First Impressions

It has been a while since I've received a box from this company and I was surprised to see that this month only contained perfumes, although all of them were in a different form. I was eager to check them all out!

What's Inside This Box

We received this little card describing this month's theme of Winter Solstice and it gave us a breakdown of the four items inside.

"Winter Solstice" Perfume Oil Roller, 10 ml - Listed Value $20

I love the pretty gold top on this roller! This is a blend of orange pomander, blackberry, violet leaf, nectarine, honey oak, and musk. I got a strong hint of blackberry on the nose that was quite tart with faint whiffs of the floral violet and then a bit of sweetness from the citrus notes. The scent didn't last too long for me, nor was the throw very strong, but for those reasons, I think this makes a great scent for layering, or just to keep in your purse for refreshing your odor since it's not a scent that would compete too much if you had already applied something in the morning!

"Enlightenment" Perfume Spray, 1 oz - Listed Value $20

The perfume spray is usually the one that lasts the longest and has the biggest scent throw. This one is a blend of tuberose fleur, Indian jasmine absolute, saffron, cedarwood, and ambergris. This had a warm, but slightly musky scent that almost reads masculine, but then the floral notes of the jasmine come through to balance it out. I also definitely got the earthy spice of the saffron, and somehow it blended in beautifully with the other notes. It's really complex to me because I can smell the saffron, jasmine, and cedarwood separately, but also all at once. This one was really brought to life when I added some of the perfume roller with those tart blackberry notes!

"Falling Stars" Perfume Mist, 2 oz

This mist is like a lighter, more watered-down perfume spray since it doesn't have alcohol in it. The spray itself is light and refreshing and I feel like you could use a couple sprays without overdoing it. This is a blend of pineapple, balsam, cypress, ravensara, dark myrrh, cotton candy, dry woods, white musk, and ozone. It starts out sweet with the cotton candy and pineapple, but then it turned into a light, woodsy scent with a bit of a resiny smell from the myrrh. It actually smells like something I would want to diffuse throughout my house. It's very light as a perfume and not one that lasted very long, so another one that is perfect for a quick refresh or for layering.

"Sun Shower" Solid Perfume

I love that this solid perfume can be easily tossed into your bag for travel and the scent is probably my favorite of the bunch! It is a blend of yuzu, sweet orange, yellow daffodil, and palo santo, and it truly does remind me of a bright sunny day. Those bright notes from the yuzu just hit you right off the bat and then there is a slight hint of orange and the golden scent of the daffodil. Then you end on this very slightly musky note with the palo santo. Overall, it's just a great bright citrus scent that reads slightly woodsy when applied. This one lasted a while and I feel like the throw was decent, although not incredibly strong. It definitely evokes thoughts of sunshine though and is a great pick me up for these cold winter days that may not be ending just yet!

Value - Was This Box Worth It?

The Cost: $33.00 + free shipping (Save with longer subscriptions)

For just the perfume spray and the oil roller, the listed value comes to $59 which is already $26 over the cost of the box and that doesn't even take into account the other two items we received. I would say that makes this box a decent value, especially if you consider the average, which is about $8.25 for each of the 4 items!

Key Takeaways

The scents are so unique, the theme makes it fun, and I love that these can all be layered together for an even more complex scent! While I wasn't as keen on the idea of four different perfumes as opposed to the usual one or two different products they usually include, I was glad that each perfume was a different style, the solid perfume being my favorite this month!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

I came across this box a few months ago and fell in love. I particularly love that all the scents are very different, yet they still fit well within the theme. The first box I received was a “glamping” theme, and it was so perfect. And I know if I don’t like a scent, someone else will LOVE it.
I loved the solid perfume in this one, and I also agree with other comments about the usual variety of the box. Hopefully there’ll be a candle or good body oil in the Feb box! That would be fun.

Also, just as a comparison to Fortune Cookie Soap, these fragrances are less high-school and more luxury smelling. Don’t know how else to say it haha. Love FCS sometimes, but I love Wicked Good more.

So happy to see this box reviewed again and the timing is perfect. I’ve canceled Birchbox and was considering a new sub box along the lines of Fortune Cookie Soap since I love perfume.

I haven’t subscribed in awhile, but usually she includes a nice variety of products each month (2 perfumes and then 2 other products.) One of my favorite subscriptions!
