Cat Lady Box is a monthly subscription box for cat ladies (or anyone who is crazy about cats)! The $34.99 per month Cat Lady Box has 2-3 cat-themed items – wearables, items for the home, books, etc., while the $39.99 per month Crazy Cat Lady Box contains everything from the Cat Lady Box plus a few items just for cats.

This is a review of the Crazy Cat Lady Box.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)

First Impressions

As soon as the box arrives, you know your cat-loving heart is in for a good time. Everything arrives in a brown cardboard box with a black cat silhouette on it. Once you open it up, you can expect to find anything from cat-themed jewelry, clothes, home decor, and more. If you subscribe to the Crazy Cat Lady box, you'll also get a few treats for your furbaby, too.

This box does come with an info sheet, and each month they feature custom artwork. This month's artist was Lim Heng Swee, also known as ilovedoodle.

We also got a note that the May box will be their annual Cat Mom's Day Box. It seems that Cat Lady Box has a handful of special themes each year, and I have enjoyed them all so far.

The Breakdown – What’s Inside The April Crazy Cat Lady Box

First, let's meet the cat that will be helping me to review this box. If you've been reading my MSA reviews for a while, you may remember my old cat, Duchess. Duchess is no longer here with me, and after a few months, I felt ready to get another cat companion. Meet Sir Goose! I adopted him when he was one month and twenty-two days old, and he was 2.2 pounds. Now he is a year old and he loves toys- I have yet to find a toy he won't play with.

I can't believe how big Goose has gotten- he turned one on April 5th! He loves to hang out with my packages as I am in the process of unboxing and photographing them.

Good Vibes Shirt - Listed Value $22.99

I love the shirts that Cat Lady Box sends- they have a longer torso and are really soft, so they're really comfortable for me to wear and feel like the shirt won't ride up and expose my stomach to the world. I think this is my favorite shirt design since I started receiving this box- I love the charcoal color with the peach design of the cat wearing sunglasses. Can't we all use a little more good vibes in our life?

Good Vibes Cat Hat - Listed Value $19.99

I am not a hat person, but if I were going to wear a ball cap I would reach for this one. I really like the purple color and how it's adjustable in the back (by a metal fastener, not velcro, so it won't get caught in my hair), and the cat design isn't ostentatious. It's hard for me to wear hats because of how thick and voluminous my curls are, but this one fit my face really well and I felt kinda cute in it. I'm going to keep it stowed with my Cat Lady Box picnic blanket from last month because a picnic seems like the perfect occasion to wear this hat and keep the sun out of my face.

Color Changing Tumbler - Listed Value $14.99

I absolutely adore tumblers. I save all of my Starbucks rewards and redeem them when a reusable cup strikes my fancy, and I have amassed a collection and don't plan on stopping. I've always preferred to consume beverages with a straw, and the lid of a tumbler has become incredibly important since Goose actually loves to drink water from human glasses- which usually results in the glass being knocked over and spilled onto the floor. This cup is blue at room temperature and will turn a lilac shade of purple when cold water touches it, which makes for a cool-looking cup, especially when my glass is half-full.

Neon Cat Sticky Notes - Listed Value $7.99

I use a lot of sticky notes in my day job, so I was absolutely charmed to receive these neon cat sticky notes. I find them to be adorable and love that I got a variety of colors, and they're functional, too- the adhesive worked pretty well for me, whereas sometimes other fun sticky notes won't actually stick.

Groovy Grin Catnip Toy - Listed Value $4.99

I love this pink felt smiley face cat toy-it makes me want to smile when I see it. Since it's filled with catnip, Goose liked it too- especially when I would hold it out to him for him to rub his face against.

I've seen him bat this around the apartment a bit, but Goose definitely prefers it when I hold it and he can rub up against it. The fuzzy felt material is fraying a little more quickly than I am used to with my Cat Lady Box toys, but Goose doesn't seem to mind.

Flying Fishie Catnip Wand Toy - Listed Value $5.99

I love using fishing pole-type toys with Goose, and he likes to chase the toy at the end as it's flying in the air and also rub his face against the stick part of it. I am really drawn to the light-colored wooden handle of this toy- it gives me handmade vibes, but not in a poor quality way (more like the toys the elves make in Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer).

Goose appreciated that it functioned as both a toy and a head-scratcher.

Value – Was This Box Worth It?

The Cost: $39.99 per month + free US shipping.

Value Breakdown:

  • Shirt: $22.99
  • Hat: $19.99
  • Tumbler: $14.99
  • Sticky Notes: $7.99
  • Flying Fishie Toy: $5.99
  • Groovy Grin Toy: $4.99

Everything in this box is unique to the subscription, so I have to go by listed values. The listed values add up to $76.94, which is a hair shy of being double the cost of the box.

Key Takeaways

This is such a charming subscription box- I love that I get to share it with Goose, and I really love that the box features a good mix of practical items with a touch of whimsy. I always feel satisfied with the curation of this box, and this month felt especially lovely- all of the good vibes of the box gave me, well, good vibes. The shirt has already been worn multiple times, and I definitely will be getting a lot of use out of my tumbler, too. While you should take the listed values with a grain of salt, I absolutely feel like there was more than $39.99 of value in this box. If you have cats and/or like cat-themed things, I recommend checking this subscription box out. If you're looking for fun cat-themed items you can enjoy around your home and share with your feline friend, you're going to see a lot more value in this box than someone who is going strictly off of listed values (or who desires brand name products in a box).

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

I would love to be able to buy the purple ball cap with the three cats stitched on the front, but I don’t see it for sale on your site
