Ipsy is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. For $13 per month, you get five full-size or deluxe-sized products, plus a cute makeup bag.

This is one of our top recommendations if you are looking for a subscription box — the value and sample sizes are amazing. Just like Birchbox, Ipsy sends out many different variations of their bag each month — so my review is just one of the bag variations you might receive!

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes).

First Impressions

Open Envelope for Ipsy Glam Bag April 2022

Everything comes packaged snugly in the signature pink Ipsy bubble mailer.

Included is a product card that either has a list of the products and any beauty tips.

Each month, Ipsy subscribers get a makeup bag in addition to their items. This month's theme was 'Keep Growing.' This month’s bag is adorable and so very ‘springy.’ I love the daisy pattern, which is perfectly complemented by the pink and yellow color scheme. My favorite part about this little makeup bag, however, is the zipper’s hardware. It’s a delicate enamel daisy with ‘IPSY’ on the back of its gold-plating. I’m pumped to see what products are included this time around and if they hold true to the bag’s initial springtime vibes.

Now, on to the items!

GLOW RECIPE Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dew Drops, 5 ml - Estimated Retail Value $4.25

I love Glow Recipe’s Watermelon Glow line. I may even be, dare I say, a little obsessed. Each product from this line has the same delightful watermelon scent that brings me right back to days on the playground with a mouthful of watermelon-flavored Jolly Ranchers. These Dew Drops work as an innovative skincare/makeup hybrid. So, not only is it a facial serum that leaves behind a bright, glowing complexion on those no-makeup days, but also, the product can be used as a highlighter after makeup, a primer before makeup, and more. I really appreciate the lightweight texture of these Dew Drops and the fact that it absorbs quickly and is not at all greasy. Since this can be used as a primer, the product does have an initial ‘tacky’ feeling to it that quickly dries down. After cleansing my face in the morning, I applied this formula to my skin as the last step to my skincare routine, and it left behind a nice pop of highlight on my face. Plus, it made me look a bit more alive for one of my 8 a.m. Zoom meetings, so that’s a win as far as I’m concerned. I have also been using this as a nighttime serum (applying before moisturizer), and by the morning, my skin is hydrated, bouncy, and buoyant.

HEY HONEY Propolis Foot and Heel Repair Cream, 25 ml - Estimated Retail Value $5.00

I love having particular skincare products for every part of my body, so this Hey Honey Propolis Foot and Heel Repair Cream is an exciting inclusion for me. Although I most often use some tried-and-true baby oil for my moisturizing purposes, I gave this cream a try, and I was impressed. It handled any leftover dry skin like a boss while also soothing my achy feet after a long day in heels. The scent of this cream is interesting, with the sage and basil mingling to create a kind of natural aroma that I didn’t find to be overpowering or particularly unpleasant. I was interested to find out that sage and basil both have antibacterial properties, so while I personally have never dealt with foot odor, I like knowing that this cream helps eliminate such types of bacteria on top of soothing and hydrating.

BEAUTY FOR REAL Be Seen Weightless Liquid Lipstick in Maxed Out, 2 ml - Estimated Retail Value $9.33

I’m not much of a lipstick gal. I tend to reach for a hydrating lip gloss or chapstick. That said, I was pretty impressed with this Beauty for Real Be Seen Weightless Liquid Lipstick in "Maxed Out". The color is powerfully vibrant and works well with my skin tone, which I appreciate. What was most surprising to me, however, was how truly ‘weightless’ this liquid lip is. The formula applies smoothly and dries down quickly without any caking. There doesn’t seem to be much transfer from this lipstick, and a little goes a long way. My favorite thing about this product is that it goes on as a gloss and includes a doe foot applicator, which makes it easier to apply than an ordinary lipstick. This is one of the better liquid lipsticks I’ve tried lately, especially when it comes to extended wear. One thing I did notice is that it tends to dry out my lip when I wear it alone. I’ve been combatting this by applying a clear gloss over top once the lipstick dries down, and it’s much more comfortable.

IBY BEAUTY Boho Lush Eyeshadow in Wild at Heart, 1.5 g - Estimated Retail Value $3.00

This IBY Beauty Boho Lush Eyeshadow sample comes in the shade of "Wild at Heart." It’s a pretty metallic pink that works well for my skin tone, and it’s only one of nine shades from the full-size palette. Sure, this shade is pretty. The quality of the shadow is solid. But when it comes down to it, if I have a full-size eyeshadow palette within reach, I will almost certainly always reach for that before I would reach for this sample-sized shadow. Now, I have held back for a long long time but I simply cannot any longer. IBY's sample packaging is the most frustrating Polly Pocket-sized compact ever. While I almost always love the shade, I more often than not become enraged while trying to pry open the sample and come close to tossing it out... And now you know, lol. I do enjoy and appreciate the infusion of rosehip seed oil in this formula, along with Vitamin E, to nourish skin and provide antioxidant benefits. I will likely pass along this shadow to a patient friend of mine who will get more use out of it than I will, but either way, the shade is nice and the quality is there.

ACEOLOGY Hydro Glow and Deep Hydration Watermelon Eye Mask, 1 pair - Estimated Retail Value $7.25

These eye masks are bomb. Seriously, I love them. I enjoy eye masks, in general, but these Hydro Glow and Deep Hydration Watermelon Eye Masks from Aceology are by far one of my favorites. My favorite thing to do is pop these bad boys in the fridge (when I remember) for about ten minutes before applying. The additional coolness on my under-eye area feels incredible, and it really helps to keep me looking alive, alert, awake, enthusiastic… I’ve noticed a considerably more brightened, hydrated, and soothed look after leaving these little masks on for about twenty minutes before applying the remaining steps of my skincare. These masks contain watermelon extract and aloe vera leaf extract to promote radiance and restore plump under eyes. Pro tip: I like to wear these eye masks under a regular sheet mask; and hey, throw a lip mask in there too. Triple hydration is the name of the game, lol.

Verdict

I thought this was a good month for the Ipsy Glam Bag! The absolute highlight for me were the Aceology eye masks. They did an incredible job of soothing my under eyes and giving me a perkier look than an ungodly early morning would normally allow. I’m thrilled to have the Hey Honey foot cream. I may be a tiny bit obsessed with caring for my feet, so this is just an added bonus. Glow Recipe’s Watermelon Glow highlighting serum is super versatile, which I appreciate, and I love incorporating it into my skincare routine, whether or not I’m wearing makeup that day. Beauty for Real’s liquid lip impressed me a lot, and while I likely won’t reach for it every day, this is a great product (and perfect shade) for me to have in my arsenal. Lastly, the IBY Beauty eyeshadow is a good quality shadow, and it came in a pretty color, too. Overall, I really enjoyed this month’s product curation, and while neither of the products seem overly ‘springy’ to me, I enjoy them nevertheless. However, I was surprised to see that the value for this month is quite underwhelming.

I really wish ipsy would make a bagless option for a sub. I really want to resub but don’t have any interest in gathering so many bags again. I literally just gave away so many

I received the exact same items as in this review. I never received Glow Recipe whenever it was offered in the larger bags so was very excited to get it in the smaller bag.
I switched to this smaller bag a few months ago and have been very happy. I usually like 4 of the 5 items so it’s always a win.

I got an old bag from over 2 years ago that I already have instead of this month’s bag. That was disappointing.

Yes! I got an older bag as well…not even one of the nicer older ones. Very disappointing 😞

Wow! I actually love your bag. Mine was a huge disappointment this month. None of the items you received were even offered in my choice. I was really hoping for the brush, but even it was not offered as my choice.

I’m so in love with the bag. Unfortunately I missed the deadline to get it, but I was able to redeem one for points. Hoping I’ll be able to get it in my next shipment!!🤞
