IPSY is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. For $13 per month, you get five full-size or deluxe-sized products, plus a cute makeup bag.

This is one of our top recommendations if you are looking for a subscription box - the value and sample sizes are amazing. (FYI – Ipsy sends out many different variations of their bag each month – so my review is just one of the bag variations you might receive!)

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes).

First Impressions

Your IPSY Glam bag will come in their standard pale pink bubble wrap mailer. When you open it up, you can always expect to find a makeup bag storing your new beauty products and an info sheet with additional details.

Every month you receive a makeup bag in addition to your five products. This month's fun yellow mesh bag with a fruit slice for a zipper pull! Subscribers could have received one of three different colors.

The Breakdown – What’s Inside My June 2022 Ipsy Bag

Bad Habit Wake Things Up Matcha & Mint Morning Cleanser, 15 mL - Estimated Value $4 (buy the 30 mL version for $8)

Peppermint is an agreement that can be a trigger for many with sensitive skin, but I just can’t resist the zesty cooling feeling it provides in this cleanser. I haven’t noticed any issues with skin sensitivity in trying this product out (maybe because it gets rinsed away?), and I found this to be a cleanser that left my skin feeling very balanced. It really is a great cleanser in the mornings for when you’re waking up, but I also liked using it when I needed a boost after a long day at work- I would use a cleansing balm to break down sunscreen and makeup first, and then follow up with this to leave my face feeling refreshed.

Pink Lipps Cosmetics 5-Star Concealer in Independent like Aries, 5 mL - Estimated Value $7.99 (buy the 10 mL version for $15.99)

I think the astrology-themed shade names for this concealer are a lot of fun, though I’m a little miffed that I am the shade Aries (the lightest shade) and not Virgo, Taurus, or Pisces (my sun, moon, rising). My own idiosyncrasy aside, this concealer performed well for me- especially considering the price point. Right out of the tube this looks crazy pale, so of course, it ended up blending really well into my skin. I used this under my eyes to try and hide the bad night's sleep I got, and I really liked that it stayed in place all day while still looking natural.

Tarte Maneater™ Voluptuous Mascara, 2 mL - Estimated Value $5.33 (buy the 9 mL version for $24)

Tarte really knows their way around a mascara formula, so even if I don’t love a formula, I’ve never really disliked any tarte mascara I’ve tried. Personally, I think Maneater is one of the better ones because it focuses on volume and length. It does give a small boost of curl at the base of my lashes, and then it individually coats each lash with zero clumping to help my eyes look wide-awake. I can wear this all day, and even when work is stressful and I rub my face without thinking about it, this mascara still doesn't smudge or smear.

Here I am wearing the concealer blended in under my eyes and the mascara.

Tatcha Indigo Overnight Repair Serum-in-Cream, 10 mL - Retail Value $22

I already own the full-size jar of Tatcha's Indigo overnight repair cream, so when I saw this available as a choice item this month I knew I had to select it. I love this stuff! It's fragrance-free and oh-so-calming to my skin no matter what I'm dealing with. It helps to strengthen your skin's moisture barrier over time while also balancing your skin's microbiome, and it leaves my face feeling cushiony soft without being too heavy. My sensitive skin really soaks it up, which is bad news for my wallet.

KVoss NYC Lip Potion, 10 g - Estimated Value $18.67 (buy the 15 g version for $28)

Ipsy described this as “an overnight face mask but for your lips” and I think that’s pretty spot on. This has a really thick texture reminiscent of Vaseline that created a protective barrier on my lips when I applied it, but it also did make a difference in dryness and some chaps on my lips that I was dealing with. I only needed a little bit, which means this tube (coming in at 2/3’s the size of the full-size version) should last me quite a while.

Value – Was This Box Worth It?

The Cost: $13

Value Breakdown:

  • Bad Habit: $4 → $0.89
  • Pinklipps: $7.99 → $1.79
  • Tarte: $5.33 → $1.19
  • Tatcha: $22 → $4.93
  • KVoss: $18.67 → $4.18

This month everything in my Glam Bag added up to $57.99, which is pretty awesome for a $13 subscription box. Alternatively, it breaks down to paying $2.60 per item, not including the actual bag.

Key Takeaways

This month's IPSY bag was a great one! All of the products worked well for me, and I am stoked to now have a mini travel-sized version of the Tatcha cream I already use and love. The value this month felt a little higher than what I usually see, too, which I appreciate considering the cost of the bag. IPSY is one of the most affordable subscription boxes out there, and I love being able to look forward to getting my new bag every month (and being able to select one item in each month's bag, too).

If you’re looking for a less pricey but still effective overnight cream than the Tatcha, I highly recommend Laneige’s Cica Sleeping Mask!

Just wondering if anyone else’s pinklipp concealer has very little product in it? I had to squeeze down to the neck. It says 5ml but seems more like 0.5ml.

I’m getting the same exact products. If my bag ever arrives. I am excited to try the lip potion.

Ok so I’m not the only one still waiting… This makes me feel better since it’s been in my “area” since the 12th but seen since including$30 of add ons… Hopefully they arrive soon

I love the Tatcha Indigo. It’s a really nice cream.

I received the same products, but my bag was purple. Nice review, as always! 🙂

These are the exact five products they sent me, and I agree with your assessments.

Why is the Tatcha cream called indigo? It’s yellow, not indigo.

The term is “price” here, not “price point.” The concealer is great coverage, and I received the same shade. But I’m pale AND Aries, so it works. 🙂

Julia, If you read the ingredient list on the product, it clearly states that it is made with indigo extract. For someone who always likes to correct everyone else’s writing, it seems that reading should come easily for you.

I was surprised it was yellow. I have the Tatcha indigo handcream and it’s indigo tinted.

One of the ingredients is Japanese Indigo Extract. From Tatcha’s website: Japanese Indigo Extract: Indigo soothes irritated skin with tryptanthrin and indirubin, plant compounds proven to demonstrate skin-calming properties. Throughout history, indigo has been used as a holistic aide for various ailments, including the common cold. Indigo-dyed cloth has even been used for sterilization, to help stop bleeding, repel insects, and regulate the body in severe temperature changes.
