First Impressions

Open Envelope for Ipsy Glam Bag March 2022

Everything comes packaged snugly in the signature pink IPSY bubble mailer.

Included is a product card that either has a list of the products and any beauty tips.

Each month, Ipsy subscribers get a makeup bag in addition to their items. This month's theme was 'Power Moves.' I think this bag is super cute. I love how the cream strip on the front doubles as a handle.

Now, on to the items!

ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS Deluxe Brow Wiz in Dark Brown, 0.03 g - Estimated Retail Value $8.12

I’m a huge fan of brow products from Anastasia Beverly Hills, so I was pumped to see their Brow Wiz in this month’s bag. This eyebrow pencil has a unique wax formula that I really enjoy, and the ultra-fine, retractable tip makes it easy to take your eyebrow game to the next level. I appreciate the precision this pencil allows, and the texture once applied gives the appearance of a natural-looking brow. Plus, there is a spoolie on one end, hooray (always need a good spoolie). All in all, this is a fabulous product; it delivers a high color payoff, and there is no smudging. I did notice that there was some strange white residue on the tip of the product right out of the box. I’ve never seen that before, so I’m not sure what it is, but it didn’t seem to affect the color or performance of this pencil.

ARACELI BEAUTY Tequila Highlighter in Añejo, 1.8 g - Estimated Retail Value $5.40

Wow, this Araceli Beauty Tequila Highlighter is one of the smoothest highlighters ever, and the shade itself (Añejo) could not complement my skin tone more perfectly. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this product. The formula truly feels like butter, and it applies smoothly and evenly, whether with a brush or your finger. It certainly is buildable, and a little goes a long way, which I appreciate. I love the shimmer it provides. Something I found really interesting is the inclusion of agave oil in the product’s formula, and I imagine that’s the reason for the silky-smooth feeling to the touch, which I highly appreciate.

KINSHIP Supermelt Vegan Lip Jelly Mask, 5 ml - Estimated Retail Value $9.00

Lip masks have become my new obsession. I especially enjoy leave-on masks like this one. They seem to work far better on my lips than just plain chapstick or lip balm. I found this product to be incredibly hydrating: it addressed the chronic dryness my chapped lips tend to have from my high caffeine consumption and most likely the dehydrated state I walk around in all too often. The mask applied smoothly and felt wonderful on my lips. It left them feeling super soft, moisturized, and comfortable for hours. The product has a delicious scent that reminds me of a vanilla cupcake. It’s a little thicker than traditional lip balm, and it also gives a slight glossy look to my lips, which are both two things that I appreciate in a lip product. I also really like that it doesn’t leave behind any sticky or greasy texture.

FIRST AID BEAUTY Hydrating Eye Cream with Hyaluronic Acid, 3 ml - Estimated Retail Value $6.00

I love First Aid Beauty, but I have to say, this sample is absurdly small, lol. Despite that, this eye cream is an impressive little powerhouse, and in all fairness, since it is an eye cream, you can make it stretch a long way since you only need to apply a drop. Although I usually prefer a gel-based product when it comes to my eye cream, I love this brand, so I was more than happy to try it out. The cream itself seems to work well for me, without any irritation, and it has a very pleasant scent that reminds me of a honeydew melon. It absorbs quickly, leaving my under eyes feeling moisturized and refreshed after application. What especially caught my eye about this product is the unique formula, which includes hyaluronic acid, caffeine, cucumber extract, and colloidal oatmeal, helping to hydrate up to 24 hours, smooth fine lines and wrinkles, and reduce puffiness.

POLAAR The Genuine Lapland Hand Cream, 25 ml - Estimated Retail Value $8.16

I tend to be very picky about hand creams, especially when it comes to texture, but I have to say, I was very impressed with this cream. It’s incredibly effective, has a very nice texture, and doesn’t leave my hands feeling greasy. I love how quickly it absorbs into my skin so I don’t have to worry about the product transferring to my phone screen or keyboard when I'm at work. I also appreciate how delicate the fragrance is and how quickly it dissipates. I’m pretty sensitive to scent, so stronger smelling hand creams, especially anything overly sweet, has a tendency to give me a migraine. I was impressed by how gentle this cream is, too: with most creams, if they get into a paper cut, it’ll burn like crazy… but I’m happy to say, that isn’t the case with this cream from Polaar.

Verdict

My Ipsy Glam Bag this month had a wide array of products, which is something I really appreciate. I love when my Glam Bag isn’t just mostly makeup or skincare. The diversity of products makes the curation much more interesting to me. Kinship’s vegan jelly lip mask has such a delightful scent and leaves my lips feeling intensely hydrated, without any sticky or oily residue. I was also really impressed with the Polaar hand cream. It gave my hands such luxurious hydration but absorbed fully and super quickly, preventing product transfer onto my electronics at work. Though the sample is really small, I really like the formula of First Aid Beauty’s eye cream. I think the inclusion of caffeine really helped with any puffiness I have in the morning. The Anastasia Beverly Hills eyebrow pencil is a product that I’ve come to love. It’s become my go-to brow product, and I’m thrilled to have it in a travel size to stick in my on-the-go makeup bag. Lastly, I found the Araceli Beauty highlighter to have such a smooth, creamy texture and also an interesting formula, with the inclusion of agave, and I really like how the shade looks against my skin tone. Overall, I think this was a good bag! The diversity was there and kept me guessing, and most of the brands were well-known and high-end, so the value was definitely there.

I received several of the same products. My bag was different. It was a pinkish color and said “Discover.” I’m glad I didn’t get the “Power Moves” one.

My initial reaction was that all my samples were so tiny this month, just as you commented on the eye cream, which I also received but haven’t tried yet. I also received an itty bitty blush, the Kinship lip jelly, the Polaar hand cream, and COMPLEX CULTURE
Fresh Start Eyeshadow Palette.

So my reaction to the lip jelly was completely different from yours. Maybe mine has gone bad? Mine did not smell at all like vanilla cupcakes. The smell and taste were outright gross, and that is what I am writing in my review of the product on their page.

I did feel much the same as you do about the hand cream, though. Rich and thick but not greasy, and it did a nice job of making my hands soft and had no overpowering smell. Our office is supposed to be scent free, but I don’t think anyone will notice if I have this product here.

I received totally different items. I just cancelled I’d rather spend $13 a month on a full size product.

Yup. 13 for 5 samples is good if you are nee to the beauty world. But I’d rather save that money for products I need.
