BoxyCharm Premium is a full-size beauty and makeup subscription box. They always provide a great value compared to the cost of the box. The box costs $35 per month and features 6-7 beauty items that include nail care, skincare, makeup, haircare, fragrance, and more. (If you are a makeup addict - we recommend this box!)

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)

First Impressions

Everything arrived in our regular black box with a card detailing the items included.

Now, on to the items!

Benefit Cosmetics Georgia Blush, 8 g - Retail Value $30

Ok, anyone else out there used to swear by the original Georgia? I loved basically all of the Benefit boxed powders but Georgia and Dandelion have always been my favorites. When they retired Georgia, I was pretty devastated. It looks like she is back but in a new shimmering finish! First things first: this has never been a dramatic blush, old or new. It is more of a natural peachy flush that is super sheer. If you approach it with that in mind, it is easy to love. If you open this box and expect a ton of color payoff? Not going to happen. That remains true for old Georgia and new Georgia. This new formula has in a really natural glow, creating a blush+highlighter effect you could honestly use all over your face. It has a fun peach scent and comes with a brush, though I have never found these Benefit box brushes to be worth using. Stick to your fave big fluffy brush instead.

111SKIN Energizing Essence, 100 mL - Retail Value $100

Meh, 111Skin makes another appearance. I know most of us have feelings about this and I get it. I am a hard person to woo back and 111Skin will never be a brand I get truly pumped over. That being said, the ingredients here are nice: aloe, hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, and more. And the application is pleasant, just apply the watery solution with a cotton ball. It does indeed make my skin feel pretty nice, but I wouldn't say it made it feel SO nice that it would make me love this brand or that $100 price tag. Also worth noting: it smells really nice.

Voir Secrets in the Snow: Soft Styling Foam, 160 mL - Retail Value $22

Even though I am not a mousse user, it was pretty easy to enjoy this stuff. It has a great smell and I love that it isn't an aerosol formula. I applied it generously to damp hair and finger scrunched my waves. Whenever I am actually paying attention to my hair (a rarity), my focus is always on defining my loose waves and adding volume, and this stuff did a great job. I did find that it only lasted a day because the hold is rather light, but I was still impressed. It has a smell that I really can't place (the brand describes it as "pear, jasmine and rose rounded out with a hint of amber and a sweet musky base") and I liked it very much!

Róen vowBrow Pencil in 'Medium', 0.09 g - Retail Value $26

I like this brand but this pencil was a flop for me. The tip is TINY which makes it great for individual hair flicks, but not so much if you expect it to last for a few months. I always appreciate a built-in spoolie too, but I couldn't get past how hard the texture of the product was. It felt scratchy against my skin (wrist and brow) and just wasn't pleasant to use. I did think the medium shade was a great match for me, but that is about as positive as I get here.

tarte Maneater Plumping Gloss in 'Buff', 3 mL - Retail Value $19

I was scared this would be another nude shade lippie bust, but this "Buff" shade is actually the most gorgeous natural pink. It adds just enough to my lips to make even a bare-faced Megan look put together. I have full lips but I also still enjoy plumpers and this one has a cool tingle that is much milder than many similar products out there while still adding volume. And the glossy finish is to die for!

Dew of the Gods Filla Collagen Undereye Pads, 10 pairs - Retail Value $20

My final item is a set of 10 eye patches in a very cute tin. So, I looked up this brand, and apparently, they have a monk bless their products, which feel really specific?

Filla is blessed by a zen Buddhist monk to inspire the power of gratitude. During the 30 minutes of your session, unearth thoughts of thankfulness to the people, power and planet that have brought you to this moment in time. Celebrate the words "thank you" with a full heart and happy skin.

I mean, a blessing isn't necessary for my beauty products, but also this is really unique. Blessing or no blessing, I liked these a lot! They are a white fabric sort of material on one side then a pink collagen gel on the other. They stick really well to the skin (no sliding here!) and do a great job of hydrating and firming under my eyes. The cooling effect also de-puffs my sleepless eyes which is great for me right now because we just adopted another dog and night-time crate training might kill me.

Verdict

The total value of my BoxyCharm Premium box was $217 which is a great value for a $35 box. The contents were a little hit or miss this month and you could also argue that the (overpriced, IMO) 111SKIN essence takes a huge chunk of that value. Even without it though, there is still plenty of goodies to make this box feel worth its cost. My favorites were the Tarte gloss, the eye patches, and the Georgia blush, which I am still wildly in love with. Just those three items have a retail value of $69 which is still about double the cost of the subscription.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.
