Super Chewer is a reader-favorite monthly subscription box for dogs, customized to your dog’s size. For reference, THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE MEDIUM DOG SIZE; Murray (my 23lb Corgi-Maltese mix) will be reviewing this month's toys and treats to let you know if this subscription is up to sniff... I mean snuff!

The Super Chewer box is targeted for playful pups that are a little rough with their playthings. For $45 per month, you receive three toys, two chews, and two treats in every box.

This month, we received the same treats for the Super Chewer box as we did for the Barkbox; however, we did get three different toys.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)

First Impressions

The May 2022 'Welcome to the Bark Side' box included three toys, two bags of treats, and two chews - this is pretty typical for this subscription, but after your first box, you can tailor the subscription more for your dog's needs.

What's Inside The Box

Mos Eisley Munchies, 4 oz

This month's box collaboration is with Star Wars, bringing us special treats and toys honoring Star Wars characters. This bag of treats is the first thing Murray pulled out of the box and for good reason. He absolutely loves Barkbox treats, and he can never get enough of their chewy biscuits. Made with grass-fed lamb and real cheddar cheese, these were a total crowd-pleaser.

Dagobah Doggo Bites, 3 oz.

Of course, this jerky treat totally knocked it out of the park for my pooch. How could you possibly go wrong with farm-raised pork and bacon? There aren't any artificial preservatives in this treat, and it is also naturally smoked.

The Pet Gourmet Chew Stick Pumpkin & Honey Recipe, 2 x 1.35oz – Retail Value $2.49

2 honey and pumpkin chew sticks

Murray received this same chew last month; here are his thoughts about it then and now:

I gave Murray this pumpkin and honey chew, looked away for maybe 30 seconds, and it was gone! I looked through the couch and all around the floor, but sure enough, he diligently ate that thing at record speed. He loves to munch on these; they are great for an extra-special treat, and they are also good for a dog's dental health.

Pumpkin is also great for sensitive bellies, so this chew should work for most the pups out there.

Ultimutt Jedi Lightsaber Nylon Toy

Of course, Mur is partial to a fuzzy, furry, soft toy to bat around, but he gave this nylon toy a fair shot. This solid nylon toy is made for the most dedicated chewers out there, and we all know that Murray doesn't have that kind of attention span. This style is meant to be used during supervised play because it can develop sharp edges or burrs that are meant to be sanded down for your dog's safety. It is BPA free, top-rack dishwasher safe, and it has a vanilla scent to allure your pooch.

Power of the Bark Side

Murray loved this interesting spin on a ball. Darth's hood flapped around enough to create intrigue, and he loved fetching this ball and snagging it off the ground by the extra flap of fabric. Underneath Darth's dark helmet and mask, you'll find a completely new toy made of all-natural rubber for your pup to play with. There is a squeaker imbedded in the rubber for an extra flair of fun.

Murray is patiently waiting for me to throw the ball.

Chew are my Only Hope

This toy is very similar to the Darth ball above, and Murray reacted in the same fashion. He's been really into fetch recently, mostly when my toddler throws a toy for him, so his new balls will be welcomed into the play rotation. This is a really great size for Murray to hold in his mouth and for Ronan to grasp in his hand to throw. If your dog likes to rip toys apart, he will have a blast discovering the new rubberized toy underneath this fabric. There is a squeaker in this one, too!

Verdict

This month's Super Chewer is an outstanding value, per usual, for its $45 price. Mur loved this month's Star Wars-themed treats and toys. The ball toys were his favorite finds, and of course, as a food-motivated kind of guy, this month's treats went above and beyond for my boy. BarkBox's Super Chewer is a fantastic box with hardy toys for hardy chewers; you can feel the "built to last" quality in each toy sent out.

Value - Was This Box Worth It?

The Cost: $45.00 per month + free shipping

VALUE BREAKDOWN

Since these products are all made by BarkBox and can't be found elsewhere on the internet, I was not able to get a retail value for each item. I received a total of six products this month, which averages out to about $7.50 for the $45 a month cost. This is a steal for the quality of each item. You would absolutely pay more for lesser products in a pet shop, making this subscription well worth the cost.

To Wrap Up

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes! Boxes ship within the first 2 weeks of each month.
