First Impressions

As always, the box arrives beautifully packaged in typical white and red Allure fashion!

There was also the helpful mini-magazine with more info on the products.

Now, on to the items!

Boscia 0.6% Pro-Retinol Repair + Renew Waterless Advanced Treatment, 1 fl oz – Retail Value $48.00 (Full Size!)

In addition to being adorable, this little trio of eyeshadows couldn’t be easier to just, well, wear. The shades are soft and smooth, with two matte brown shades and a shimmering champagne. The lighter brown is a great all-over lid shade that you can accent with the darker in your crease then highlight in the center of your lid with the shimmer. I feel like this trio will please shadow minimalists (like myself) and also be useful to those who like a little more drama because the shades are very buildable. They apply as easily with a finger as they do a brush and the compact size of this set makes it perfect for your purse.

WHISH Champagne Lip Balm with Bakuchiol, 15 mL – Retail Value $20.00 (Full Size!)

I am not often a huge fan of Whish, but there is something about this tube that I like. The scent is really nostalgic and reminds me of the glosses I used to wear as a kid. It is sugary sweet and strong! And I would be lying if it didn’t make me smile a little when I apply this stuff! The formula is a lot more grown-up than those sticky glosses of my youth and it features anti-aging Bakuchiol, shea, vitamin E, and more. It applies with a thinner feel and adds a nice bit of shine.

NatureLab Tokyo Repair Leave-In Treatment, 1 fl oz – Estimated Value $3.47 (buy a full size 4.9 fl oz for $17.00)

NatureLab Tokyo is one of my favorite affordable hair brands, though I have to admit this stuff didn’t really do anything for my hair. A little background: I have very thick coarse hair. It has a 2B wave/curl and generally feels a lot like straw on most days. This stuff is probably geared more towards fine or medium hair. The nozzle creates a foam that you can then apply to damp/towel-dried hair and it should give you softness and shine, though all I noticed was a great scent left over.

First Aid Beauty Pure Skin Face Cleanser, 2 oz – Retail Value $11

Most of you know that I generally don’t get too excited over more “basic” cleansers because I love scents and weird textures and, frankly, after years and years of reviewing hundreds of cleansers, I am just not as excitable about them sometimes. I fully expected this to be a total yawn but there is something here that was really enjoyable and I can see this being such a great cleanser for anyone prone to sensitivity or redness. The cream gets a little foamy in the shower as you rub it onto your face and though it didn’t have a scent it was still a great experience because my face felt very clean but also really calm and taken care of when I rinsed. This will be staying in my shower until it is empty for sure.

Dr Jart+ Ceramidin Cream, 10 mL – Estimated Value $9.60 (buy 50 mL for $48.00)

FYI – New members will receive this item. Renewing members may receive this or a Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Collection Fragrance, a Proenza Schouler Arizona Fragrance, or Sol De Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream. Members will not receive the same product twice.

This is one of my number-one winter moisturizers and though the weather is still mild here, this little tube will be empty in a few months! You know that period of time mid-winter where your face is just pissed-off, red, and chapped and nothing on earth makes it feel better? This stuff probably will. It is medium-weight, soothing, and loaded with everything stressed-out skin loves: ceramides, hyaluronic acid, antioxidants, panthenol, and more. I like to sleep in it until winter really kicks off and then I transfer it to daytime and nighttime use if needed.

Verdict

I really liked this month’s Allure box. And the total value of $113.07 for $23 is really nice. It was cool to try out a new Boscia launch and I loved the eyeshadow bento palette! The Whish lip balm was a pleasant surprise and the cleanser was a home run! The Dr. Jart + cream is always welcome (seriously, send me one monthly) and though the NatureLab Tokyo didn’t work for me, I still have tons of love for that brand.

How does everyone feel about whish? Are they legitimate? I just feel like there isn’t enough info about them on the web and it makes me hesitant

Aidan

They used to be sold in Ulta and I stocked up on a few things when the cleared them out. I enjoy them, but I don’t think they’re groundbreaking. They have some nice scented body products.

Pink5

I have fine straight hair, so the NatureLab is good for me.

It was actually through Allure that I discovered NatureLab when they sent the shampoo and conditioner set a few years ago. The whole line is nice although the shine oil needs a light hand when used.

Meg

anyone else an Amazon subscriber and missing the Whish lippie, or just me? I’m in progress of trying to get it sent, but the customer service is not stellar.

Mandi

Did you contact allure directly or though amazon? When I had problems I contacted them through amazon and everything was handled right away. You might also wanna contact Amazon chat instead of messaging the seller and tell them what’s going on. The problems I’ve had with allure is that you have to bug them over and over again to get your missed product.

Snow

My box should be delivered today 🥳

As an avid tretinoin user, I always find it tough to incorporate retinol products in my routine. Maybe I’ll just experiment with it and hope my face doesn’t fall off lol.

Appreciate the review, Megan!

Claire

I have the same issue. Any retinol product I receive in boxes are of no use to me as I also use tretinoin.I’ve thought of using these along with it but I think we may be getting into the realm of overdosing.

Moi

Beware- I cancelled Allure on Sept 8- they just charged my card $265. I have the email from them. Called AGAIN- no apology, oh, yeah, that shouldn’t have happened. Pathetic company.

Rosemary

I have had this happen more than once. Their customer service is quite terrible. In the past I have been sucked in to resubscribing (more than once, actually). I’m glad that I am no longer a subscriber, as the new price doesn’t seem quite right in comparison to the quality and quantity of the products in the boxes.
No matter, I really hope that everyone loves what they receive! That’s the whole point of sub boxes.

Alison

I ‘m sorry that happened to you.
I called in August to cancel my year long sub to Allure. The CS rep told me she would cancel it and gave me a confirmation number.
I checked my credit card early September and was charged the $265 for the renewal rate. I called customer service right away. The CS rep apologized and told me that I should not have been charged. She was very kind and helpful. I had my money back in my account within 7 days. I was very happy with how it was handled.

Ash

Not making excuses for the company at all, but just a reminder that although the people you talk to when calling customer service are the face of the company, they are just people. They get yelled at all day and it isn’t directly their fault what the company they work for does. I’m not saying you do this, but some people expect the CS reps to suck up to them for a mistake their company made and it’s just kinda ridiculous. If the CS reps are attempting to fix the mistake and aren’t rude, that should be enough.

KayKay

As a customer service rep I was taught to say “I’m sorry” when something went wrong – even though it wasn’t my fault. Sometimes people just want that apology and it’s the CS reps job to give it to them.

Jessica

I’ve had the Boscia retinol for a little over two months now and I use it 2-3 times a week. No acne breakouts over here!

Izzie

Thank you for your review! I must admit I’m a bit less excited for the boscia, But let’s see… my box is hostage of usps, so I will patiently wait before experimenting (and finding out what I got, I think I might already have received all of the perfumes and both dr jar+ and bum bum cream).

Marion

If you buy through Amazon, you get the Flowerbomb fragrance.

I have to admit that Allure almost pulled me back in this month. This is one of their rare boxes that would actually be worth $23 to me. Fortunately, I’ve been going through my stash & seeing how much STUFF I have, & was able to resist.

Teresa

Amazon was either the Flower Bomb or the Arizona. I got the Arizona (which I was initially happy about because I’ve gotten many samples of the Flower Bomb and don’t care for it), but I feel like the Arizona is in the same scent category and pretty similar so not a fan of that one either. 🙁

Marion

Oh, thanks for letting me know! All the Amazon ones I’ve seen are Flowerbomb, & it’s even on the picture on the site.

I do like Arizona, but I have to be in the right mood for it, & I already have 2 deluxe samples that I’m not close to using up.

Sarah

I might end up buying this one through Amazon since it is a lot easier to cancel.

Marion

Yeah. The disadvantage with Amazon is that you can’t get any deals with discount codes or new subscriber gifts.
