First Impressions

As always, the box arrives beautifully packaged in typical white and red Allure fashion!

There was also a helpful mini-magazine with more info on the products.

Now, on to the items!

Rare Beauty Perfect Strokes Universal Volumizing Mascara, 13.5 mL - Retail Value $20 (Full Size!)

This is a newer launch from Sunday Riley and one I had wanted to try. The main things I want from an eye cream are brightening, fine-line fighting, and moisturizing, and this one is built to deliver with goodies like niacinamide, retinol, and ceramides. And, my favorite little healing plant Centella AKA cica makes an appearance too. The texture is light but velvety, and you don't need much of this stuff to get the job done. The applicator makes it easy to apply to your skin then gently tap into your skin with your ring finger. I am excited to use this long-term and see how I like it, but immediately I can report smoother skin and immediate moisturization.

Christophe Robin Daily Hair Cream with Sandalwood, 100 mL - Retail Value $32 (Full Size!)

Renewing Members will receive either Christophe Robin Daily Hair Cream with Sandalwood OR Hydrating Leave-In Hair Mist with Aloe Vera based on their membership history and will not receive the same item twice.

This isn't my first rodeo with this product and though I am reviewing a box built for a new subscriber, I am always happy to see a tube of this goodness again. First, the smell. Divine. Woodsy, masculine, sexy. A+. Use is easy too, even for a lazy hair gal like me. I like to put a dime-size amount in my palm then apply to towel-dried hair to give it a nice sheen and define my waves. It is also light enough to use on dry hair without weighing it down and I love the healthy vibes my hair seems to radiate when I use it.

L'Occitane Immortelle Overnight Reset Oil-in-Serum, 5 mL – Estimated Value $10.67 (buy a full size 30 mL for $64.00)

Renewing Members will receive either L'Occitane Immortelle Overnight Reset Oil-in-Serum, L'Occitane Almond Shower Oil, Caudalie Vinosource S.O.S Thirst-Quenching Serum, OR Kneipp Dream Away Bath Salts based on their membership history and will not receive the same item twice.

I still love and remember this serum from my January 2021 review:

I absolutely loved this serum. First, the little yellow blobs floating inside remind me of boba tea! Which makes me smile. I know that isn't skincare related, but I thought it was worth mentioning. Anyway, those little orbs hold nourishing oils from Immortelle which is a Mediterranean flower from the daisy family known for holding its cheery yellow color even when dried. There is also meadowfoam seed oil in here which is a wonderful smoother and full of antioxidants and vitamin E. Another strong selling point for me here was the texture. If you aren't into serums because they make your face feel filmy, this one might convince you. It feels like a light gel when you apply but absorbs in a snap, leaving nothing but hydration behind. This serum does have added fragrance, but, heck, it smells great and scent is one of the things I will happily overlook if it's a good one.

SkinMedica Instant Eye Bright Mask - Estimated Value $8.00 (buy 6 pairs for $48)

Renewing Members will receive either SkinMedica Instant Eye Bright Mask OR Bliss Bright Idea Eyes Holographic Foil Eye Patches based on their membership history and will not receive the same item twice.

I know eye patches aren't a super high-value or even super-exciting thing, but I always smile when I get a set, right before I toss them in the fridge. It's just such an easy way to feel good. No mess, instant gratification, and a nice relaxing treat. These are gel on one side and fabric on the other and the cooling effect happens upon impact and the antioxidant boost is great for under the eyes.

Solaana MD Healthy Base Layer, 15 mL - Estimated Value $5.70 (buy 120 mL for $54.00)

This is a coconut oil-based moisturizer, so if you are avoiding that ingredient on your face (it is comedogenic) keep this for the rest of your body instead. I felt pretty 'meh' about this stuff. It was moisturizing and felt fine, but that was about it for me. The idea behind the formulation is to give skin a vitamin D boost without the need for sun exposure. It also has hyaluronic acid and aloe inside.

New Member Gift:

Kaja Beauty Bento Bouncy Shimmer Eyeshadow Trio in 'Chocolate Dahlia' - Retail Value $23

This is a bonus gift for new subscribers! Older subscribers will remember this from the October 2021 box:

In addition to being adorable, this little trio of eyeshadows couldn't be easier to just, well, wear. The shades are soft and smooth, with two matte brown shades and a shimmering champagne. The lighter brown is a great all-over lid shade that you can accent with the darker in your crease then highlight in the center of your lid with the shimmer. I feel like this trio will please shadow minimalists (like myself) and also be useful to those who like a little more drama because the shades are very buildable. They apply as easily with a finger as they do a brush and the compact size of this set makes it perfect for your purse.

Verdict

I was really feeling this month's Allure box. The mascara, eye serum, and hair cream were incredible and alone make the box more than worth the cost, easily. The other items were also really fun, aside from the last cream which I didn't care too much for. The overall value of $141.37 is also pretty marvelous for a $23 box!

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I loved the Solaana MD cream in my allure beauty box so much. I have never heard of a cream with vitamin D in it before but honestly it’s genius and it actually hasn’t made me break out at all. I love the scent too. Such an awesome find!

Omg I’m so glad I read this comment because I’ve been using that as a hand cream! I have no idea why I got the idea that’s what it was for.

I really like the Rare Beauty mascara too. I had just finished up a Tarte mascara before this one arrived, so the timing was great to try it. And I’m impressed. I also like the SR eye serum and the L’Occitane shower oil. Haven’t tried the other products yet, but I’m happy with this box.

I picked this one up because I was curious about the Christophe Robin spray-on and buying the box was cheaper than buying just the spray.

I had gotten the Immortelle serum in a past box, and I’m using it right now. It’s nice but unremarkable. I tend to use a lot, so the sample size is only good for a few weeks.

If you have fine hair, the Christophe Robin cream is a bit heavy, so only use a little.

I had gotten the SkinMedica patches also in a past box and was completely underwhelmed by them. I was glad the Amazon box had the other ones.

It’s a pretty good box for the price, but I still think $23 is a bit steep. I also liked the old red boxes better.

Allure is currently my favorite beauty box. I’ve really enjoyed the last three boxes.

I didn’t skip this box and I am so glad. Liked everything I got. My Amazon box had different Cristophe Robin product(which I adore by the way) and different eye patches and I got almond oil bath gel for my l’occitane product. Overall I am happy. Lets see if I like next box enough not to skip 2 in a row.

Thanks for your review! My box is on its way and I hope I’ll get the other CR product to try it out. Thanks for the heads up about the coconut oil…I guess for me the lotion will be a new hand cream;)
