Stitch Fix is a personal styling service. When you sign up, you take an in-depth survey of your sizes, your style, and your pricing preferences. After choosing when you’d like to receive your delivery, your stylist handpicks five items based on your preferences. The fee for this service is $20, and that includes free shipping and free returns. And if you keep any of the items they send you, you get to deduct the $20 fee from the total. (If you keep all five items, you also get a 25% discount!)

My items are reflective of my style and price preferences, so your Fix may be completely different.

First Impressions

Let's take a look at this month's selections, shall we?

What's Inside This Month's Fix

Cielo Cross Back Fitted Knit Tank by LNA, Size 2x — Retail Value $68.00

First up at bat is this knit tank by LNA. I love the strap details on the front and back of this fantastic top. The material has loads of stretch but does offer slight compression as well. This tank is like an upgrade on the typical black tank staple piece in your wardrobe. There is just something refined and chic about this one. I styled it with the Harlen Ponte skirt that Torey also included for me, this top is incredibly versatile. I can imagine this being worn effortlessly with skinny leg jeans, a black blazer, and pointy mules for a timelessly cool ensemble. This would also look fantastic with some wide leg Palazzo pants and embellished sandals for a killer end of summer look too! Let me jump forward and suggest wearing this during the holidays with a fancy sequin skirt and heels as well! The looks are endless and will make the $68 price tag a true steal!

Harlen Ponte Skirt by Skies Are Blue, Size 3x — Retail Value $54.00

Have I mentioned before how much I love ponte skirts? I have several in my closet. I absolutely love the stretch of the material, but that I am held in incredibly well also! I think Torey gathered that I am a sucker for floral prints by my feedback on the Stitch Fix site. I do like how the pink and blue accents on the flowers look against the burgundy in the skirt, but I am not head over heels in love with the piece enough to purchase it. If I were still in the office for either of my jobs, this would be an ideal piece for sure! I would wear it with flats, a black or blue t-shirt, and top it off with either a black cardigan or faux leather biker jacket-- depending on the mood! This will also look great in fall paired with tan, beige, and oatmeal pieces. This would look adorable paired with an off white, bulky sweater and beige ankle booties for ultra fall vibes.

Joonie Boyfriend Blazer by Liverpool, Size 2x— Retail Value $98.00

Friends, I really want to like blazers. In theory, I do, I love them on other people. My friend, Jamie, rocks a blazer like no other. They always look so flawless on her. For me... not so much. I know Torey was immensely excited about this blazer, but it is not me. At all. I just am not feeling myself in this. Why does this blazer make me think of a 70s used car salesman? In most senses, anything from or inspired by fashions from the 60s and 70s would appeal to me-- but this just isn't doing it for me. One plus I will give this piece is that it doesn't make my shoulders look super broad like most blazers do! Even though this is not a love connection for me, I can envision this looking amazing on other people. My friend, Jamie, for example-- she would probably slay wearing this with a navy tank, butter yellow shorts or wide-legged trousers, and wooden platform heels.  This would also look so chic with a mock turtleneck, mini skirt, and heels. I opted to showcase this blazer with the Market & Spruce dress as well as some yellow mules to pull out some of the yellow in the jacket.

Beatriz Scallop Detail Dress by Market&Spruce, Size 3x  — Retail Value $68.00

The fantastic thing about this dress is its versatility. This dress can easily be worn in summer weather-- the fabric isn't terribly thick, but not too light either. The material also has a nice amount of stretch. The dark navy with white dots print also makes it an item that can be worn a variety of ways. I styled it with yellow mules and the Joonie Boyfriend blazer, but in the fall one could easily pair this with a t-shirt underneath the dress and sneakers for a more casual, but cute look. Pair this with a t-shirt underneath, an oversized cardigan, and combat boots or Mary Jane Docs and ruffled socks for a very 90s grunge-inspired look as well. For the office, pair with a mock turtleneck underneath, solid tights, and oxfords.

Erabel Printed Jersey Dress by London Times, Size 3x— Retail Value $74.00

My cousin helped take the pics for this month's review and she kept saying how good I looked in this dress! Thank you, cousin, for gassing me up! Out of all the items that Torey sent me, this is probably my favorite of the bunch too. The style of this dress is just beautiful. I love the neckline and the thicker straps. The floral print is not necessarily my favorite, but I still like it especially since it has so many variations of yellow in it. I also appreciate that the material has so much stretch! This dress is fantastic for spring and summertime, but I imagine with black tights, wooden platform wedges or ankle booties, and a cardigan or biker style jacket that this would translate easily into fall and winter weather months as well.

The Verdict

This month's Stitch Fix had some fantastic pieces, but nothing that screamed me from a rooftop, if you know what I mean. I enjoyed all the selections, but there was nothing that I felt compelled to consider keeping. My favorite piece far and away was the London Times dress and we all know my least favorite was the blazer. That all being said, I think Torey and I are on the right path! Torey seems to be pretty thorough and will take into account the feedback I provide. I also strongly suggest for folks to do the Daily Style Quiz Stitch Fix offers on their site. It allows you to thumbs up or down pieces to further communicate with your stylist your likes and dislikes. That combined with the written feedback is such a help to your stylist! You can also "bookmark" items in their shop and send the links to items on your feedback as well. You can also personally select pieces for your Stitch Fix as well-- which I like since I am a mega online shopping fiend. I also like that Stitch Fix now allows you to shop on their site for clothing items, accessories, foundation garments, and also shoes without getting a monthly Stitch Fix sent to you! This is ideal if you aren't interested in the monthly Fix, you can simply just buy exclusive Stitch Fix brand items whenever you like! With all these options, how can you not like Stitch Fix? I provided my feedback to Torey and am extremely excited to see what she sends me next month, are you?

Can you still get these pieces if you sign up today? Stitch Fix curates its Fixes based on each individual’s preferences as well as what’s available. What you get might not be the same as what I got, but you also might get something that fits your style and body even better than the looks above! Sign up and see what they choose for you!

Value Breakdown: This personal styling service has a $20 styling fee with free shipping and returns. The total retail value of the items inside is $362. The cost of each item is listed alongside it, above, but if I choose to keep at least 5 items, I get a 25% discount. The $20 cost of the box would also be applied to the purchase, meaning I’d end up spending $251.50 for the whole box. Ultimately, that’s about a 31% discount!

I do think they look good in you. How long have you been receiving? I was wondering if they quality has improved in the last few years. By that I mean, how do they hold up to washing after a few months or do they look like you have had a lot longer. Thanks

Thanks, Laura! I am sorry that I missed your review till now! I mean, there are various brands that Stitch Fix offers in addition to their in house brands. I have been reviewing for Stitch Fix since Summer of 2017 and all the pieces I purchased through them are in great condition. However, I cannot say they are pieces I wear on a regular basis, so I am not sure if that really helps you out. In my experience, the pieces I have are well made and still rather fashionable!

That last dress looks awesome on you! Not the best piece for moving into fall, but you look gorgeous!

Thanks, April! Well, layers are always an option for sure, but yeah more ideal for spring and summer for sure!

First and foremost, I always love your reviews, Nicole! Having said that, this box is a bust. With the exception of the used car blazer 🙂 everything you rec’d is for summer and no end of season discounts provided. And sorry, a black tank that causes side boob/armpit fat *and* back fat and costs $68 is horrifying.

I admire your ability to put a good spin on most everything!

Oh for sure, Maddie. I appreciate your feedback. Out where I am it is still pretty warm, so I certainly can still wear a lot of these items. Plus the skirt can be worn all year. The colors and hues of the pieces don’t really scream summer to me either tbh. The tank was not necessarily my favorite piece, but I know someone else will enjoy it and always want to provide styling tips for those that do. 🙂 The top doesn’t necessarily create back rolls though, I am a fat woman and have rolls all over :). But it didn’t help terribly much! haha. I do agree though, I prefer not wearing tops like this because I am not a fan of strapless bras. I never feel properly supported. Even the best strapless bra I found isn’t great. It is a total nightmare! hahaha. It is frustrating to say the very least. I forever appreciate your support and checking in on my reviews! It really means a lot to me!
