First Impressions

Open Box for Bombay and Cedar Winter 2021 Lifestyle Box

The first thing I noticed was that this was the Winter 2021 Bombay & Cedar Lifestyle Box, which means we are all caught up. Hooray!

What's Inside The Box

The box arrives with a product card that lists the products and highlights some of the brands found within.

LYDIA D’MOCH Decorative Tile Art Kit - Retail Value $19.99

This is a really unique DIY kit. I’ve not seen something like this before. It looks like it would be really fun to paint these tile coasters. The kit comes with four ceramic tiles, six permanent markers, a pipette, a foam brush, sixteen felt feet, a clear coating, and a 48-page step-by-step instruction book. I’m not really a huge fan of DIY projects. I usually find that with the time and money that’s spent to complete such projects, I could have easily purchased the finished product three times over. But this is the kind of DIY I think I’d really have fun doing. It’s almost more of an art project, and these tile coasters feel sturdy and durable, so I know I’d be able to get some good use out of them. Whether or not they’ll be pretty enough to sit on my coffee table, that’s a whole different thing, lol.

SYMBIOSIS Enlightening and Exfoliating Cleansing Gel, 50 ml - Retail Value $76.00

I’m pretty familiar with the Symbiosis brand, so I’m excited to give this exfoliating cleansing gel a try. I never like to use the same cleanser for too long. I feel like my skin does better when it has a chance to reset between products. This cleanser has a gel texture, which I love, and it does a nice job of ridding my face of any excess oil, dirt, and makeup. The exfoliating properties within the formula helps to smooth wrinkles and soothe irritated skin. After application, this cleanser rinsed off nicely and left my skin feeling smooth, brightened, hydrated, and not at all stripped. The gel texture of the cleanser is a hit with me because of my sensitive skin. Cleansers with a heavier cream base sometimes cause me to break out. I’m happy to have this cleanser, and it’s a product that I’ll always need.

VERVE CULTURE Thai for Two Pad Thai Kit - Retail Value $15.00

I’m a foodie at heart, and I love any Asian or South Asian-inspired dishes. I love this Thai for Two cooking kit. It has everything you need to make a pad Thai dish, with the exception of olive oil, a protein, and fresh vegetables. This kit did not disappoint. The flavors were wonderful and comparable to what you might find in a Thai restaurant. It was pretty quick and easy to make. I will say that the serving size for two is a bit small, so you may want to add a little side dish to the meal. This is an incredibly simple way to experience authentic Thai food in your own home. The kit includes rice noodles, dried garlic and herbs, pad Thai sauce, ground peanuts, and ground hot chili. I also really appreciate that this kit is organic, gluten-free, and vegan. The adorable reusable canvas drawstring bag that holds all the ingredients is just a little added bonus.

DANICA NOW DESIGNS Artisan Bowls, Set of Two - Listed Value $24.00

I love, love, love bowls, in general. I always prefer to eat out of a bowl as opposed to a plate, and I especially like a nice, deep, big bowl, so the inclusion of this artisan bowl set is right up my alley. They are beautiful, hand-painted, durable bowls. What really impressed me was that they are both microwave and dishwasher safe. A lot of times hand-painted dishware needs to be hand washed and cannot go in the microwave, so that added convenience is a real plus. They are six inches wide and larger than most standard bowls, which I really like. They are the perfect size for soup, rice, or noodle dishes. Since they are a little bigger than average, there is more room for stirring, and it’s easier to avoid spills.

LINDO Detoxifying Foot Pads, 5-pair - Retail Value $8.99

This is another product that’s right up my alley. I love foot masks and other foot care-related items. These detoxifying foot pads are made from all-natural ingredients, and they adhere to the bottom soles of your feet to extract toxins while you sleep. It’s very interesting; the pads go from pink to a black after use. I’m not sure if it’s pulling whatever that black color is out of my body, but if so, I’m absolutely thankful that it is. I put on these detoxifying pads before I went to sleep and left them on my feet for about eight hours. They stayed pretty secure and were more than a little disgusting when I removed them. These detoxifying pads are said to promote healthy circulation and aid in supporting your immune system, while providing tension relief and increasing energy levels by removing toxins and impurities from the body through your feet. I’m definitely interested to see if using this product regularly has any effect on my energy levels and immune system.

HACHIKO Wireless Heating Pad and Massager - Retail Value $75.00

I’m really excited about this product! I have quite a bit of neck pain that leads to migraines, so I know I’ll get some good use from this item. It has three heat levels and three massage settings. The elastic band is adjustable, which is nice. The inside of the device that touches your body has soft padding, making it comfortable to wear, and it can be used for up to thirty minutes at a time. I found this product to heat up really well, and I really like the first massage setting. I think this will be really handy to use on my neck or lower back when I’m working at the computer for long stretches of time. I can also see this being really useful for period cramps. You can just snap it on like a fanny pack and go about your day while having a comforting heat and gentle massage on the go. The device itself is very lightweight, so it wouldn’t weigh you down at all. I really appreciate that this heating pad is wireless and rechargeable. This is something I never would have thought to purchase for myself but is going to end up being something I can’t live without.

THE SOI COMPANY Shimmer Candle in Rose Vanilla - Retail Value $32.00

I wouldn’t say that I’m a candle aficionado by any means, but this is a really great candle. It comes in a diamond-cut glass jar that is thick, heavy, and quality. It has a beautiful pink tint. The candle itself is double-wicked and made from 100% all-natural food-grade soy oil, so it burns cleaner and up to 40% longer than your traditional wax or soy blend candles. The scent is a very fragrant, delicious, warm vanilla with just a hint of underlining floral. It smells absolutely amazing and fills the whole room while creating a cozy yet sophisticated ambiance.

WELLY Human Repair Kit - Retail Value $5.99

I’m really loving the functional items this box seems to include. This Welly Human Repair Kit is a compact first aid kit that’s the perfect size to keep with you wherever life may lead. It includes thirty flex fabric bandages and twelve packets of single-use essentials, including triple antibiotic ointment, hydrocortisone anti-itch ointment, and hand sanitizer. What I love the most about this product is that it’s entirely customizable. You can always keep it stocked with whatever you might need. Plus, I really enjoy the aqua-colored tin that securely holds everything inside; it’s not only cute but also super useful. This is the perfect kit to pop in your car during a day trip, road trip, or any other kind of trip, and it’s small enough to bring along without weighing down your bag.

Verdict

I thought this was a very good Bombay & Cedar Lifestyle Box. I love the inclusion of a tech gadget: the Hachiko wireless heating pad and massager. It’s definitely something I will really enjoy using, and it’s a new, interesting take on your standard heating pad. I really like how the Verve Culture pad Thai kit and Danica Now Designs artisan bowls pair together so well in this curation. The pad Thai was a tasty delight to eat, and the colorful hand-painted bowls made it all the more fun. The Welly first aid kit is a functional, convenient item that I’m happy to have, and I’m sure it’ll come in handy when I least expect it. I was intrigued by the Lydia D’Moch tile kit. It’s definitely something different than I usually get in subscription boxes, and I’m excited to see what I can create. The Symbiosis cleansing gel was super gentle on my sensitive skin but also very efficient in its cleansing and exfoliating. Lindo’s detoxifying foot pads really did change color, pulling the toxins out through my feet, and I’m interested to try the product over a longer period of time to see what benefits it might have in store for me. Lastly, the Soi Company candle in Rose Vanilla… Stunning, high quality, and absolutely scrumptious-smelling. I can see it being a statement piece on the coffee table or bookcase. Overall, I really enjoyed this box. Each and every product was interesting and perfect for the season. This is one of the first Bombay & Cedar Lifestyle boxes where it felt like each product was curated specifically for the season.

If anyone is still swapping, I’m interested in a few things from this box. I haven’t seen much listed on the swap site yet.

They sent me the wrong customization (not what i picked) and now expect me to take the time to package the item up and send it back to them. Apparently you have to fix their mistakes for them.
