First Impressions

Each month, Nourish Beauty Box usually arrives with an info card that has a quick overview of the box on one side and more detailed information about the products included on the other. This month I did not receive a card.

Now, on to the items!

PEONY COSMETICS Sweet Pea Brightening Under Eye Priming Gel, 15 g - Retail Value $22.00

Oooh, an under eye gel! I religiously apply my daily skincare, particularly my eye creams in hopes of minimizing any puffiness and deterring the presence of fine lines. But I have never had the pleasure of trying an eye gel, so I was pleasantly surprised by this product and psyched to give it a try. This Peony Cosmetics Under Eye Priming Gel feels luxurious and provides a satisfying cooling experience, leaving your under eyes feeling refreshed and ready to take on the day. The gel texture is lightweight and not at all greasy. It absorbs quickly into my under eye skin and feels silky to the touch afterward. I really love how this gel brightens the delicate skin of my under eye. Although I’m not usually crazy about floral or sickly sweet scents, this gel actually smells quite pleasant. It’s not too overpowering and does not linger.

J&L NATURALS Growth Hair Serum in Orange and Clove, 30 ml - Retail Value $27.99

I’ve had the pleasure of using this hair serum before. In fact, this will be my third bottle. It has a natural, light orange and cedar scent that’s delightful and not overwhelming. The product leaves my hair feeling soft and looking shiny. I am able to see results of more hydrated hair after only a few uses. I also like that you can use the product on both wet and dry hair. Whenever I use it on my dry hair, it helps smooth and tame any frizz or flyaways I have. I also really appreciate that the product is 100% vegan, gluten-free, cruelty-free, and preservative-free. There are no sneaky chemicals or alcohol hiding in the ingredient list. The packaging is also sustainable and 100% plastic-free.

NOURISH NATURALS Glance Eyeshadow Duo, 3 g - Retail Value $12.50

Another Nourish Naturals product, but this time it’s an eyeshadow duo! This is the first time I’ve ever received an eyeshadow from the brand, so I was pumped to give it a try. This duo features a pretty golden shimmer, perfectly complemented by a vivid brown shimmer. I really love the color combination of this duo, and I was impressed by how smoothly it applied to my lids. Both shades are buildable and easily blendable. When I applied this eyeshadow duo, I used the golden shade to accentuate the corners of my eyes and then blended that in with the brown shimmer to create a stunning look that also looked natural. Although the duo is quite small, this will last me a long time, and I’m really happy to add this high-quality product to my eyeshadow collection.

NOURISH NATURALS Creamy Lip and Cheek Stain in Nude Rose, 2 g - Retail Value $22.00

I’ve received this product in various shades before. It’s Nourish Beauty’s current signature product that’s included in every month’s box. This ‘Nude Rose’ stain is a multi-purpose item, acting as both a cheek and a lip stain. I’m not the biggest fan of multi-use items, but this stain is nice for a little pop of color in the lip department. It’s a very pretty peach-ish/pink-toned shade, and it leaves behind a natural-looking flush, which I appreciate. The formula of this stain is buildable, making it easy to take from natural to dramatic in a few moments. I also enjoy how hydrating it feels on my lips instead of drying them out. As a cheek stain, this product doesn’t really work for me. My skin is a bit more on the oily side, so the stain tends to slide off rather quickly. But as a lip tint, I don’t hate it, although a built-in applicator of some form would be nice (and more sanitary).

Verdict

I thought this was a great month for the Nourish Beauty Box! I enjoyed the array of products included and even had the chance to try two new-to-me products. Peony Cosmetics’ under eye priming gel was a winner for me, and I really enjoyed the cooling texture of the gel and the silky smooth feeling it left behind. The eyeshadow duo by Nourish Naturals has a nice combo of shades that makes it simple to create a natural yet sophisticated look. I love J&L Naturals’ growth hair serum and how soft and shiny it leaves my hair. Lastly, the Nourish Naturals lip and cheek stain in Nude Rose, a natural-looking peach shade. While not the first thing I’ll grab, it’s a great size to toss in my purse for a last-minute pop of color every now and then. Overall, I loved this month’s curation of products, and the value is there.

Thank you, Naomi!

That lip and cheek stain is a pretty color. It doesn’t look as dark in the swatch.

I canceled my February box because I don’t want to get the same item every month but in different colors. I agree – this product needs a better application system. I had it all over my fingers when I used last month’s shade.
I really like the way you described the eye gel. It sounds great. I just have so many eye products already. 😕

Melissa

I agree that swatches would be helpful. That lip and cheek stain definitely does not look “peach” in the photo. It looks pretty dark and brownish-red.
