Allure Beauty Box is a $23 monthly beauty subscription from Allure Magazine. Each month they send out a mix of deluxe and full-size samples from mostly high-end brands. (It was named one of the best beauty subscription boxes by MSA readers in the 2022 Subscription Box Awards.)

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)

First Impressions

Note: Your box might look a little different! To see all variations, check out our spoiler post here!

As always, the box arrives beautifully packaged in typical white and red Allure fashion!

There was also a helpful mini-magazine with more info on the products.

Now, on to the items!

COSRx Full Fit Propolis Light Ampoule, 30 mL - Retail Value $28 (full size)

The expensive item in the box this month is this night treatment that contains shea, niacinamide, lactic acid, and bakuchiol (a plant-based retinol alternative). I am always skeptical of expensive products like this, and though I think the ingredient list is pretty great, I can't say I would spend this much on it above other comparable and significantly less expensive options out there. Still, it is nice to get for a lot less in this $23 box. I used this for a few nights before bed and my skin did feel significantly more moisturized, though I think I would need to use it for longer to notice anything else more dramatic. But in terms of "user experience", the texture and scent of this cream are wonderful.

CIATÉ LONDON Everyday Vacay Palette - Retail Value $30

Not a big fan of this brand, but I was pretty taken with this palette. It looks like the vacation I won't get to go on this year! Inside is an assortment of nudes, pinks, browns, and one particularly lovely smoked lavender. There are 4 larger shades (they are the first ones swatched below) that feel more versatile and the smaller squares give them more creative twists! Performance was pretty good across the board, with the matte red being the only one that felt finicky.

SEPHORA Smooth + Blur Primer, 5 mL - Estimated Value $2.67 (Buy 30 mL for $16.00)

I think primers must be the subscription box "thing" of 2022. I feel like this product that I don't use is literally around every corner. It is interesting to see a Sephora product inside an Allure box, though! Is this some sort of beauty brand inception? Though this primer looks very tinted, that tan shade mostly disappears when you rub it in. I tend to buy the lightest shade of concealer these days and I did notice a little warm hue left behind on my skin. The finish is powdery and soft, though I found the leftover tint a little too distracting to see if it actually blurred pores.

LA ROCHE-POSAY Lipikar Balm AP+ Intense Repair Body Moisturizing Cream, 15 ml - Estimated Value $0.75 (buy 400 mL for $19.99)

This heavy balm is excellent for dry knees and elbows. Mine are always a mess anyways, but I have been using the fake turf at my gym for my planks and stretches and they are torn up right now! This balm is heavy-weight but super smoothing and calming. This is going to be a product I buy a full size of.

FLOSS Lip Advocate in 'Your Honor' - Retail Value $18

This familiar chubby crayon is too easy to just apply and go! Especially if you like a fresh-faced look. The sheer pink color is universally flattering and you don't need a mirror to apply it perfectly. It leaves my lips smooth and smells like vanilla.

Verdict

This month's Allure Beauty Box has a value of $206.42, which is a lot for a $23 box. Most of the value is in the night cream, which I ended up liking quite a lot. I was also pleased to get a new bottle of that propolis ampoule since mine is pretty close to empty. Other wins? The lip crayon and the balm. And I thought the palette was a great color story for summer. The primer was a miss, but, hey, the rest was pretty good!

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I received the Raindrench Serum and it is so sticky! The palette is more suited to a teenager in quality and content. Belif body moisturizer has like a Vaseline texture which might be ok after a bath but not during the day.
The best is the Symbiosis eye mask. It visibly reduced the fine lines n bags under my eyes.
Allure is the only beauty sub I get now. Not happy all the time but usually is worth the price.

I think the Symbiosis product is heavily overpriced.

I started using the Able Skincare cream that came in an earlier box and while it’s a perfectly serviceable product, there is no way I would pay $106 for another tube.

I was so mad about not being able to skip a box on-line, I emailed and canceled my membership. If July or August is good, I’ll rejoin.
