Hello Fresh vs Freshly

POV: You’re searching for the right meal subscription service but can’t decide on whether you want to cook your meals from scratch or sign-up to receive pre-made meal kits. You like HelloFresh as well as Freshly but need to make a final decision on which one is right for you.

You want the most cost-effective plan … HelloFresh

Other than the minimum order, HelloFresh’s subscription plans are more cost-effective than Freshly’s. If you compare them side by side, you’ll see that you can order 6, 8, 10, or 12 meals from HelloFresh for $65.93, $80.91, $93.89, and $104.87 respectively. In comparison, ordering the same number of meals from Freshly costs $66.93, $84.91, $103.89, and $119.87.

If you’re eating on the go … Freshly

Despite HelloFresh’s meals only requiring 15-45 minutes to complete, Freshly’s meals are ready-made and only require heating. If you have little to no time to cook throughout the week, then Freshly offers a better meal subscription for your needs.

If you want more options for types of meals … HelloFresh

HelloFresh offers 6 types of meals: meat & veggies, veggie, family-friendly, fit & wholesome, quick and easy, and pescatarian. Freshly, on the other hand, only offers 4: purely plant, signature collection, freshly fit, and protein and sides.

By offering more types of meals, there’s a better chance that HelloFresh’s weekly menu contains more options that are compatible with your diet and that there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

If you need your meals to be gluten-free … Freshly

One major perk to using Freshly is that customers can select gluten-free meals, whereas HelloFresh does not offer the option to tailor your plan for specific allergies. The majority of Freshly’s meals are gluten-free and prepared in a certified gluten-free safe spot.

If you’re pescatarian or want sustainably-sourced seafood … HelloFresh

HelloFresh has options for both wild-caught and farm-raised fish and offers several choices each week for seafood. The company has partnered with Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch and some of its seafood products have additional sustainability certifications such as MSC (Marine Stewardship Council) for wild-caught and BAP (Best Aquaculture Practices) for farm-raised.

In comparison, Freshly rarely offers seafood items and there’s no mention of where and how they source their fish.

If you enjoy cooking and want to learn new recipes … HelloFresh

Finally, the most enjoyable aspect of selecting HelloFresh is that you get to learn new recipes and can choose from over 25 different recipes each and every week. All of HelloFresh’s meals are designed by professional chefs and nutritionists and come with step-by-step directions and fresh, pre-portioned ingredients.

Ultimate Winner: HelloFreshl

Although Freshly is a great choice for people who are on the go or who need gluten-free meals, HelloFresh outcompetes it in every other area. Between its affordable prices, availability of options for meals, and allowing customers to craft their own masterpieces, HelloFresh provides a better culinary experience and offers more choices for a wider variety of diets and lifestyles.
