Vine Oh!
4.3 overall rating

Vine Oh! is a quarterly subscription box featuring wine + women's lifestyle items. For $59.99 per quarter, you'll receive two bottles of wine, plus lifestyle gift items that will have a total retail value of at least $120. This box ships to the U.S., except the following states: AK, AL, AR, DE, HI, KY, MS, RI, UT.

One important thing to know about Vine Oh!'s wines is that they're custom-made for subscribers. If you like a bottle and want more, you can usually find them available for purchase in the Vine Oh! wine shop. You have the option of either two sweets, two whites, two reds, or a mix.

This box was sent to us at no cost to review. (Check out the review process post to learn more).

First Impressions

Inside the shipping box, you will receive a smaller box that contains all of the lifestyle items. The wine bottles are safely cased below at the bottom of the shipping carton.

There is a card for each item, as well as an overview sheet with the total box value enclosed in the Oh! envelope.

Before I dive into the items, I want to share my excitement. This is my first month reviewing Vine Oh!, and I've been looking forward to it! Let's start by taking a peek at (and a sip of) the wines that were included in this months' shipment.

Inside The Vine Oh! "Oh! For Me!” Fall 2021 Box

2018 Wicked Bliss California Syrah – Retail Value $24.00

In a world of doing things "responsibly" we raise a glass to those who break the unwritten rules of life. May we all be bold enough to play hooky, eat cake for breakfast, and shatter glass ceilings in the pursuit of Wicked Bliss.

I'm always a bit hesitant when a wine subscription (that specializes in more than just wine) sends custom bottles. I wouldn't' exactly call myself a "wine snob," but I won't drink just anything either. I held my breath a little when I popped open this bottle and poured some into a glass-- would I like it? I'm happy to report that I shouldn't have been concerned, this bottle of Syrah is pretty darn solid. Dry and bold, this wine delivered an uncomplicated burst of smoothy, fruity flavor. More than anything, It was utterly drinkable, and quite tasty. I got notes of raspberry and tart cherry, and I think this bottle would be great with something like pork chops with fig sauce. I didn't have anything nearly that fancy on the menu for this week, so I sipped my glass while making tacos.

2019 New Crush California Chardonnay– Retail Value $24.00

A new crush is exciting, often unexpected. It's a time to savor the moment. This feeling inspired our New Crush Wine, creating an exciting and memorable flavor palate to be enjoyed and savored with every sip. It's our New Crush.

Alright, guys, I have to make a confession here. Chardonnay is not really my jam. I'll happily accept a glass with dinner if that's what my host is serving, but I don't go out of my way to buy or order it for myself. The buttery, oaky flavors that American Chardonnay is usually known for just don't really do it for me. Still, I approached this bottle with an open mind. The description on the back of the bottle sounder fresher, fruitier, and lighter than the bottles that I usually try to avoid, so I gave it a whirl. And I'm glad that I did! This bottle was indeed less buttery and less oaky than I feared. It actually tasted more like apple juice than it did Chard. Honestly, it's still not the perfect wine for me, but it paired nicely with some roasted chicken.

Willow Collective Blanket Scarf- Listed Value $35

When I think about my perfect fall subscription box, it most certainly contains a scarf, and this one is really nice. It's soft and very large (definitely a true blanket scarf), and I think the red, black, and mustard tartan is classic.

My go-to fall uniform is a black leather jacket, scarf, and black sunglasses, so this will be put to good use. I'm also a huge fan of shawls, and this scarf can definitely do double duty. Hopefully, the pic above gives a good indication of the size of this thing. Sadly, I'm not sure there's a lot of air travel in my future, but this is the kind of scarf that's perfect for long plane journeys. Cozy, warm, and large enough to curl up underneath.

Jules Smith Cosmic Cuff Set- Listed Value $58

I'm a fan of minimal gold jewelry, and this bracelet duo is charming. I'm probably more likely to incorporate the black gem bangle into my regular rotation, but the one with the moon and star feels perfectly appropriate for fall. Even if I might not pull this out in the middle of summertime, I will most certainly rock it in October and in the lead-up to Halloween.

I'm also pleased to report that the bracelets have a good weight to them that makes them feel substantial. Only time and repeated wearing will tell for sure, but they feel like they're well made.

(Re)Fresh Dry Shampoo- Listed Value $9

I’m fairly picky about dry shampoo. My hair is a darkish brown color, and I don’t like products that leave a white residue or muddy my color. My favorite dry shampoo is Klorane’s dark hair-friendly formulation, but I’ll also happily grab whatever products from T.J. Maxx I come across that spray clear. This one worked very well at covering my probably-should-have-washed-my-hair-this-morning roots, but unless I sprayed it a good 6+ inches from my scalp, I got a noticeable white spot. I was able to brush away the worst of the brightness, but my color was cast with a grayish hue. I’ll probably pass this along to a blonde friend who won’t have the same issue. On the plus side, I like the way this dry shampoo smells. I’m sometimes hesitant when it comes to vanilla (as a baker, I try to avoid smelling like I’m sneaking cookies around with me), but the aroma was subtle and pleasant.

Carly Rae Studio Wine Lover Tote Bag- Listed Value $18

I can never have enough canvas totes, and I will most certainly use this one; however, If I'm honest, I have to admit that the message isn't very me. It's cute and all, but it's just a leeeetle cheesy for my taste. Message aside, the bag is sturdy, and it's a nice size for grocery shopping.

Sweet Chaos Vanilla Chai Popcorn- Listed Value $4

Is drizzled popcorn ever an unwanted addition to a subscription box? Not in my house! I could eat popcorn all day every day, and I love popcorn with a little bit of sweetness. (I recently discovered Smartpop's Krispy Kreme Glazed Popcorn, and goodness gracious, miracles do exist.) The Vanilla Chai flavor is divine, and the taste reminds me of an eggnog latte. This selection seems perfectly appropriate for a fall box, and there's a good amount of drizzle that makes each bite feel like dessert. I would 100% buy another bag of this stuff.

Was This Box Worth It?

The Cost: $59.99

Value Breakdown: This box cost $59.99, which feels like a pretty great deal considering the retail price of the bracelets alone is roughly the same price. Breaking down the $59.99 cost among the hero items (wine, scarf, and bracelets) and viewing the others (tote, popcorn, and dry shampoo) as bonus items, each of the 4 hero items has an average cost of $15. Given that's well below the cost of each item, I'm very happy with the value of this shipment! This box delivered some really nice items at a significant discount.

Key Takeaways

This is my first time reviewing a Vine Oh! box and I had a lot of fun with it. The mix of wine and lifestyle items is a fun concept, and it works, I think. I could see subscribing to this box as a way to treat yourself to quarterly presents, but it would also be a great gift for someone who loves wine. My favorite items in this month's box were the scarf, popcorn, bracelets, and Syrah. The tote bag and dry shampoo weren't quite right for me, but since they're two of the lower-value items in the box, it still feels like a solid win.

I polished off that popcorn instantly. I never heard of that brand so I searched and so far I only found the cake batter(Cold Stone Creamery) and ordered a box of individual bags. They have candy corn at my Sam’s but only in store. I live in the city of Krispy Kreme doughnuts and have been looking for the popcorn!
I enjoy my box every quarter. I enjoy the wines every time. It is so much easier than standing in the store guessing which wine to buy.
