BEAUTY BAKERIE Sour Ya Doin'? Eyeshadow Palette – Retail Value $38
Well this is a summery palette if I have ever seen one! It is covered in lemons and filled with warm shades that would make a tropical sunset jealous. And, sure, a lot of these might not be everyday sort of shades, but if you overlook the bright orange and yellow, this palette has a backbone of softer shades that are absolutely easy shades that will flatter so many people. Particularly, I loved the sugary iridescent 'Sangria', soft peachy 'Sweet', warm brown 'Choctails', and warm cream 'Sour'. The pigment levels here were lovely and they all apply so smoothly.
PureHeals Real Rose Petal Sleeping Mask, 100 g - Retail Value $55
There is something magical about a mask that you can literally see rose petals floating around in. And this smells exactly like you would hope: a genuine soft rose scent that is much more springy than "old-lady". This beauty is designed to be applied before bed, then slept in. The instructions say that you can wash if off in the morning, but honestly, I am so lazy and I didn't and it was fine. It absorbs! While this wouldn't be heavy enough for me in colder months, in summer when I am less dry, a gel mask like this is a dream. It leaves the skin soft and moisturized without any heavy residue. And those rose petals somehow disappear! And, since I am me, of course, I want to call out a few special ingredients: niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, panthenol, and green tea. Yummy!
Christophe Robin Instant Volume Hair Mist with Rose Water, 5 fl oz – Retail Value $39
This was another delightfully rose-infused product! Truth be told, I have had this arrive before, but one of my best friends scooped it up right away after I had used it only once! She is a massive Christophe Robin fan and I never tell my buddies 'no' when they get heart eyes over a beauty product I happen to have in my stash. This is another really fresh rose scent that I think anyone will love. It smells like spring! I have heavier hair and while this did add a nice bit of volume, it wasn't super dramatic. That being said, it wasn't crunchy either! While I might still pass this on to Julie, I really loved this product, and think if your hair isn't super heavy and thick, the result might be a bit more dramatic.
ITEM Beauty By Addison Rae Lash Snack Clean Lengthening Mascara, 6.5 mL – Retail Value $15
I really wanted to hate this mascara. I am an aging millennial and Addison Rae makes me feel super old. And though I know loads of people eye-roll whenever there is a new celebrity makeup line, I generally like to try those brands out before I decide where I stand. And I have now tried a lip oil and a mascara from ITEM Beauty, and I liked them both a lot. This mascara is absolutely more of a length and curl formula over volume. And it does length and curl very, very well. The downside is that the first pass is clump-free and smooth, but when I tried to add another layer, I noticed little bitty bumps and clumps. So just keep that in mind for sure. Aside from that, my sensitive eyes were very happy with this very affordable mascara.
Persona 24 HR Waterproof Eyeliner in 'Black' - $14.00
Why does Boxy think I need a random black eyeliner as the last item so often? Maybe if you wear black liner daily this is less of an annoyance to you, but, well, I regift A LOT of black mascara. Now, these complaints are not a reflection if this particular pencil. It seemed pretty great! Smooth, smokey, and long-lasting. But, ugh, please no more, Boxycharm.
Verdict
I really enjoyed this month's BoxyCharm. The eyeshadow makes me so excited for summer! And the rose mask and hair mist were marvelous! I was also very surprised with how much I liked the mascara, but, hey, that is why we all love subscription boxes, right? And, the black eyeliner? Honestly send me any other color than black and I won't complain. There are so many options that would be more exciting. Value-wise, this box lands at $161 which is a lot of value for a $27.99 box.
