First Impressions

Sea turtles and race cars seemed like perfect themes for my kiddos this month! We were eager to read the stories upon opening them!

Inside the Lillypost November 2021 Box

Lillypost always sends us a set of Finnley the Fox stickers along with a little note that introduces their coloring contest for the month. Kids can draw directly on the box and incorporate Finnley into the monthly theme, then share it on social media for a chance to win a prize. This month they shared some fun facts about music!

Peek-a-Boo Treetop Friends by Susie Brooks - Retail Value $12.95 (found here for $5.99)

This book is probably a bit too young for my children, but they still loved it with all of the colorful illustrations, adorable animals, and a few different textures throughout. The story itself was simple with instructions for the kids like "pat their fur" or asking them "who will we see?" making it a great interactive book to read to baby and a fun way to get some tactile play in! I know our next baby will love it when he is old enough.

Sock on the Loose by Conor McGlaufin - Retail Value $18.99 (found here for $16.99)

I love the concept of this book, I mean everyone has socks that go missing, and sometimes they do come back, but this book is a fun little story about where the socks might go when they are missing from your drawer. I loved the beautiful watercolor illustrations and while it was a cute book, it didn't flow as well for me as I would have liked and it didn't grab my five-year-old's attention the way stories normally do. We might have to give it another read and see what we think again, especially after seeing what great reviews people are giving it!

The Christmas Extravaganza Hotel by Tracey Corderoy - Retail Value $16.99

My kids are ready for the holidays and winter and snow, so this book was an exciting one to receive. I really loved this story, which was quite a bit lengthier than our other books, but it had a lot of interesting things going on and wonderful illustrations to support our story. Frog has seen a pamphlet for the Christmas Extravaganza and he shows up at Bear's house expecting one, but they soon realize he read his map upside down and has ended up in the wrong place. Bear decides to do his best to show him a good time and while it wasn't quite what he was expecting, Frog finds that sometimes things can be even better than what you planned for! I think it was a nice story about disappointment and expectations, and there can definitely be a great lesson in there for kids about appreciating what you have and not letting those expectations ruin your experiences. Plus, it's just a fun Christmas book!

Just an FYI - we opt to receive the seasonal books from Lillypost, but if you prefer to leave them out of your shipments, you have that option!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!
