First Impressions

The first thing I noticed was the magical imagery surrounding the beautiful woman sitting right on top of the box. It instantly put me in a springtime mood while serving up some serious ‘Alice in Wonderland’ vibes. This month's theme was 'Glossy Wonderland.'

Each month GlossyBox usually arrives with a booklet that includes a list of all the products included in that month's box.

What's Inside The Box

ESTATE COSMETICS Just a Taste Eyeshadow Palette in Peach Punch, 4.8 g - Retail Value $14

I love how spring-y the shades in this Estate Cosmetics palette are! Unfortunately, they seem to be a little too light for my skin tone, and I had a hard time getting the colors to show on my lids. I think a fair-skinned friend of mine will really enjoy these shades, so I will be passing on this lovely palette. They are perfect for the springtime. I especially like the pop of color from the lavender shade. I found the formula to be smooth and just a little bit creamy; definitely comfortable for all-day wear.

MERCI HANDY Hand Cream in Unicorn, 30 ml - Retail Value $7

I’ve only ever had the pleasure of experiencing hand sanitizer from Merci Handy, so this month’s inclusion of a hand cream from the brand was a surprise. The first thing I noticed about this product was the scent… It reminds me of a cross between cotton candy and bubblegum, all rolled into one. Although the scent might not be my favorite, personally, if you enjoy a sweetly scented cream, you’ll enjoy this. The quality of this product, however, is spot on. It has a creamy, very lightweight formula that almost melted into my skin, absorbing quickly, with absolutely zero greasy residue. After immediate application, my skin felt smooth and hydrated and not at all irritated. Oh, and bonus perk: something that makes this hand cream extra cute is the inclusion of a super-fine glitter, which leaves behind a nice highlight wherever you apply it.

FARM Rx Super Greens Cooling Gel, 90 ml - Retail Value $37

When I saw the spoilers for this product, I was super excited. I have to admit; they fooled me. I had thought ‘Avon’ was a new and exciting brand… I didn’t realize it was Avon, like what my best friend’s friend’s sister’s aunt used to sell. Now that I realize it is indeed the Avon of olde, I was a little skeptical because I don’t remember those products being considered particularly ‘high-end,’ and GlossyBox usually delivers products from such brands. I was pleasantly surprised. The product is a super lightweight gel that is water-based, which makes it perfect for my somewhat oily skin. I found it to be decently moisturizing, and it left my skin feeling soft. It has a nice, light smell that reminds me of cucumber water at a fancy resort. It did, however, leave a slightly sticky feel, but other than that, I found it to be a cooling moisturizer that left my skin looking refreshed.

MODELCO Highlighting Shimmer Whip in Champagne, 7 ml - Estimated Retail Value $14

I have fairly oily skin, so my face tends to eat any kind of liquid highlighters. This highlighter was no different; however, a stubborn subtle shimmer did outlast my thirsty skin in a truly impressive battle with sweat. The shade is very nice and works well with my skin tone. It blends nicely and looks effortlessly like a natural glow. It’s incredibly lightweight and glides on smoothly, making application a breeze. If liquid highlighter is something that works for you, this is definitely a solid option to create that luminous glow everyone’s after.

LUXIE 504 Rose Gold Large Angled Brush, Retail Value $21

Funny story… I believe this was supposed to be the Luxie 205 Tapered Blending Brush. When I originally unboxed, I was just reading from the booklet, and it said this brush is the ideal size to blend out transition shades in your crease, which I thought was strange, since the brush is quite large. So, I then attempted to use it while applying eyeshadow from the palette before I realized they definitely sent me the wrong brush. This is the Luxie 504 Large Angled Brush, which I have had the pleasure of using before. It’s a delightfully soft and fluffy brush that is perfect for applying powders, bronzers, and blush. The bristles are packed densely but not too densely, and I love the signature rose gold ferrule on top of the chic pink wooden handle. I find all Luxie brushes to not only be functional but also visually stunning and perfect for displaying on a vanity.

Verdict

I love the magical springtime vibes this month’s GlossyBox gave me. The Estate Cosmetics eyeshadow palette had such a wonderful combination of peachy spring shades, and I’m a little disappointed they didn’t work out for me. Avon’s cooling gel surprised me. I honestly didn’t expect it to be as good as it was, and I honestly didn’t know Avon still existed. But I really enjoy the gel texture and how quickly the product absorbs into my skin. It’s perfect for the warmer weather that is fast approaching. The ModelCo liquid highlighter creates a luminous glow on my skin that looks almost natural, and I really like the shimmery champagne shade. I’m obsessed with the Merci Handy unicorn hand cream. It has magical sparkles that shimmer throughout, and it also quickly absorbs and doesn’t leave my hands feeling like I just ate a bucket of KFC chicken. Lastly, the Luxie angled brush is just as soft and fluffy as I remember. I love how the density of the bristles is just right and how stunning the simplistic design is. Overall, I would say this was a great box. I love how well everything curated in the box fit the 'Glossy Wonderland' theme.

Lol you had me cracking up about trying to apply with the larger brush they sent by mistake 🙂

I just opened up my box and I surprisingly did not the Avon Farms RX even though it is listed in my booklet. I got Astaxanthin collagen all-in one gel. I know there are sometimes variations but I did not see this listed anywhere.
And I agree – the colors look lovely on your arm! My palette was a different combo and instead of purple, it has a gorgeous teal.

I also got the DHC collagen gel instead of the FarmRX gel and the large angled brush instead of the tapered. Was not expecting the variations either since there was no word about them LOL.

I got the same thing, very happy with the Astaxanthin!

Hi Naomi. Darn, that’s too bad about the eyeshadow palette. I think the colors look lovely on your arm though.

The way I use cream/liquid blush, highlighter, and bronzer/contour is layered under the powdered version. I find that it provides depth and complexity of color as well as adding longevity to wear time. Adding the powdered product on top of the liquid/cream product acts like a sealant, like a setting powder in itself.
