First Impressions

Each month, Nourish Beauty Box usually arrives with an info card that has a quick overview of the box on one side and more detailed information about the products included on the other. This month I did not receive a card.

Now, on to the items!

AIMI REPAIR Chamomile Hyaluronic Acid Serum, 30 ml - Retail Value $68

This brand is a new one to me. I’m happy to be able to try out one of their products. This serum has a delicate pink tint to it and a powerful scent. The scent is almost spa-like but a bit more overpowering than I prefer for a product that goes on my face. I love the applicator of this serum. Any products that come in this easy-to-use and convenient packaging beat out dropper bottles in my book. When I applied this serum to my face, it was immediately hydrating and felt extra nice on the areas of my face that needed a little extra moisture. It left no greasy feeling behind, and it absorbed quickly into my skin. I noticed a difference in my skin after applying, especially in regard to the texture. My face felt more smooth, soft, and supple than it had before. The only downside for me is the potent scent. It’s an enjoyable scent but it lingers a bit longer than I would like. So, although I very much enjoy the way this makes my skin feel, I will likely be passing this serum along to a friend of mine who will appreciate the potency of the scent much more than I will. If your skin is in need of some extra hydration, I do recommend giving this product a try.

SERAPHINE BOTANICALS Strawberry + Rose Firming & Brightening Toning Spritz, 30 ml - Retail Value $42

I’m familiar with the Seraphine Botanicals brand but this spray toner really took me by surprise. The first thing I noticed was the mesmerizing red hue of this toner. I’ve never before seen any kind of product, whether a serum, toner, or otherwise, in such a vibrant color, and I’m a sucker for anything new and exciting. I applied this spritz to my face immediately after cleansing, before applying my serums and moisturizer, and I have to say, the power of the spray applicator impressed me. After just two spritzes, my entire face was covered. The scent of the product is definitely more strawberry than rose, which is a plus for me because I’m not a huge fan of rose-scented products. The scent does dissipate quickly, and the spritz itself feels very refreshing. One thing I noticed is that this toner felt slightly heavier than others I’ve used. It left my skin feeling slightly oily at first but once absorbed, it left my face hydrated and buoyant. Since this toner is supposed to firm and brighten, I’m interested to watch for any long-term results over time.

RAIN ORGANICA Meadowfoam and Fog Roll-on Hand and Body Oil in Halcyon, 10 ml - Retail Value $14

Wow, this is an incredibly innovative product. I’ve never seen an oil that comes in roll-on form that is also safe to be used on skin. The scent of this product is very natural, featuring a light blend of chamomile, lavender, and cardamom. Now, although this is considered a body oil, I’d consider this as more of a hydrating spot treatment. When I applied the product, it didn’t feel overly greasy or oily and was fast absorbing. It didn’t irritate my skin and the scent dissipated quickly. I have an eczema patch on my shoulder that tends to flare up every time I venture out into the frigid New York weather, and this little guy is perfect for treating it. The rollerball applicator is a big plus for me because it means less product waste than usual when I’m blindly trying to deliver some moisture to my eczema patch. Maybe next time I travel to one of the colder states, I’ll remember to bring this compact product along with me to preemptively squash any potential eczema resurgence. I’m really enjoying this product and hope that long-term application will show some great progress, and if so, I definitely plan to repurchase in the future.

NOURISH NATURALS Creamy Vegan Stain in Sangria, 2 g - Retail Value $22

I’ve received various shades of this product from Nourish Beauty Box. It’s their current ‘signature product’ for the time being. This stain is interesting because it’s a two-in-one; both a cheek and a lip stain. Some people might like that feature while others might not. The shade itself is a pretty magenta. It leaves behind a natural-looking flush that can easily become more dramatic if desired. Since this product is buildable, it makes the shade versatile enough to create a variety of looks. Now, this isn’t something I’m likely to reach for too often, despite my love of the shade. Mostly because I prefer lip products that come with a built-in applicator and don't require me to stick my finger into the same product over and over. As a cheek stain, it doesn’t really work for me. It may be because my skin is on the slightly more oily side, and the stain seems to slide right off or be absorbed into my skin. That said, it’s a solid product and would likely be a hit for those interested in dual-purpose products.

Verdict

This month’s Nourish Beauty Box offered up a nice array of products, and bonus points, it gave me the chance to try out a new-to-me brand. I’m a huge fan of the Rain Organica roll-on body oil. Super excited to see the kind of difference it makes to some of the drier yet sensitive patches of my skin. The Seraphine Botanicals toning spritz was a pleasant surprise, thanks to its powerful spray applicator, not to mention the stunning color of the product itself. AIMI Repair’s facial serum, despite being too overly scented for me, is a solid product for moisturization and leaves skin feeling smoother than before. Lastly, the Nourish Naturals creamy vegan stain. The color itself is beautiful, and while it won’t likely be the first product I’d reach for, it’s definitely something I’ll keep in my arsenal for when I’m feeling like creating a slightly more dramatic look for myself. Overall, I was very happy with this month’s box, and it offered an impressive value with a good selection of products.
