting to buy the two other colors available too! If you like multipurpose makeup, brands like Glossier, or just want the perfect 2-in-1 purse product, I can't imagine you being disappointed with this new YSL offering.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.
