First Impressions

Laurel & Reed always arrives beautifully packaged and utterly giftable, though I doubt you will want to part with it!

There are always a few helpful info cards too!

Now, on to the items!

D'Still Rejuvenating Botanical Serum, 1oz - Retail Value $165

The first thing I noticed about this serum (other than that cute, chubby bottle) was the aroma of this golden formula. It is very heady and essential oil heavy which might be a turnoff for some. I must admit, even for me, it was strong. And I love strong scents. It might be wise to cut this with a cream if you are feeling overwhelmed by it. There is also a lot to unpack inside this ingredient list. The brand boasts  "a synergistic blend of 29 potent plant-based extracts" and these include Bakuchiol (a plant-based retinol alternative), Acmella Oleracea Extract (a plant described as a Botox alternative, but let's not get too crazy here), prickly pear seed oil, sea buckthorn oil, and loads more. Truly, there is a lot going on here, but I mean that in a good way. The point of this serum is to deeply moisturize and provide anti-aging benefits, which the ingredient list certainly suggests would happen over time. And, for the price, it should have a lot going on, IMO. And, for what it's worth, it feels great on and is somehow not super heavy. So, if you are an oil lover like I am, this is a welcome and exciting delivery.

NATURALLOGIC Unmask Detox Hydration Mask, 2oz - Retail Value $58.00

I first reviewed this mask back in October 2020:

It took me a few tries to fully appreciate this mask. I was a little put off by how thin and runny it was the first time I tried it out. This is a messy mask! But once I realized how it magically didn't dry me out, I was kind of hooked. Add to that all the delightful skin saviors inside? This is a winner. The black color comes from detoxing charcoal which is even more superpowered when combined with acne-fighting niacinamide, hydrating aloe, and loads of botanical antioxidants. This can totally be a treatment you use only on specific areas of your face too. It isn't often I come across a detox mask that feels like it was designed for drier skin, so I am pretty thrilled with this being included this month for those of us out there who have that dreadful combination of dryness + acne.

And my thoughts remain the same. I absolutely love this mask and I am thrilled to see it again. I applied it with a brush this time which helped with the messiness factor. And it still is a boon for those of us who are both drier and congested. Welcome back to my vanity!

Laurel & Reed Spa Headband - Listed Value $18.00

My final item was a really well-made and generously sized spa headband. I am so glad this fit around my head. Seriously, they sometimes don't and I feel embarrassed. This one should fit noggins up to around 24 inches in diameter!

Verdict

This Laurel & Reed was a welcome delivery for winter faces everywhere. And the value was great: $49.95 for $240+ of goodies. I can see the serum being a little strong for some, but I think the blend is great and it feels very nourishing and luxe. The black mask was like seeing an old friend again. I love it! And the headband actually fits? Heck yeah.

Value – Was This Box Worth It?

The Cost: $49.95/month + $6.95 shipping.

Each of the 3 items has an average cost of  $16.65.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

Don’t get me wrong, I liked the serum. I was expecting it to do a little more for my skin though considering the steep price of $165. I would never repurchase a serum like that.

I love this serum! The headband is super soft and feels luxe. A new mask is always welcome. Like you, I got it in a previous box and was really glad to see a replacement. This box comes through month after month. I have never received one that felt like a dud.
