This is a brand new, never-before-seen Cocotique box – the Makeup Lovers Box, which is a quarterly subscription. I’m excited that they’re branching out from not only hair and skin products for WOC but now also extending into makeup, and I’m interested to see what products they have chosen to include.
The back of the Cocotique Makeup Lovers Box info card describes all the products included in this month’s box. It also provides information on where to purchase the products online and exclusive discount codes where available.
Now, on to the items!
BASIC BEAUTY Blush in Wine Time, 2.5 g - Retail Value $18
This blush is really pretty! As the name ‘Wine Time’ suggests, this shade resembles what I would call maroon. The formula is lightweight, with a super smooth, velvety texture that applies easily and blends together well. It’s easy to build a more intense look with this blush. I’m also happy with the size of this product; since I tend to apply a light dusting of blush whenever I’m wearing makeup, this will last me quite some time. It’s also the perfect size for travel and easy to toss into an overnight bag. This blush creates a slightly more dramatic looking flush, which I enjoy, and it works well with my skin tone too. The product has long-staying power as well. It doesn’t just wipe off with ease, which is great for me because I have skin that can be on the oily side, and I sometimes have trouble finding a good blush that lasts me longer than 20 minutes.

BASIC BEAUTY Baesic Lip Kit, 1.2 g (Gel Liner) and 3.2 g (Liquid Lip) - Retail Value $25
My lips are a bit shapeless, I feel… Kind of like two lazy slugs, just sitting there. I’ve always wanted the ‘cupid’s bow’ that some people are lucky enough to have. Now, I know that there are products out there specifically for the purpose of lining your lips; hence, the lip liner that comes with this Baesic Lip Kit. I don’t use it often, and I’ve never had much luck or skill when using a product such as this, but I’ve been practicing. This gel liner is wonderful, gliding on smoothly and seamlessly. The point at the top of the liner was very pointed and precise, which made it pleasant to use. I love how this doesn’t drag across the delicate skin of your lips. There was a liquid lipstick also included, and the texture of this product is just as creamy and luxurious as the liner. It goes on so smoothly and feels comfortable while wearing. This lip duo has a darker, sultry shade to it, and while it’s definitely not going to be an everyday look for me, this is perfect for date night.

BASIC BEAUTY Lip Gloss in Mixer, 3.2 g - Retail Value $15
I am really thrilled with this lip gloss in ‘Mixer.’ Although it doesn’t offer too much color, it does give a nice pop of translucent shine with a peachy-pink tint to it that I really enjoy. There is a beautiful shimmer to this gloss too, and it’s super lightweight and leaves my lips feeling hydrated. Best of all, it’s not at all sticky, which is a major win for me… I hate the feeling of sticky lips! I really enjoy the doe foot applicator of this product, and overall, I’m happy to have it in my stash.

BASIC BEAUTY Hot Cocoa Bomb Eyeshadow Quad, 4 g - Retail Value $22
This is the last product we received in this box from the brand Basic Beauty. Although I’ve heard of the brand before, I’ve never been too familiar with their products, and I’m happy to have had the chance to check them out through this subscription. My favorite thing by far is that they are a cruelty free company. This Hot Cocoa Bomb is an eyeshadow quad, with one matte and three shimmers for a bronze goddess look, and I approve. These have such a velvety texture that I enjoy, and they are buildable. This quad goes wonderfully with my skin tone and offers a nice amount of flexibility, since the lightest shimmer shade can double as a highlighter. This convenient travel-sized palette is going right into my on-the-go beauty bag.

SAINT LUXE Shimmer Body Oil in Gilded, 30 ml - Retail Value $30
I love this shimmer body oil from Saint Luxe. I am a huge fan of body oil in general and will always choose it in lieu of a body lotion. This body oil has a luxurious vanilla scent to it that is not at all overpowering, and it really does provide some glorious hydration. This shimmery oil definitely leaves my body sparkling bright like a diamond, perfect for summertime. As far as the texture goes, it is a bit thicker than I imagined an ‘oil’ would be, and it almost feels like a gel texture, but no complaints here. When I applied this to my body, the oil absorbed quickly into my skin and left it feeling soft, smooth, and shining.

SAINT LUXE Retractable Gel Eyeliner in Tiger’s Eye, 3 g - Retail Value $14
A solid dark eyeliner is always a must-have in my standard makeup routine, so I’m always excited to try a new one. I had no idea that Saint Luxe had eyeliner. I honestly haven’t tried very many things from the brand, but I was very impressed with the body oil above, and I also really enjoyed this gel eyeliner. It’s very easy to apply, thanks to the very precise, pointed tip, and the product is easy to retract after using. It glides on smoothly and creamily. It’s a nice, soft formula that is very comfortable to apply and great for all-day wear.

NURIA Purifying Bubble Mask, 1 mask - Retail Value $6
I’m a huge fan of sheet masks, so naturally, I was thrilled to see this Purifying Bubble Mask from Nuria included in this box! I enjoy the Nuria brand, and this mask utilizes the purifying power of green tea plus charcoal to lift away any toxins from your face including dirt, dust, oil, and micro-particles. Green tea contains a powerhouse infusion of antioxidants that can help soothe skin and combat anti-aging, so I was excited to give this a try. As the name suggests, this bubble mask really does ‘bubble’ on your face, and that’s pretty cool. I applied this mask and let it sit on my face for a little under ten minutes, and when I removed it, my skin immediately looked brighter and felt smooth and more refreshed.
I really enjoyed this first-ever Cocotique Makeup Lovers Box! I love how the curation included a wide diversity of products, stemming from skincare to date night glam. The bubble mask, I obviously loved, thanks to my addiction to sheet masks, and I also really enjoy the brand Nuria. Saint Luxe’s body oil was luxuriously hydrating, and it left my skin feeling smooth and soft with no oily or greasy residue. I also really enjoyed the lip gloss from Basic Beauty, as well as the lip kit. I like how the gloss is a more delicate, light shimmer for daytime wear, and the lip kit pulls out all the stops with its deep, sultry color, which works perfectly with the wine/maroon blush. The eyeshadow quad had some of my favorite tones included; three neutral golden shimmers and one matte. I like how the shades are versatile and how compact the product is. Lastly, the Saint Luxe eyeliner was a new product discovery for me. I really enjoyed how soft and comfortable it was to apply and wear. Overall, I think this was a really great first Cocotique Makeup Lovers Box, and the value is definitely there.
