Everyone knows Sephora is a beauty store where you can find almost anything and everything related to makeup, skincare, body care, hair care, and self-care, but they also released curated sets under their Sephora Favorites brand. Every year they release a set curated around good for you "clean" beauty must-haves, and they recently released this years version. Unfortunately, this set sold out pretty quickly.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)

First Impressions

This set comes packaged in a compostable and recyclable pouch, keeping with the theme of the box. More information about the products were printed on the back of the bag, which was helpful when I was referencing sizes.

The Breakdown – What’s Inside This Limited Edition Box From Sephora

ITEM Beauty by Addison Rae Lip Quip Clean Moisturizing Lip Gloss in Come Thru, 1.7 mL – Estimated Value $6.26 (buy the 3.8 mL version for $14

This is like a hybrid between a lip oil and a lip gloss, and I found it to be really nourishing to my lips. The shade Come Thru is a sheer rose that added the softest touch of color to my lips along with lots of shine, and it's allegedly Addison's go-to shade. I found this to be the slightest bit sticky, but it truly didn't bother me at all.

Tower28 Beauty SOS Hydrating Face Spray, 1 oz – Retail Value $12

This facial spray is made with just three ingredients: water, sodium chloride, and hypochlorous acid. Something about the science behind hypochlorous acid makes it great for treating sensitive or stressed skin, and the water and sodium chloride work to help with optimal delivery. I love having this travel-sized bottle in my travel bag because there's an increased chance my skin will be irritated after traveling. The nozzle on the spray mists my face in a pleasant way and not in a water hose to your face way, which is an added plus.

Kosas 10-Second Eye Gel Watercolor Eyeshadow in Heat, 2 mL – Retail Value $15

I haven't tried the Kosas eyeshadows since they changed the formula from a liquid to a cream-gel texture, so I was surprised at how small the full-size version of this is. The shade "Heat" is a really pretty shimmery rose gold and the gel texture felt incredibly comfortable on my eyelids, but I could not for the life of me get this eyeshadow to not crease on me no matter what I did. Neither eyeshadow primer nor waiting for minutes on end for the formula to dry nor setting spray (or a combination of all three) could keep this from creasing and looking patchy once it was applied to my lids and I blinked a few times.

Saie Glowy Super Gel Lightweight Dewy Highlighter in Starglow, 15 mL – Retail Value $15

I was excited to see this product in this set because it meant I would finally be able to try something from Saie! This dewy highlighter meant what they said when this was named a glowy super gel. It has a lightweight texture gel that is different from any other highlighter I have tried, and it blends nicely onto my skin thanks to ingredients like glycerin and rosehip seed oil. The shade Starglow is a universal champagne, and the sparkle is incredibly fine. Because of the texture and the way the product is formulated, this worked for me as a luminizing highlighter that looked beautiful once mixed into my foundation and applied all over my face. It gave me such a radiant finish without any heaviness!

MERIT Shade Slick Tinted Lip Oil in Marrakech, 7 mL – Retail Value $24

A lot of people on Instagram were hyping up MERIT when they launched their lip oils, but I didn't feel the need to try it immediately and didn't feel like (from looks alone) the lip oil would be anything special. Boy, was I wrong- I love this lip oil. It's ridiculously comfortable to wear and somehow isn't sticky at all even though it's a lip oil. The texture isn't too thick and is nourishing to my lips, and the shade Marrakech is a soft peach that's really pretty.

From top to bottom here is the Item Beauty lip gloss swatched, the Kosas eyeshadow, the MERIT lip oil, and a heavy swatch of the Saie highlighter.

ILIA Limitless Lash Lengthening Mascara, 3 g – Retail Value $13

I love this Ilia mascara- I would put it in my top five favorite mascaras of all time. Each side of the wand has different bristles which allows you to coat your lashes in different ways, and I really get great definition, curl, and volume when I wear this mascara. No issues with clumping, flaking, or smearing, either! I've been using this mascara for about two and a half years, and I don't plan on stopping.

Here I am wearing almost everything in the set. I applied the Tower28 spray to my face before applying the Saie highlighter mixed with my concealer all over my face, and then I applied the Kosas eyeshadow, Ilia mascara, and MERIT lip oil. The only thing I supplied myself in these photos were my concealer and black eyeliner. What do you think?

Value – Was This Box Worth It?

The Cost: $32

Cost Breakdown:

  • Item Beauty: $6.26 → $2.35
  • Tower28: $12 → $4.50
  • Kosas: $15 → $6.16
  • Saie: $15 → $6.16
  • Merit: $24 → $9
  • Ilia: $13 → $4.88

Sephora promised a value of $86 for this kit, and my math adds up to $85.26- that's close enough to the promised value for me to say Sephora met the promised value, and it's also more than double the cost of the box.

Key Takeaways

I can see why this Sephora Favorites set sold out a lot faster than the rest of them usually do- all of them except the Item Beauty lip gloss are full-sized or the larger travel-sized minis instead of small samples, and all of them except the Kosas eyeshadow performed really, really well for me. The Saie highlighter, Tower28 spray, and Merit lip oil now permanently live in my travel makeup bag. The value feels really solid for a set that only cost $32, and this was just all-around a well-curated, well-performing set.

Just a heads up, sodium chloride may be something to avoid if one is prone to breakouts. I had to do a HUGE overhaul on all my skincare and all my make up. I whittled away my huge stash to almost nothing. I will never again take good skin for granted.
