Cat Lady Box is a monthly subscription box for cat ladies (or anyone who is crazy about cats)! The $34.99 per month Cat Lady Box has 2-3 cat-themed items – wearables, items for the home, books, etc., while the $39.99 per month Crazy Cat Lady Box contains everything from the Cat Lady Box plus a few items just for cats.

This is a review of the Crazy Cat Lady Box.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)

First Impressions

As soon as the box arrives, you know your cat-loving heart is in for a good time. Everything arrives in a brown cardboard box with a black cat silhouette on it. Once you open it up, you can expect to find anything from cat-themed jewelry, clothes, home decor, and more. If you subscribe to the Crazy Cat Lady box, you'll also get a few treats for your furbaby, too.

This box does come with an info sheet, and each month they feature custom artwork. This month's artist was Elizabeth Anderson.

The Breakdown – What’s Inside The May Crazy Cat Lady Box

First, let's meet the cat that will be helping me to review this box. If you've been reading my MSA reviews for a while, you may remember my old cat, Duchess. Duchess is no longer here with me, and after a few months, I felt ready to get another cat companion. Meet Sir Goose! I adopted him when he was one month and twenty-two days old, and he was 2.2 pounds. Now he is a year old and he loves toys—I have yet to find a toy he won't play with.

I can't believe how big Goose has gotten—he turned one on April 5th! He loves to hang out with my packages as I am in the process of unboxing and photographing them.

My Kids Have Paws Shirt - Listed Value $22.99

You can expect some kind of wearable item every month with your Cat Lady Box subscription, and I have gotten quite a few of their tees. I really like them, though—the fabric is soft, and the longer cut of the torso is flattering on my body shape. This bright blue and pink color combination isn't really something I would reach for on my own, but it's certainly fun for wearing around the house and being comfy. The front of the shirt says, in pink lettering, "my kids have paws" with a few scattered paw prints thrown in for good measure.

Cuddly Cat Throw Pillow - Listed Value $13.99

This is on the smaller end of throw pillows, but it certainly is cuddly. This is actually the perfect size for me to toss in my backpack if I was going to be traveling but wanted to bring a pillow with me to avoid getting neck pain from sleeping awkwardly. It's cozy and can be smooshed up into your desired shape if you're using it for neck support, or it can just look cute on your couch or bed.

Meow Block Letter Ring - Listed Value $19.99

This letter block ring definitely isn't my style—I don't wear rings in general, and the block letter style of this one is reminding me of the rings I may have purchased when I was (a lot) younger. I appreciate that it's adjustable to fit a variety of fingers, and I think this is something that could easily be passed on to someone younger who would be able to wear it a lot more frequently than I ever would. It's nickel- and lead-free, too.

Goose did give his sniff of approval for the ring.

Meow Zip Pouch - Listed Value $19.99

This is a nicely made zippered pouch. It's made from vegan leather and feels very sturdy, and it can store a variety of things from makeup an travel-sized skincare to pens and pencils. The "meow" printed at the bottom is discreet but still fun, and this is something I would be able to get practical use out of since I have been traveling to see my boyfriend so frequently (he's stationed at a military base in another state).

Now let's get to Goose's favorite part of the box (besides the bubble wrap...): the toys!

Key to Meow Heart Catnip Toy - Listed Value $5.99

This catnip toy in the shape of a key is a cutie—look at that blushing smiley face on it!

Goose gave it a quick sniff before jumping right into chewing on it. The longer shape made it easier for him to hold it up to his face with his paw, and he had fun alternating between biting it and batting it around.

Baabara The Sheep Catnip Toy - Listed Value $5.99

This sheep catnip toy has had a cute, smiling face, only it was much cozier than the key toy. I don't think it's a coincidence that Goose liked licking and rubbing his face against this toy moreso than biting it compared to the key toy.

He took one sniff when I held it out, then claimed it as his own.

Value – Was This Box Worth It?

The Cost: $39.99 per month + free US shipping.

Value Breakdown:

  • Shirt: $22.99
  • Throw Pillow: $13.99
  • Ring: $19.99
  • Pouch: $19.99
  • Key Toy: $5.99
  • Sheep Toy: $5.99

Everything in this box is unique to the subscription, so I have to go by listed values. The listed values add up to $88.94, which is more than double the cost of the box.

Key Takeaways

This is such a charming subscription box. I love that I get to share it with Goose, and I really love that the box features a good mix of practical items with a touch of whimsy. I always feel satisfied with the curation of this box, so even though this month didn't feel like it was designed exactly with me in mind, I can still appreciate the effort that went into the overall experience. While you should take the listed values with a grain of salt, I absolutely feel like there was more than $39.99 of value in this box. If you have cats and/or like cat-themed things, I recommend checking this subscription box out. If you're looking for fun cat-themed items you can enjoy around your home and share with your feline friend, you're going to see a lot more value in this box than someone who is going strictly off of listed values (or who desires brand name products in a box).

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

Loved your…and Goose’s…review, as always! Cat Lady box is always one of my favorites. I can’t afford it every month, but get it as often as possible.
