My Subscription Life: Becca

My Subscription Life is a new series designed to help you get to know the MSA team a little bit better. Each profile introduces a different member of the team, showcases their favorite subscriptions, and explores how subscriptions impact their lives.

Hello, and welcome to this edition of My Subscription Life! This week, I'm speaking with Becca, a Minnesota-based writer who reviews Little Passports, Fabletics, Sketchbox, and and many other boxes for MSA. You may have caught her reviews of Universal Yums, where she tastes treats around the world with the help of her family. (It's one of the reviews I personally look forward to most each month!) I talked with Becca about her favorite subscriptions, most-loved subscription box items, and more.

Here's a peek into Becca's subscription life!

My Subscription Life: Becca

Lindsey: Hi, Becca, thanks for taking some time to talk about your subscription life! Let's start at the beginning: when and how did you first discover subscriptions?

Becca: I discovered subscriptions back in 2015. During a night-time rock sesh with my ultra fussy newborn, I came across an ad for Julep Maven and immediately subscribed, commencing my subscription addiction.

L: Which subscriptions do you receive currently?

B: I tend to bounce around a bit, but currently I am subscribed to Universal Yums, Little Passports, Fabletics, Walmart Beauty, Sock Panda, Macy's Beauty Box, Vine Oh, SketchBox, and FabFitFun.

L: Do you have a favorite subscription?

B: This is a tough one... I love them all, but was recently extra impressed with my FabFitFun box. The Coach necklace and earring set was spot on for me!

L: If you could only subscribe to one box or service, which would it be? Why?

B: Eeek! I can't choose! Universal Yums is super fun because it's an experience I can share with my entire family. Vine Oh! is amazing because I love me some Moscato, but FabFitFun is just such a great deal!

L: Describe your perfect subscription.

B: I am all about boxes that are well rounded. Something with snacks, drinks, lifestyle items, beauty items, and maybe a fun game would be cool, especially if it was themed! I'm all about a good curation and incorporating the entire family.

L: Which subscription categories (beauty, food, geek, etc.) do you enjoy most and why?

B: Another toughie! I think because I started with beauty subscriptions boxes that is where my heart is truly at. I love experimenting with new looks and trying new products, making beauty boxes right up my alley.

L: Which subscription item(s) that you’ve received in the past is the most memorable? Why did it make such an impact on you?

B: Last year my grandma passed away, and I was subscribed to the Confetti Grace craft box. One of the projects included all of the necessary supplies to make a wooden pumpkin sign. Instead of using the included fabric to apply to my pumpkin, I used part of my grandmas favorite flannel shirt to customize it. It turned out so well that I ended up making one for our entire family. This made an impact because it gave me the tools and instructions to create a fun project, all the while adding my own twist that really has kept my grandma's memory alive.

L: People gravitate to subscriptions for different reasons. What are your primary reasons for subscribing?

B: I am all about the deals and I am all about surprises - I just can't wait to rip that box open!

L: If someone offered you the opportunity to curate your own subscription box, what would you send out to your subscribers?

B: I am a mega gardener/canner and crafter, so I could see myself doing something along the lines of a snack and craft type of box. Homemade raspberry jam with a coordinating craft sounds like something I would send... adding a scented candle in the box for good measure!

Thank you so much to Becca for taking the time to sit down and talk about her subscription life.
