First Impressions

My package arrived in typical purple bag fanfare.

Recently, I discovered that Adore Me has a few sub-lines. And this month I did a deeper dive! Seriously, there are some cool hidden gems on this site, you just have to check out the brand page where they have everything from a period panty line, athletic wear, cooling undergarments, maternity wear, and even a SKIMS sort of brand called Nueskin, which we will be looking into this month.

I have never ordered anything from SKIMS but I find the simple designs and color palettes really appealing. Regardless of how you feel about the founder, Kim Kardashian, it is hard to dislike basics that somehow feel, well, really cool. And clean, minimal pieces aren't exactly what Adore Me is known for, so this seemed like a great line to dive into!

I selected two bras:

Tania Unlined Plus in 'Purple' - Retail Value $39.95 ($29.95 for VIP Members)

This style reminds me a lot of the SKIMS Cotton Plunge Bralette. Heck, I even ordered the same purple shade I have almost bought from SKIMS multiple times. The design is SO similar! And I actually loved the look from the front, though my gals seem to be the sort that like to hang out closer together than a bra of this style allows. My normally unruly right breast seemed to want to come out of the cup a lot here if I moved around, though that is super normal behavior for that particular part of my body. I also think the overall style might be less flattering some someone (like myself) who has a softer sort of back. The thin elastic strap kind of made me feel like a twine-wrapped ham.

These complaints are really based on my preferences. The construction here was so much nicer than I expected and the inside is actually lined with a structured mesh (just like the SKIMS version!). If this is the sort of bra style you already know and love, I highly recommend it. If you need a wider band or have boobs that are more center-set, this might not be for you.

Olympia Unlined Plus in 'Beige' - Retail Value $39.95 ($29.95 for VIP Members)

I grabbed this style because it reminded me of the SKIMS Mesh Scoop Bralette, another style I have added to my SKIMS cart then abandoned quite a few times. I really love a sheer and unlined bralette! I never like to add extra volume to my bustline but I like even my simple styles to be a little sexy. And this bra delivers! I actually loved the fit and found the mesh supportive but also soft. I even wore it to the gym a few times and as long as you aren't doing a ton of high-intensity moves, this is a viable and breathable option, IMO.

The double-layered mesh adds support but still is super sheer and flirty. The straps are also convertible which was a thoughtful addition that adds versatility. I feel like anyone would love this bra.

A Note on Fit

I ordered both pieces in a 1X. I currently wear a 36G and an L/XL in most tops. I felt like both of these ran a little small and my gut says that if you are stuck  between sizes, size up unless you want little boob muffin tops. Just my 2 cents!

My Verdict

I am thinking that Adore Me has a very viable alternative to SKIMS. Again, I have never bought anything from that brand, but the vibes and pricing are super similar. The soft colors here (in numerous pastels and a range of nudes) make this line feel elevated and chic while still being sexy. In fact, the only thing I really dislike about this Adore Me sister brand is the name: Nuskin, which... kind of sounds like something you would buy in an adult mart. Luckily, bold branding isn't a theme here, so this is easy to overlook. I really liked both of these pieces (even if one wasn't ideal for my specific bosom!) and think it is absolutely worth a peek for anyone who has almost bought anything from SKIMS but then ended up changing their minds.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

“Little boob muffin tops” 😂

This is where I’m at. After a little bit of weight gain, my bras are all too small and I’ve got the double bubble thing happening. I love your reviews and these simple but pretty bras are very much my style. I might be giving this sub a try soon!

What a fantastic review, Megan, and you had me laughing out loud in a few spots, especially this: “The thin elastic strap kind of made me feel like a twine-wrapped ham.”

I’m all about support so neither of these would work for me but loved reading your review – thanks!

Haha I have to have some humor with a bra review! I will say that the mesh was surprisingly supportive. Just not for like… jump roping or burpees, which only crazy people do anyways 😉
