Open Shot of Envelope for Ipsy Glam Bag May 2022

Everything comes packaged snugly in the signature pink Ipsy bubble mailer.

Included is a product card that either has a list of the products and any beauty tips.

Each month, Ipsy subscribers get a makeup bag in addition to their items. This month’s theme is 'Wild Beauty.' This bag is giving me some strong '90s home decor vibes. Home Interiors party, anyone? Somehow, though, it’s perfectly fitting for a May bag, the month in which mothers are honored (Mother’s Day). In fact, I’m going to pass along this cute little bag to my own mom. The flowers, the purples and pinks, the bold pattern… She will love it.

Now, on to the items!

REVEL MATES Nail Lacquer in Blowout, 15 ml - Retail Value $5.99

What an interesting nail lacquer color choice. It’s definitely on-theme with this month’s bag, and the springtime/Mother’s Day essence of it. The shade ‘Blowout’ has a lilac tint to it. This seems to be a good quality polish. When I applied the first coat, it didn’t take very long to dry down, seeming to set rather quickly. However, this polish is definitely one in which you will need to apply at least two, possibly three, coats in order to have that bright pop of color. I’m not sure if this is across the board for the Revel Nail brand, but I’m assuming it’s because of this color and others like it. Lighter colors in general tend to require more coats, in my experience. What I do love about this lacquer is that it is entirely free from all toxic chemicals like formaldehyde, toluene, and DBP chemicals. It is also cruelty free and vegan, which is always a win for me. I will say, though, the scent is just as potent as any other typical nail polish, but I’m interested to see if the durability lives up to the standards it proclaims.

THE CRÈME SHOP Fusion Sheet Mask Duo in Vitamin C and Hyaluronic Acid and Turmeric and Matcha, 2 masks - Retail Value $6.00

I’m a huge fan of sheet masks, so naturally, I was happy to get my hands on this mask duo from The Crème Shop. I love K-beauty. My thirsty skin almost always loves it right back. I’ve found that with K-beauty, I have much fewer concerns or experiences with skin irritation. Being familiar with this brand, I was already at ease. This month, we received two of their fusion sheet masks: one Vitamin C and Hyaluronic Acid and one Turmeric and Matcha. The Vitamin C and Hyaluronic Acid mask is right up my alley, thanks to the Vitamin C that helps brighten skin and aid in cell regeneration and the hyaluronic acid, which hydrates skin and reduces visibility of fine lines. For my skin, Vitamin C can be a bit harsh but when it’s paired with hyaluronic acid, like in this mask, I have nothing but good results. As far as the Turmeric and Matcha mask, this one is just the thing for when my skin is experiencing a breakout. Unlike other harsher ingredients like tea tree, the turmeric and matcha in this mask work together to banish any inflammation. Both of these masks have a nice light scent that is not at all overpowering. When trying these out, I let them sit on my face for around 20 minutes. Let me tell you, they are super hydrating and leave my skin with that fresh-faced, glowy look everyone’s always after, not to mention buoyant, happy, and healthy.

YENSA BEAUTY Pink Lotus Peptide Renewal Eye Cream, 5 ml - Estimated Retail Value $16.00

I can always use a good eye cream, and one from Yensa Beauty, no less! In the past, I’ve had the opportunity to try quite a few products from Yensa Beauty, all of which I have enjoyed, but I’ve never had the chance to experience their Pink Lotus Peptide Renewal Eye Cream until now. The highlight of this cream is its ‘8 Power Pink Essence,’ which includes pink lotus, rose, peony, acerola cherry, cherry blossom, Korean black raspberry, camellia, and pomegranate. Formula-wise, these eight powerhouse ingredients work together to decrease puffiness, brighten and firm eye area, minimize dark circles, wrinkles, and fine lines, and more. I first gave this eye cream a try after my nighttime cleansing routine, and I was pleasantly surprised by how fast-absorbing it was. Personally, I tend to lean more toward gel-based products because cream-based products sometimes clog my pores, but I am happy to say that that was not the case with this cream. It did not leave any greasy feeling behind, and I found the scent, although floral, to be pleasant, extremely mild, and not at all overpowering.

OUAI Melrose Place Body Cleanser, 30 ml - Estimated Retail Value $2.80

I’m no stranger to the Ouai brand, and when I saw that they had a body cleanser, I was excited to give it a try. This Melrose Place Body Cleanser is really nice. The scent reminds me of a high-end spa, and a little goes a long way to create a thick lather needed to give that squeaky clean feeling I love minus the dryness. The scent ‘Melrose Place’ is a rose-based scent infused with a delightful blend of lychee, bergamot, white musk, champagne, and more. Now, I’m ordinarily not a fan of anything that even mentions ‘rose,’ but I have to say… I really enjoy it. That’s a definite win for Ouai, in my opinion. The body cleanser’s formula includes hydrating jojoba seed and rosehip oils for the ultimate luxurious cleansing experience. I only wish this bottle was a bit larger, but it’s perfect for travel.

PINKLIPPS COSMETICS Lumi Balm Lip Tint in Dream, 2.8 g - Estimated Retail Value $12.00

I’m pretty impressed by how much I enjoyed this Lumi Balm Lip Tint in Dream from Pinklipps Cosmetics. The shade is an incredibly pretty pink that adds a nice pop of color to any look. Just a quick swipe or two of this balm can bring a certain amount of life to my lips while also keeping them hydrated instead of drying them out like a typical lipstick would do. This balm is just the thing to bring that natural look to my face, even if I skipped out on the mascara that day. When I applied this to my lips, the balm was silky smooth and surprisingly buildable. The formula isn’t at all sticky like some balms can be, and that’s a major win for me. I truly despise sticky or greasy lips…one of my pet peeves, really. Another bonus is that the product is virtually scentless. The tint lasts a while too, which I appreciate.

Verdict

I truly enjoyed this month’s IPSY Glam Bag! The highlight for me were those two sheet masks from The Crème Shop. Your girl was in desperate need of some pampering time. I love how hydrating these masks are to my skin and that they have a barely-there scent that doesn’t make my head hurt. Ouai’s body cleanser was another nice treat. It lathers beautifully, and the scent is a delight that for a moment made me rethink my hatred of anything rose-related. I am thrilled to have found a new favorite eye cream. Yensa Beauty’s pink lotus eye cream is soothing to sensitive under eyes and doesn’t cause any irritation. I’m excited to see the long-term results. I was pleasantly surprised with Pinklipps Cosmetics’ lip tint, which does a wonderful job of livening up my face for a midday meeting. Lastly, the nail lacquer from Revel Nail…for me, the color is pretty, but I’m not likely to use this frequently since it takes so many coats to create an opaque glaze, but overall, the quality seems to be good, so I’ll hang onto this for a special occasion. Overall, I thought this was a great month for IPSY. I like how the products featured in this curation were self-care heavy. The perfect reminder to give yourself a break every now and then and just sink into your own little pampering process. This bag had a nice variety too, and gave me plenty of opportunity to try some new-to-me brands and products, which I appreciate. Also, the value was definitely there.

Amy V Ipsy also includes the value of the bag which they say averages I think $8-10 in that $50 value:/

Ipsy customer service keeps denying to me that the bag values are supposed to be $50. I just don’t understand CS. Every concern I have is brushed off. I have pre-paid memberships so I can’t leave them.

This is the 2nd review I’ve read where the bag value was under $50. The other reviewer had stated the bags are supposed to be worth $50+, according to IPSY. Ouch.
