First Impressions

I’m really excited to see what kind of product curation was included with the May box, so let’s get to it!

What's Inside The Box

The box arrives with a booklet of information that lists the products and highlights some of the brands found within for this month's "Connect" theme.

BOMBAY & CEDAR Bug Off and Immune Boost Essential Oil Roll-Ons, 10 ml x2 - Listed Retail Value $33.00

A pair of these essential oil roll-ons are a main staple of every monthly Bombay & Cedar Lifestyle Box. This month included ‘Bug Off’ and ‘Immune Boost’ roll-ons. Now, I’m not too into essential oils, but with this rollerball applicator, I’m much more apt to give them a try if I have a particular ailment that could possibly be helped. The names of this duo are self-explanatory, and I’m pretty excited to give the ‘Bug Off’ roll-on a try the next time I’m out in nature. Simply apply to pulse points and breathe in. I usually prefer to apply these roll-ons to my wrists. I’m sensitive to scents, so the furthest away they stay from my nostrils, the better. Do I feel confident that these essential oils have the power to work miracles? Not exactly, but I do enjoy a good rollerball applicator every now and then.

TECH CANDY Bed Fellow Valet - Retail Value $32.99

A product from Tech Candy, how exciting! This Bed Fellow Valet is awesome, seriously. You can tuck this little thing right inside your mattress or bed frame, and it hangs over perfectly, allowing you to stow your essentials within easy reach. There is a large pocket, along with two smaller interior pockets for storing smaller items like glasses or pretty much anything you would like to find quickly. This bedside storage works with all beds and even some couches, which is awesome. Now, no more forgetting to charge my phone before bed. They really have thought of everything with this bedside storage. I love that I can run my charging cord through the handy slot built into the bottom of the item. It’s a high quality piece too, with sturdy stitching. I feel like this will last me for a long while.

TECH CANDY Be Present Screen Blockers, 4 pc - Retail Value $13.99

Okay, I’m not gonna lie… But until I looked it up online, I wasn’t quite sure what these screen blockers were supposed to do. Turns out they are made to encourage the elimination of ‘phubbing.’ Don’t worry; I didn’t know what it meant either, but apparently phubbing means to snub someone in favor of a mobile phone. These screen blockers are supposed to provide a tactile reminder to keep your phone down and your head up and be present in the moment. Too much time is spent on our phones, even during events that matter most. These screen blockers cling nicely to my phone screen without leaving any stickiness, residue, or anything behind. I like how I can move them around to block certain notifications from social media while ensuring I don’t miss any important phone calls. I also appreciate that this four-pack came in a cute little tin so it’s easy to keep them all together and never misplace them despite their small form.

TOILET TAPES Scented Toilet Block in Lovely Lavender, 18 g - Retail Value $3.07

It’s a real shame that I can’t stand the scent of lavender because this Toilet Block from Toilet Tapes is an amazingly powerful freshener. It also acts as a rim cleaner. This product has a very strong scent that’s long-lasting and works well for the bathroom, freshening the air without stifling you in a cloud of chemical smelling fragrance. In fact, this toilet tape is sustainable, eco-friendly, and biodegradable. It’s very easy to install, and you install and remove without getting your hands dirty, which is definitely a major plus for me. Despite the scent, I love this product, and I’m happy to have it.

SKINNY POP Popcorn in Original, 18 g - Estimated Retail Value $1.38

Ooooh, a snack! I’ve had Skinny Pop popcorn before, and I’m excited to see that it was selected as this month’s snack choice. I consider myself to be a pretty healthy eater, and this is definitely one of the better true ‘diet’ popcorn brands, in my opinion. The flavor is slightly blander than your usual popcorn, especially the ‘Original’ flavor, but it’s honestly still pretty tasty. Just a single bag of these is a good enough snack to hold myself over in between meetings until I can take the time to have a proper meal. Definitely interested to try all the flavors sometime in the future.

KERI SMITH Everything Is Connected: Reimagining the World One Postcard at a Time Cards, 51 pages - Retail Value $14.00

This book is filled with postcards that you can send to friends around the world. Now, I don’t know about you, but I haven’t sent a physical letter or postcard since… Hm. Probably middle school. These postcards are incredibly unique, but they do feel a little young to me. Definitely more of a teen vibe than something I would ever choose to send to friends of mine. Although they might not be my style, if you’re someone with a bit more whimsy than myself, you may enjoy these (especially if sending postcards is your thing).

MARGOT ELENA Lollia Eau de Parfum Little Luxe Set, 15 ml - Retail Value $46.00

What a beautiful perfume set! Although I’m not a fan of fragrances, in general, this is the cutest little gift set for someone who is, and it’s perfect for me because I do enjoy a good re-gift when something doesn’t suit me perfectly but is still luxurious and elegant. This set includes four different scents: In Love, This Moment, Wish, and Relax. Each of these scents are pretty soft and gentle, not too overpowering like some other fragrances I’ve had the displeasure of getting a whiff of. That said, they do linger and seem to work nicely for all-day wear, so if you enjoy that kind of thing, this set could be for you.

Verdict

I thought this was a really good month for the Bombay & Cedar Lifestyle Box! The highlights for me were the two products from Tech Candy. I can always use extra bedside storage, and I love those screen blockers because they remind me to be present. Seeing Skinny Pop included in this box was an overall healthy, pleasant (and yummy) treat that I appreciated. The toilet block from Toilet Tapes, despite its overpowering scent, is a great product, and I was happy to try it out. Definitely love the sustainability behind it. Of course, we received Bombay & Cedar’s signature essential oil roll-ons for bug relief and immune support, and I’m interested to see how they perform. Keri Smith’s postcard book is super unique and has whimsical vibes to it, and lastly, Margot Elena’s Lollia perfume set, which is adorable and such a luxurious item to pass along to a friend if you’re not a fan of fragrances; if you are, lucky you because this set is simply beautiful. Overall, I thought this was a really nice box! The product curation varied between functional and unique luxury, and the value was definitely there.
